The three looked up at the "castle" in their plates, constructed out of snow and ice and adorned with cream and fruit, and swallowed involuntarily, driven by curiosity to ask:
"What is this?"
"Dessert after dinner. I made it just now with the ingredients I have at hand; you can call it—ice cream."
Luo En answered with a smile, handing each of them a small wooden spoon, gesturing for them to taste it.
The trio circled the ice-cream that resembled a tiny castle of ice and snow, inspecting it from left to right, yet couldn't bear to take a bite, like three little girls who'd received a precious gift and couldn't bear to ruin it.
Eventually, Scadi, the grown-up amongst them, steeled her nerves, took up a small spoon, and gingerly scooped a spoonful from the corner of the ice-snow castle, bringing it to her slightly parted lips.
