Chapter 666 - 665. Reunion.

Alex was one hundred percent certain—there hadn't been even the slightest trace of psychic intrusion into his mind.

And precisely because of that, he was quite intrigued when Charles seemingly spoke aloud the thoughts buried in his heart.

There were only two possibilities: either Charles's telepathy had become so overwhelmingly powerful that he could probe Alex's mind without alerting him… or the old man had access to something Alex wasn't aware of.

As a sorcerer versed in the arcane arts—and a dimensional overlord—Alex took his psychic defenses extremely seriously. Even Jean Grey herself wouldn't necessarily be able to breach his mind.

And the Charles Xavier before him was aged, his telepathic prowess dulled by decades of suppressants designed to subdue mutant genes. That kind of power degradation made it virtually impossible for him to slip past Alex's mental wards.

That left only one logical conclusion.

"You saw that in my head?"

To this, Charles simply smiled and shook his head.

"No, child. I saw it on your face."

Alex blinked.

He had considered countless explanations—up to and including the Dark Watcher possessing Charles's body to speak with him. But this simple reply? He hadn't anticipated it at all.

Before he could respond, Charles continued. "You look anxious. I know that expression. It's not something that should appear on someone your age. Something's troubling you. Perhaps I can help."

"I'm afraid there's not much you can do, Professor Xavier," Alex replied with a weary smile and shake of the head.

"You'll never know unless you tell me," Charles said earnestly. "I may be just an old cripple, but I still have a few things stored up here." He tapped his temple.

There was a brief silence. Then, almost on impulse, Alex spoke plainly.

"I'm trying to understand more about this world. Are there any unusual elements here? Things I should be especially aware of—something beyond the ordinary?"

"The most exceptional thing in this world," Charles said, slipping into an almost professorial tone, "are the mutants. Mutations born of the human genome. Unlike natural evolution or animal adaptation, these mutations defy nature—shining like stars across the cosmos. Beautiful, isn't it? These radiant powers are the Creator's greatest praise."

"What about besides mutants?" Alex asked, arms crossed. "Is there anything else unusual?"

"I… I don't understand." Charles furrowed his brow, visibly troubled. "Aren't mutants extraordinary enough?"

"They are," Alex replied slowly, "but what I mean is—"

He hesitated. There wasn't a simple way to explain it to Charles. Eventually, he just sighed and gave up. "Never mind. Rest up, Professor."

This time, Charles just stared at Alex. His gaze was that of a child who'd just been scolded. He said nothing as Alex opened the door and stepped out of the room.

Once outside, Alex gently closed the door behind him, letting out a sigh.

Who would have thought? The mighty Professor X, reduced to this state in his twilight years. Their conversation hadn't been much of one. On the surface, it seemed logical. But if you thought about it for even a second, it was clear—Charles had been rambling the entire time.

[Why didn't you ask more questions, my lord?]

Miss Minutes's voice echoed softly beside his ear.

Alex shook his head.

"He's just a man lost in memory," he murmured. "That conversation wasn't a real dialogue. To him, I was probably just another student from the Xavier Institute."

Alzheimer's was irreversible. Even for someone as cerebral as Charles Xavier, it still took hold.

Alex wasn't sure if that counted as a kind of corruption. Perhaps in his original universe, before Alzheimer's could be cured, it was a problem even the multiverse's miracles couldn't solve. No matter how extraordinary the powers at play, some afflictions—especially those the higher beings had no answer for—remained incurable. Like an unspoken rule of reality.

Just as Alex was lost in thought, a surge of magical energy pulsed through his mind.

His eyes lit up, and he instantly understood.

"Looks like Logan completed the mission. Miss Minutes—open a portal. They're coming back."

Without hesitation, Miss Minutes tapped into Alex's magical conduits and conjured a translucent purple portal in the middle of the living room.

Since they had already established an anchor in the Supernatural Universe, locating it again was no difficult task. And thanks to the enchanted playing card Alex had given Logan, Miss Minutes could pinpoint their exact location and retrieve them.

As the shimmering portal rippled, several figures emerged from its depths.

The first one to step through was none other than Wolverine—James Howlett.

"Any trouble?" Alex moved up to meet him.

"It was fine. We ran into a bit of trouble, but it's been handled," James replied with a slight nod, not offering much detail. Still, Alex could tell—the man's entire outfit had been changed.

Alex knew full well what lurked within the Supernatural Universe. For Wolverine to come back like this, he'd clearly had a face-off with some of those flesh-eating monsters.

And no surprise there. For superheroes like them, the grotesque horror of "man-eating" abominations would leave a lasting psychological impact. Hopefully, Polaris and Blink hadn't been too shaken.

Following James out of the portal were Dean and Sam. Though it had been a while since Alex had last seen the brothers, they didn't look much different.

"Alex," Sam greeted first, while Dean gave a friendly smile.

"It's been a while, you two," Alex returned the smile and stepped forward to shake their hands. "I heard about the Leviathan situation. I was worried something might've happened to you."

"The Leviathans—Mr. Wayne helped us take care of that one, and in style too," Sam said with a chuckle. "Honestly, we didn't expect those things to start controlling major corporations just to farm humans like livestock. Luckily, Mr. Wayne knows how capitalism works—he crushed their operations tactically. That gave us a real shot at cleaning them up."

"Bruce is definitely capable of that," Alex said, raising an eyebrow. "But from what I heard, they did a bit more than just that."

Seeing Alex's look, Sam instantly understood the subtext. He scratched the back of his head and grinned sheepishly.

"Yeah… during that time, the Leviathans went wild. They didn't just eat people—they went after demons and angels too. Everything was on the menu. The chaos triggered other monsters too—figuring they'd rather go wild themselves than end up as Leviathan chow."

"Then Mr. Wayne and his apprentices caught wind of it," he continued, "and they started a full-on monster hunt. Two straight months—they swept through North America like a purge squad. It got so intense the military almost got involved."

"These guys…" Alex couldn't help but laugh and gave Sam a pat on the shoulder.

"They just got a little too excited in a new playground."

Not to mention the Bat Family's signature talent for eliminating anything non-human—but Alex kept that thought to himself.

"Alright, enough with the catching up,"

Dean, who had been quiet until now, stepped forward with a serious look. He stood squarely in front of Alex.

"Alex, you brought us back for a reason. What do you need from us this time?"
