Alice's phone rang while she had blood from Faydor's wrist. She set the phone on silent. Again, the phone rang. It was Sky.
"Sky, I thought you were busy with Esther. Why are you calling me at 3 in the morning?" Alice groaned.
There was the sound of clothes ruffling and muffled noises from Sky's side. "The Book of Mordune is stolen. Esther and I are going back to the palace. Come back fast." Skylar said.
Alice froze for a second. How did she know? Did Kristen ask her for help? All these possibilities raced through her mind.
"Um- I will be there in 30 minutes," Alice replied. Just then, there was a knock at Faydor's door. Luna called for Faydor.
"Is that Luna?" Skylar asked incredulously, "You are at Luna's? What if someone saw you there? It will be news, Alice. How many times do I have to tell you not to go there?" Skylar was almost screaming at Alice on the phone. Faydor muffled his laugh at the spectacle.
Behind Sky, Esther said, "Don't shout at her through the phone, love. Talk to her when she is back."
"I will be at the palace," Alice cut the call. She shot glares at a laughing Faydor. "Shut up," she sighed.
"Sorry, but that was a hell of a spectacle. Skylar was at Esther's place by the way, if you can't tell," Faydor said, laughing.
Alice looked at him, astonished, but filed the information for later.
She paid twice the amount. One for Luna's account and the other for Faydor's account. Alice drives back to the palace. She parked her bike in their garage. It was her favorite bike and she didn't like anyone touching it.
Once parked, she walked into the hall. Skylar and Esther were sitting on the sofa. A girl was standing next to them. But all Alice could see was her back.
"So, what's the trouble?" Alice asked.
As soon as she spoke, the girl turned around bearing an angry as well as shocked expression. Kristen. What is she doing here? Couldn't Sky clear it on the phone that Kristen was the one who told her about the theft.
Alice tried to stay calm and composed, acting like she didn't know what they were talking about. And who this new person was.
"Sky, who's this?" Alice asked. "She is-," Sky started
Before Sky could finish, Kristen had Alice pinned to the wall. Her sword was at Alice's throat. Yes, she is angry about me taking the book. Alice thought.
"It's her. She stole it," Kristen told Skylar. Skylar looked flabbergasted. While Esther turned around to see what was happening. He was pissed off before for cutting short his and Sky's time. But right now, he had the same expression as Skylar's. "You sure, it's Alice?" He asked.
"I am sure. It's her," Kristen said, shooting glares at Alice.
"If you wanted the book, all you had to do was find me. Why did you have to include them in our little tryst?" Alice whispered just enough for Kristen to hear.
"If I could find you, I wouldn't have to include them," Kristen whispered back.
"Do you have the book?" Skylar asked, displeased.
"No, I don't," Alice replied. "Don't believe her. She has it," Kristen said. Kristen moved back and pulled the sleeves of her shirt up, showing the burn marks to Skylar.
"Fine. I have it." Alice admitted, begrudgingly.
