Chapter 33 - 033 - Red string: He will lose

The foot that stepped down became clear, and the tension the air was pregnant with, instead of climbing a new peak, especially after attracting the attention of those in front too, suddenly collapsed. The difference between expectations and reality was too much.

Instead of a booted foot, sharp pants and a straight jacket, or anything else to portray a look worthy of the car, the drive was wearing slippers, casual shorts, and, as he slammed the door of the dark beast of a SUV shut with a muffled sound as its headlights dimmed, an even more casual shirt left open over his white t-shirt.

Alex looked around, the stagnant expressions he was met with causing him raised his eyebrows. He looked questioningly at Lance and Tyler:

"What?"

The two men looked at the leader of their group of friends, and they tried to restrain themselves. They really tried, but in the end, it proved to be too difficult:

"Pfft!"

It was like a signal that made the expressions of the others around to collapse, and they exploded into laughter. Even though there was no mockery, only amusement, Alex looked at himself, then rolled his eyes:

"Ha-ha-ha. What were you guys doing looking like you were about to fight?"

The laughter calmed down. Lance restrained his smile and turned to the group on the opposite side. He sneered, and explained:

"It's nothing much. Some people were just saying that you were not coming because you were hiding behind your mother's skirt."

Alex raised an eyebrow, and turned to the group that had turned slightly pale by then. He gave them a once-over with his gaze, then shook his head, disinterested. He waved his hand at them dismissively:

"Make yourselves scarce, and tell Kris that if he has something to say, he might as well come say it to my face. Given that we are cousins, maybe I won't hold it against him."

"Hahahaha…" × …

And with that, Alex truly stopped caring about the group, as if, in his eyes, they were just clowns. He looked around, before turning to Lance and posing a question with curiosity:

"Where is Ron?"

Unfortunately, the latter, having just arrived too, did not know. Fortunately, before he could look around in confusion, the answer came from a member of the group on their side:

"Ron is in front, appreciating the beauties there."

Lance was stunned and looked in front, while Tyler raised his eyebrows. While there was some mingling between the two genders, or even between the same gender, the singles and thrill seekers were mostly concentrated in front.

Alex was the one who took it the calmest, without much of a reaction. He nodded:

"Let's go in front too."

He returned to his car, and Lance followed behind him with his Mustang to slowly advance until a few meters behind the starting line where the races were starting

At that moment, there were no cars preparing to depart. The focus, like it had been on the conflict involving Lance's group, was on two cars, as well the two it seemed to belong to.

The scene happening seemed so interesting that the source of the silence that had descended over the gathering before, as well as the disturbance on Alex's side, had not managed to take away the focus.

The group that arrived from the back announced their arrival with the sounds of doors being slammed shut.

After a look around, there was no need to ask about Ron anymore. He was one of the two at the center of the focus.

Alex raised his eyebrows, then with a smile, leaned back against his SUV and looked with appreciation in his eyes at the blue-eye blonde female party in the confrontation showing calm detachment while against the car she came with.

She was wearing tights dark shorts that left her healthy legs exposed, a pair of dark heels with straps that climbed over her calves, and on top, a dark long-sleeved jacket on the shoulder of which was resting her beige hair whose beige hair softly and gently reflecting the bright lights shining on the gathering.

Lance and Tyler smiled and shared a knowing look, before coming to rest against the dark SUV on either side of its owner. But they left it for him to continue admiring the woman, while they focused on Ron who had brown hair, but with a very light shade compared to Alex, much less Tyler.

As the three friends got comfortable to enjoy the spectacle, the standoff came to an end with Ron smirking:

"Since you want to resolve it with a bet, I'm on."

He looked confident, and a little dashing, even if he was full of bad boy's vibes.

The blonde gave him a dismissive look, and calmly raised her hand to the zipper of her jacket, before pulling it down slowly. Her action got all of Ron's attention, and he focused on the skin that started showing.

His eyes lit up with a fire any adult would recognize. His smirk widened, his pupils dilated, and he was about to swallow a mouthful of saliva when he froze, following the hand pulling down the zipper that stopped.

He raised his eyes, and met calm blue eyes full of disregard. Without another word, the blonde turned around and went to the driver seat of her car.

Ron, far from getting angry, licked his lips, with the fire in his eyes burning brighter.

"I win, you go out with me. You win, you get my car."

The only answer he got was the sound of the door being slammed close, but that did nothing to extinguish his fire. It was as if the rebuke, the disregard, all of that was creating a challenge that was making him enjoy the situation more.

He met the gazes of Alex's trio when he turned around. He nodded at them with a smile, a distracted one, as his attention was for the most part on the blonde for whom the fire inside him was burning, and he stepped into his car.

As the two contenders drove to the starting line, Alex shook his head with a smile:

"Ron will lose."
