Chapter 307: The Further Fall of the God King Tang
Staring at the dozen corpses before him, a glint of light flashed in Tang God King's eyes.
Back when he first discovered the devouring ability of the Eight Spider Lances, Tang San had secretly warned himself: he could only use it on soul beasts—never on humans.
But after experiencing the massive gains from devouring so many times, how could the Tang God King still hold on to his moral line?
What's more, Tang God King had always been able to rationalize his actions with absurd logic. Just like now:
People from the Spirit Empire are all enemies. Since they're enemies, how are they any different from soul beasts?
The Eight Spider Lances extended from his back as Tang God King stepped slowly toward the corpses.
"Hahahaha! Eighty-five! This feeling is absolutely wonderful!"
Half an hour later, Tang God King slowly retracted the Eight Spider Lances, his face brimming with intoxicated satisfaction as he sensed the fluctuations in his soul power.
Before him were over a dozen corpses, all shriveled dry from being drained.
"It seems there's a big difference between devouring soul beasts and devouring humans!"
Tang God King's gaze was sharp, but his mind was deep in calculation. Back on Sea God Island, the most powerful being he had devoured was a Devil Soul Great White Shark with a cultivation of fifty thousand years, and even then, it had only raised him from Soul Sage to the next level.
But now, after devouring a dozen Spirit Empire soul masters, he had risen from level eighty-four to eighty-five.
The soul power required for a Spirit Douluo to advance a level was nearly ten times that of a Soul Sage.
It seemed that the energy within soul beasts was too chaotic, whereas the soul power in humans was significantly refined due to cultivation—that must be what caused the huge difference.
As Tang San thought this, a sudden flash of insight struck his mind, and greed filled his eyes.
This soul master squad had arrived so quickly—it meant there was definitely a Spirit Hall sub-branch in the nearest city.
And if a Soul Saint-level cultivator was dispatched to lead the team, then the true authority behind it was likely even stronger—perhaps even a Soul Douluo.
If he could devour a Soul Douluo, just how far would his strength go?
Greed drove Tang God King to charge toward the distance at full speed, unaware that his every move was being monitored.
The city closest to the Blue Silver Forest—Qingyun City—was heavily garrisoned by Spirit Hall due to its position at the intersection of three kingdoms. The one guarding the area was a powerful Soul Douluo at level eighty-six.
As night fell, within Spirit Hall's branch, a shadow silently slipped inside.
It weaved through the courtyards, relying on the immense spiritual power granted by the Sea God's Light and the detection of the Blue Silver Domain. No one noticed his presence.
The soul masters stationed inside were picked off one after another, reduced to withered corpses.
"Who's there?!"
A furious roar shattered the silence of the night. The Soul Douluo hadn't yet detected Tang San's presence, but he could sense the other soul masters in the branch.
At first, he didn't think much of it—but as Tang San continued to slaughter and devour, he finally realized something was very wrong.
With the Soul Douluo's angry shout, the soul masters inside the branch were roused from sleep, stumbling out of their rooms in a panic and confusion.
The Soul Douluo scanned his surroundings, but still couldn't locate the intruder. A chill ran down his spine.
He roared again, "Everyone, gather around me!"
Even he, a Soul Douluo, couldn't detect the enemy. That alone proved how terrifying the attacker was.
If these soul masters faced him alone, they'd be offering themselves up as sacrifices. Better to huddle together—perhaps there was still a sliver of hope.
The soul masters snapped out of their daze and scrambled toward the Soul Douluo, gathering into a tight group.
Only then did the anxiety in everyone's hearts ease slightly.
Seeing this, the Soul Douluo also gained a bit of confidence. He took a deep breath and projected his voice throughout the entire branch with his soul power.
"I don't know which friend has come to visit—please, reveal yourself!"
Tang San saw that the remaining soul masters had already regrouped, so he no longer concealed his presence. He stepped slowly out from the shadows.
Since the start of the assault, Tang San had already devoured over twenty soul masters. His entire body was soaked in blood, and a terrifying, chilling aura of bloodlust clung to him like a shadow, causing the very air around him to drop in temperature. The atmosphere distorted in ripples from the sheer force of his killing intent.
"Who are you? Name yourself!"
The Soul Douluo looked at Tang San warily. His instincts screamed that this was no ordinary opponent.
"Me? I'm naturally the one here to take your lives."
Tang San smirked coldly, murderous intent surging from his body. The oppressive force of it chilled the surroundings, twisting the air like waves.
"Arrogant!"
The Soul Douluo roared in fury. His martial spirit silently possessed him, and eight soul rings—two yellow, two purple, and four black—rose from beneath his feet in the perfect configuration.
As expected—a Soul Douluo!
A glint of excitement flickered in Tang San's eyes. A Soul Douluo plus dozens of remaining soul masters—he felt as if a Title Douluo was already within reach.
Silently, Tang San released his Blue Silver Emperor spirit. Matching rings—two yellow, two purple, and four black—rose beneath him as well.
A Soul Douluo? Excellent!
The Spirit Hall's Soul Douluo visibly relaxed after seeing the soul rings rise from Tang San. They were of the same rank. With so many allies at his side, the advantage should still be his.
"Everyone—attack! Take him down!"
The Spirit Hall Soul Douluo bellowed, instantly activating his seventh soul ring. He released his martial spirit true body from the start, transforming into a five-meter-long giant tiger and charging toward Tang San with immense speed.
"Kill!"
The Spirit Hall soul masters followed suit, shouting loudly as they charged forward. Among them were three Soul Saints, who also activated their martial spirit true bodies. The remaining soul masters unleashed a barrage of colorful and dazzling soul skills that rained toward Tang San like a storm.
"Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track!"
Facing the dense onslaught of soul skills, Tang San instantly executed the Tang Sect's signature technique. His body flickered like a drifting shadow, swiftly dodging through the night.
Simultaneously, he activated Purple Demon Eye, allowing him to clearly perceive the gaps between each incoming soul skill. He danced between them with precision, narrowly avoiding both the skills and the charging tiger-form Soul Douluo, slipping past him and rushing straight toward the crowd at the rear.
Tang San's sixth soul ring lit up.
Sixth Soul Skill—Blue Silver Evil Thorn!
Thick blue silver grass surged from all directions. In just an instant, more than ten soul masters were skewered through their bodies and died on the spot.
