After pushing the door open, Klein did not see Alice as he had expected.
He was a bit surprised. After thinking for a moment, he went outside and circled around, arriving under the window.
As expected, Alice was waiting for him there. As soon as she saw him, she happily looked up and extended a hand toward him.
Just like a little child waiting for their parent to pick them up at kindergarten... No, most kids aren't as tormenting as she is.
Klein shook his head, reached out to grab Alice's hand, but suddenly an ice cream appeared and was grasped by him.
Klein, puzzled, took it and looked at Alice with confusion.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Mr. Fool~" Alice blinked, "Though I should have given you chocolate... Forget the roses, you should ask someone else for those."
Right, today is February 14th, Valentine's Day... Klein, who had never been in a relationship in two lifetimes, remained silent for a moment, took the ice cream, and then hesitantly asked:
"How did you find ice cream late at night?"
After they silently stared at each other for about ten seconds, Alice hesitated and asked:
"If I tell you that this is actually the ice cream I ate not long ago, would you think...
"That this is the one I ate and then spit out?"
Klein suddenly had the urge to smash the ice cream into her face. He calculated the difference in their combat abilities and how troublesome it would be to comfort Alice, and eventually gave up on the idea.
"Alice," Klein smiled kindly, looking down at Alice, pleased to see her acting obediently, "Did you do something bad behind my back?"
Alice leaned against the wall, then raised her head and said firmly, "No, I didn't do anything!"
Is there a difference between this reaction and directly admitting it...? Klein pinched his brow in frustration, then extended his hand to Alice, saying, "Get up off the floor first."
Alice didn't grab his hand, but instead got up by herself, then stood properly by the wall, obediently lowering her head.
After staring at Alice for two seconds, Klein suggested, "If you're going to stand as a punishment, facing the wall is more appropriate."
Alice thought his words made sense and obediently turned around. After staring at the wall and the floor for two seconds, she furrowed her brow and turned back, asking in confusion:
"Why do I have to stand here? I didn't do anything wrong."
Klein maintained his gentle smile and asked, "What happened with the Saint Furian?"
Alice silently turned back to face the wall.
Klein helplessly turned Alice back around. Alice followed his force and turned her body, then cautiously looked up at him, pouting:
"I didn't do it on purpose. I didn't know there would be such serious consequences, and I've already tried to make up for it..."
Klein kept his smile unchanged.
After a minute of silence, Alice, with a half-crying expression, lost her patience first. She stopped her fake repentance and tears, lowered her head and said:
"Before we reached Bayam, I was so bored that I casually added a bit of bad luck on the ship...
"But nothing happened in the following days, so... I thought everything was fine...
"Then when I got the uniqueness back, I saw the ship, that ship..."
Alice bit her lip and stopped talking.
She wasn't really repenting, maybe feeling a little guilty, but mostly afraid that I would get angry... However, this was already much better than at the start.
Klein concluded from Alice's attitude, shook his head, and after a moment of thought, reached out to ruffle Alice's hair.
The texture was quite nice... He subtly withdrew his hand and looked at Alice, who had raised her head in confusion, and softly asked:
"You said you made up for it?"
It seemed like he wasn't too angry... Alice straightened up a little and explained, her words circling around the "prophecy," then changed it to another sentence:
"I, I made sure that the people on the ship wouldn't get hurt...
"This way, the shipwreck will still happen, but only the ship will be affected, and the people on the ship will be fine in the end.
"That should be fine, right?"
Alice looked up at Klein, hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she didn't try to manipulate probabilities to make him believe her.
If she made the decision for him, he would be upset... Alice pursed her lips, lowered her head, and said in a downcast voice:
"The prophecy mentioned by Emilius was about this... So, after the prophecy comes true, it should count as a legend... Right?"
The entire explanation was reasonable, and Alice's attempt to make amends wasn't problematic. As for the Storm Church... forget it, Alice hadn't even spent the money she stole.
Since she had already shared the spoils with the goddess, it was better to let the goddess handle it... Klein shook his head, seemingly casually reaching out to touch Alice's hair again.
Alice dodged his touch, glaring at him warily.
After two seconds of silence, Klein suggested, "You can write down in the holy text about how I touched your hair."
Alice immediately decided to go back and draw the scene where she confessed to Miss Cynthia and send it to him.
Klein didn't know about Alice's determination. After thinking for two seconds, he decided to take one last freebie from Alice:
"Can you take me back to the hotel?"
This wasn't too much to ask. Alice grabbed him and sent him back, but had no intention of leaving.
So, Klein, who was ready to sleep, had to continue dealing with Alice:
"Is there something else you need?"
Alice blinked twice and hesitated before saying, "Although I know you probably don't mean it, but..."
"Enough," Klein suddenly remembered what happened that day in the bathroom and quickly interrupted Alice, "I don't want to invite you to sleep with me!"
Alice stared at him, saying, "But your question really makes it easy for people to misunderstand..."
Klein was silent for a moment and gently reminded her, "I think only you would think that."
Alice opened her mouth in surprise.
Klein glanced at her and continued to remind her, "Just like I think a normal person wouldn't just climb out of the window..."
Alice hesitated and closed her mouth.
Klein then said, "Maybe you can tell me if you still have something, so I can see if this thought is normal."
Alice hesitated and looked at him, saying, "You haven't been paid yet, I think this thing isn't completely finished yet..."
Fortunately, it was still somewhat normal... Klein nodded, smiling at Alice to encourage her:
"Good job, you're starting to think more like a human!"
