Unless he leaves the pack and grows elsewhere for a while, seizing better opportunities on the outside to quickly become stronger, only then he might successfully challenge the old Hunting Lord when he returns. However, when it actually reaches that point, the young males usually no longer do that. By their own strength, they have achieved more glorious accomplishments and obtained greater power or their own packs, so the original pack doesn't appeal to them anymore. Besides, it's their maternal tribe, and as long as it doesn't involve things like revenge dramas, even beasts wouldn't easily take up arms against their own fathers.
This development pattern, which bears a strong sense of family, certainly makes the interior of Magla's beast nests unusually united, with few traitors and more secret movements, but it also makes their growth exceedingly slow – often taking decades.
