"Eee yaa ee! Eee yaa ee!"
In the courtyard, Otter Kai swung the vine, whipping it with such vigor that it created a wind. The Little Otters lined up, chest out, head high, holding a straight tree branch, following commands to kick their furry legs in a marching step, leaving little paw prints on the stone slabs.
Long Yao and Long Li sat on the steps, cracking melon seeds and enjoying the spectacle.
Unbeknownst to them, not only in the courtyard were the River Otters doing this; after the military parade in the morning, the children throughout the Imperial Capital enthusiastically imitated and started playing the marching game, visible on every street and alley.
"I want to play Marquis Xingyi! When I crack the whip, you must march in step! Shout out slogans!"
