A/N:This chapter is written in the Third Person's POV style and serves as a flashback to the time when Adeline returned to her world.
Abelard ran as fast as he could through the echoing corridors of the manor, his heart pounding in time with the desperate screams of Haisley that pierced the night air from Madeleine's room.
Clutched in his hand was a letter he had just sent to Lyle—its contents detailing the unfolding crisis inside the manor. The urgency in his steps spoke of a man who knew that every second counted.
When Abelard finally reached the scene, he paused at the threshold near Madeleine's room. There, on the cool, patterned floor, lay Haisley in a crumpled heap, her sobs mingling with an eerie silence that filled the space. Madeleine herself was slumped on her coach, unconscious and unnervingly still. Abelard's eyes darted around in disbelief as he knelt beside her.
