Chapter 1353 - Chapter 1: Pitcher Instinct

The indoor training facility of the Seidou High School baseball team is brightly lit.

The expedition to Koshien is about to begin, and the first team of the Seidou High School baseball team has recently been going through extra training sessions, which are being done very restrainedly.

At this time, most of the usual players would have probably already gone to their dorms to rest. However, the sound of someone still practicing can be heard in the indoor training hall.

"Still not working?"

Kuramochi, who is helping with batting, furrowed his brows and asked.

The one pitching, Sawamura, shook his head.

On the receiving end were Miyuki, Kuramochi, and the specially invited Okumura, and Yui all showed expressions of disappointment.

Sawamura had mentioned before that when they played against Raichi, he had a very strange feeling.

This feeling guided him on what kind of pitch he should throw.

Being baseball players, hearing this, everyone naturally scoffed.

How could that be?

If there really was someone who could do something like that, this skill would have surely made them famous all over the world by now.

But based on what they knew, it seemed like no one in the world had ever had such a talent.

If anyone else had said this, not Sawamura, they would have definitely thought the person was crazy.

But since Sawamura joined Seidou High School, he has brought so many incredible things to the baseball team.

When the Demon King, Sawamura, said that he could do it, even though they knew this thing sounded absurd, they couldn't help but believe it to some extent.

After the game, everyone didn't rest but immediately came to the indoor training hall to try it out.

If Sawamura really had such a thing, this would certainly be big news.

And as long as he didn't face any major setbacks in his growth, Sawamura's future would undoubtedly be brighter than anyone could imagine.

They were all waiting for a miracle to happen.

But after testing for more than a dozen pitches, Sawamura helplessly spread his hands to his teammates.

He couldn't do it!

After the game, the strange feeling he had seemed to have completely disappeared.

When facing Kuramochi, he could no longer feel the premonition of danger.

"What's going on?"

"Could it be that Kuramochi-senpai is too weak, so Sawamura-senpai can't feel anything?"

Yui puffed out his cheeks and asked in confusion.

His words successfully stirred Kuramochi's dissatisfaction.

Kuramochi glared fiercely at his junior, Yui, and said ominously, "What did you just say?"

Yui quickly made an innocent face and responded, "Nothing, senpai. I didn't say anything."

"Hmph, it better be like that!"

The current Kohais were really unlikable, and deserving of a good scolding.

Kuramochi had originally thought that Yui was a good kid, but now he realized his judgment was off.

Miyuki ignored their argument and spoke to Sawamura.

"This possibility does exist."

Miyuki also believed that it was possible that the threat level Kuramochi posed wasn't strong enough, which is why Sawamura couldn't sense anything.

"How about we try switching the catcher?"

Kuramochi, who was nearby, was already furious.

This guy Miyuki was really something else.

What did he mean by that?

Did he also think that the threat Kuramochi posed wasn't strong enough?

That was why Sawamura couldn't sense the same feeling he had during the game.

Sawamura vaguely guessed that the situation wasn't that simple.

But he didn't have the heart to dismiss Miyuki's good intentions.

He nodded at Miyuki. "How about letting those two guys catch the ball, and you try batting?"

Kuramochi, who had come to help, felt like he was about to explode.

'These guys were really arrogant.'

They treated him like garbage.

Used him and then tossed him aside, not even giving him a second thought.

Miyuki also moved to the Batter's Box, watching Sawamura as he lightly swung his bat.

He didn't seem to be trying to bluff; he had really decided that as soon as Sawamura's pitch came, he would hit it.

He was fully simulating an actual game.

Miyuki thought that the reason Sawamura no longer felt the same way as before might also be related to the opponent's mindset.

When Sawamura held the ball, he did indeed feel a certain level of threat from Miyuki.

'This is it!'

He was happy inside and then, just like in the game, he imagined throwing a specific pitch.

'Fastball!'

'Breaking ball!'

'Inside corner!!'

'Outside corner!!!'

The sense of threat still existed, and it even made Sawamura feel uncomfortable.

He felt like his skin was itching.

However, no matter what type of pitch he planned to throw, the sense of threat coming from Miyuki didn't change noticeably.

This meant that the pressure he was feeling was solely due to Miyuki's strength.

It had nothing to do with what Sawamura felt during the game.

'As expected, it still didn't work…'

Sawamura wasn't too disappointed. He had previously faced off against Kuramochi and even tried using a real fastball to challenge him.

Although Kuramochi's batting ability wasn't as strong as Miyuki's, it would still be relatively easy for him to hit that pitch.

This meant that as long as Sawamura didn't add any variation to the pitch, there was at least an 80% chance it would be hit.

Even under those conditions, Sawamura didn't feel a very strong sense of threat.

At that point, Sawamura already vaguely understood that the strange feeling he had was probably gone.

After testing it out, they didn't get any results.

The teammates who were training with Sawamura all wore heavy expressions.

They looked at Sawamura, and opened their mouths, but didn't know what to say, eventually closing their mouths.

Everyone knew Sawamura's character; he would never joke around about something like this.

He must have really felt it, which is why he wanted everyone to practice with him.

But for now, the results of the training were clearly unsatisfactory.

The powerful asset he had just disappeared like smoke.

Anyone who encountered this would probably feel pretty bad.

At this moment, how was Sawamura feeling?

No need to ask, everyone could guess.

"Don't worry about me. It's fine whether I master this cheating skill or not. It's natural if I don't."

Sawamura himself took it very well.

Back in the Major League, Sawamura had already come up with the idea for the level 5 breaking ball.

And up until now, hadn't he still not developed the level 5 breaking ball?

For now, he only had an idea; whether it would succeed or not was still unknown.

This strange feeling was the same.

Sawamura still didn't know how to use it, train it, or how to master it.

Why should he be fixated on this?

Instead of worrying about it, it would be better to focus on developing his level 5 breaking ball.

Who knows, maybe with a flash of inspiration, he would develop the level 5 breaking ball.

Everything was still unknown.

Sawamura wasn't in a hurry. Not at all.

He was still young and had plenty of time to play baseball.

He could always find another opportunity to practice later.

"By the way, you guys, don't just focus on practicing with me. You need to work hard too. Didn't the coach still not decide who to bring along?"

The backup catcher for Koshien.

The Seidou High School baseball team already had Ono, and there were only 18 spots, so they could only bring one more catcher.

This meant that one of the two little guys in front of them would inevitably be eliminated.

This wasn't just for the upcoming Koshien; even after Koshien ended, Miyuki and the others would also graduate.

The main backup, number 12 Ono, was also a third-year player.

This meant that the players chosen to go to Koshien had a good chance of becoming the core players for Seidou High School's new team.

This was the most important opportunity for Yui and Okumura.
