The elevator doors dinged, signalling its arrival at the basement floor. Aurelie stepped inside before they were fully open, pressing her floor number and then the button to close the doors. She fought the urge to slump against the wall. Exhaustion was in every cell of her body.
Sharon had pushed a stack of contracts at her in the morning… gigs that she thought were "interesting." Then came the perfume shoot, which, when she thought of it now, was an exercise in endurance rather than beauty. She had spent the day running through a flower garden, balancing on heels designed for pavement, not uneven terrain, and to top it all off, shivering in a freezing river. All in a day's work, apparently.
She still did not understand why everything had to be crammed into one day, but at least it was over. Tomorrow would be better. She could sleep in. She had nothing until the afternoon.
