Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Nature of Magic.

"Magic is all around us, your even breathing it in as we speak!" She again raised a finger. "It's the very thing that holds this world together. Without it the world would lose its stability and ceese to exist."

I raised my hand.

"Yes?"

"How did mages even figure out all this?" I said. I mean this is a mideviel world. Even if they have magic it's hard to believe they'd figure out what holds the very universe together.

"Oh about that." She smiles but at the same time looks embarrassed. "I did."

"What? How?"

"Well my eyes can see more than just the normal space around us. My eyes can see magic and the effects of said magic. Yours can't?"

"No. At least not that I know of."

"Mmm... Maybe it's because of this." She grabs my arm and suddenly everything turns a shade of blue, blue particles also float in the air.

"What did you do?"

"In simply sharing my magic with you. After all mages use the same magic, it only changes once you decide what form you want that magic to take, water, fire, earth, wind."

"So I just didn't have enough magic for my eyes to see all this?" Why does that even matter?

"The more magic your body can absorb, the more you become one with magic." She let's go and my vision returns to normal.

"What would you like to order?" A waitress had walked over while we were talking.

"Ale, and chicken soup please. What about you?" Her eyes sparkled at chicken soup. And ale? Isn't she too young? Wait no mideviel world. She's a adult in this world.

"I'll have the same." I said, to be honest I have no idea what they have so I just said I wanted the same as Garden.

The waitress nods. "Your food will be out soon." She saids.

"So as I was saying, the more you are one with magic, the more you can control and even see it."

I have to wonder... Just how much magic does this girl have? My stat said 30, And that was triple the average. I might be talking to a monster.

She continues, "Even so, only a select few can use it, and even fewer can see it like us, Oh and don't worry, when you gain more mana capacity, you should be able to procive it like me."

I can gain mana by upgrading my Magic stat, although I probably shouldn't tell her about the status screen. I don't want to have to explain anything past my name at this point.

The waitress walks back over holding two plates on a tray and holding two cups of ale with one hand. "Here you are." She sets them on the table then leaves.

The cups of ale seem to be wooden. Could I get a splinter from this? Same with the spoon...

Garden suddenly uses... What might be wind magic to lift up her spoon, scoop the soup, and then bring it to her mouth. When she takes a bite, her eyes light up once again. Can she control that? Wait, Thats not the priority right now.

"How does one increase their magic capacity? And how would I use magic?"

She takes a sip of ale, she actually grabs it this time. "That's simple. You increase magic capacity by well... Using magic, and with how to use magic..." She lifts up her hand and what appeared to be a book? No more like a grimore appears in a blue flash.

"Yeah, 'novice mage'" I said.

She smiles and says "all that means is that I'm new to the magician's guild not to magic."

"Good point."

She hands me the grimore. And says "I'm lending this to you because your a fellow blessed one. When your done head to the magician guild. I'll be there." She says then continues "This is a book of magic and how to use it."

"Thank you." Even so this must be valuable. Is she trusting me because of my CHR stat? And magicians guild? So there are guilds. That means there's probably a adventurers guild. Mhm.

"Hey uh-"

"Now let's drink! After all I've only recently come of age."

I guess I can ask later as she's already drunk...

I look at the wooden cup filled with a yellow foamy liquid. Well it's ok in this world so I should just adapt. But I'll make sure not to drink too much...

...*

I've somehow found myself carrying a drunk 'Novice' mage with dark blue hair, and Glowing eyes. With Uncharacteristically fancy robes and who is also a ripe 15 year old alcoholic. She's lucky I need more information... Or else I would have left her in the inn. Now why you ask she didn't just buy a room there? Because it turns out she's tight on money and already has a inn she's staying at... And I wasn't going to pay for her.

It's night out and we've been walking for about 30 minutes. The sun was going down as we entered the inn. So if I had to estimate... We probably spent around 3 hours in there.

"Take that aic turn." She points past my head.

Yes I am giving her a piggy back ride. And yes I am feeling that 10%. I am quite unpleased.

She speaks again, "Y'know your a nice guy. Doin this for me."

She's a classic drunk person...

"No problem." My eye twitched slightly.

"I really aic owe you one."

Well at least now a capable mage feels as if she owes me. Could be useful in the future.

"That's the last turn, there!"

"Ok."

I take the turn and see where she's been staying. It's not a bad place... Not as clean as the other one but not horrible. There was a sighn saying, The Red Rose. Sounds like another kind of business other than a inn...

The sign has a... Obviously a rose on it.

"Hold on." I said as I use one of my hands to open the front door.

When I entered, the receptionist... Maybe owner, she has brown hair tied in a bun with brown eyes, she's wearing basic clothes like me. When she looks at me, she puts on a friendly smile, then looks who I'm carrying and that smile disappears like magic. Maybe she's a mage too.

"Well, well, well, Ms. Bluefox. I thought you weren't coming in today..." The lady says.

Garden responds, "Well I have to aic sleep somewhere."

"Yes, but this is the first time someone carried you here..." The Owner I guessed looked at me with almost what looked like pity. At least someone feels for me.

"No it's fine." I said then continued, "She gave me information and even let me borrow a grimier."

The owners eyes widen when she see the grimore tucked under my arm. Then she responds, "That one?" She smiles and looks at Garden. I feel Garden move slightly like turning her head away. Mhm.

"So I'll just leave her here." I walked over to a table and sat down Garden.

"Why don't you buy a room?"

"I'm fin-" Wait, that would probably be easier then having to walk all the way back to the Moonlight Stone uh? Plus I have a few more questions and don't want to walk down here in the morning again...

"Thank you. I think I will."

The owner smiled "10 copper for night, or you could share a room with-"

I toss her a gold coin. "Do you have change for that?" I probably should have changed my gold coins into other types of coins but I obviously got distracted.

Her eyes widen. "Y-yes we do." She then takes the coin and gives me 10 silver coins. So a gold coin equals 10 silver coins? Thats good to know. "R-room ten."

"Thank you." I respond.

She tossed me two keys. I look at them for a second confused. "What's this one for-"

Why don't you also take Garden to her room since you'res is next to hers, she's room nine.

"Can't you?" I ask.

"Who do you think I am? Her mom?"

'Well I'm not her dad...' I think to myself.

"I sigh, Ok, Garden let's go." I pick her up again.

"Ok..." She says.

I walk up stairs and down a small hallway until I find room nine.

"Hey Garden can you take it from here?"

"..."

"Garden?"

"...zzz"

She's asleep. Sigh. I open her door after trying the wrong key and then trying the other one. I push her door open and I set her down on her bed. Don't expect me to tuck you in.

I leave the key on the desk next to her bed and leave her room. I close the door behind. I am a gentleman after all.

I then walk over to my door with the sign in front that says room 10. I use my key to open it and walk in and close and my door behind me.

It wasn't a bad room. There was a desk with a chair in the corner with a lantern on it. A bed that would be twin sized in my world, and it's sheets where white and clean. With a small desk next to the bed. There was also a window with a window imbedded in the wall the face the outside.

I sit on the chair and face the desk.

"No time for sleep." I whisper to myself. I then put the grimore on the desk and open it... This... This is amazing.
