Mrs. Ning watched her warily, her anger causing her to slam the thermos she held onto the table beside her with a thud, as she stared at the doctor and began, "My son is no longer with us; this is my only grandchild, be it a grandson or granddaughter. And now you're telling me that this child cannot be kept? Fine, fine, I really want to hear this – what are you going to say? It's just a child with Down syndrome, isn't it? It's still a matter of probability. How can you just use this one thing to determine the only child of our family's future?! What if it turns out to be fine after it is born?"
