Shen Nie did not respond, simply instructing, "Arrange the night patrols well; we leave on time at 9 a.m. tomorrow."
"Yes."
Shen Nie entered the room next to Ming Mei's.
Pushing open the bathroom door, he turned on the shower faucet, and the warm water cascaded down, drenching Shen Nie from head to toe in no time.
Shen Nie stayed in the bathroom for half an hour before he came out, changed into dry clothes, his hair still dripping, and lay directly on the bed.
He was very tired that day, more so than ever before, as if taking one step would deplete all his strength.
Because everything he did that day was not what he truly wanted to do.
That night, Shen Nie did not know whether he could fall asleep. The thought of having to hand Ming Mei over to someone else once again the next day chased away any semblance of drowsiness.
In the winter of the South, the weather is not as cold as in the North, but it is somehow even more unbearable.
