Chapter 98 - Chapter 97: Sunken Ruins of Melusine

3 days later…

At noon on Erisen dock…

"Papa, are you really going to leave me again, sniff…" Myu, with teary eyes, looked at me.

Seeing her tearfully looking at him, Rihito inwardly groaned, [ugh!].

Rihito didn't show his emotion on his face and gently explained, "Myu, what have I said to you before? You are still not ready yet. The day you are, I will take you on an adventure myself. For that day to come, you only need to continue with your training, will you do that?" Rihito rubbed her tears away.

"Sniff… Yes," Myu said, trying to stop her tears, nodding.

"Good, and don't worry, I will be back soon." I petted her head.

I stood up and looked at Remia, "Take care of her and yourself."

"Of course, and take care of yourself, darling," Remia said with a flirtatious smile on display.

With a troubled nod, I walked towards the submarine.

"Papaaa, see you later," Myu waved her hand, a slight hint of tears still there.

"Ufufu… come home soon, dear." Her flirtatious smile is still present.

Rihito sighed as he sensed the two glares bore down on him. At this point, he had given up on stopping Remia from making her moves on him, although he had to say it was, from the beginning, a lost cause. From the moment Myu called him papa, his fate was sealed with her. Still, he had to know a few things, so he did some snooping around.

In these past three days, after he helped the girls create mana core, he had snooped around about Remia's husband, and what he discovered was terrible and strange; for some reason, nobody remembered what the husband looked like. I used my telepathy on some people, only to receive a blurry image. I asked them about what he looked like, everyone said they don't remember; they only knew that he was once here, and one day vanished, never to be seen again. After that, nobody knew whether he was dead or alive.

Hearing all that, Rihito was furious, who the fuck was that dead beat bastard that left someone as precious as Myu. If he ever found out, he would beat the life out of him. Well, if he were alive, that is.

Rihito, taking his seat on the submarine, nodded at Hajime. He then drove it towards the distance, in the direction where 'The Sunken Ruins of Melusine' were supposed to be.

"Rihito," Shea called out.

"Hmmm…" Rihito looked back.

"What are you going to do with Remia?" Shea asked, even though she had an idea what he would say.

"Nothing, I will just let nature take its course. I can do nothing here," Rihito responded, his voice tired.

In this case, he really can't do anything. If he rejects Remia, and Myu finds out. He was sure Myu would cry, and then what if she starts hating him, and even worse, if she said that directly to his face. What will he do then? He is not sure he would be able to survive hearing that. Just thinking about that gave him shivers.

Shea, seeing Rihito shiver, sighed, "I guess Remia will join us then."

Shea looked at Shizuku and Tohru, "We have more competition than."

Shizuku also sighed as Kaori tried to comfort her. While Tohru acted nonchalantly.

While everyone chattered, Rihito did a final check and sensed everyone had a mana core, which, as he expected, had qualitatively increased everyone's mana. Nodding to himself, he looked ahead.

"Alright, guys, ready, here we go." With that warning, Hajime pulled a lever, increasing the propeller speed as the submarine went towards the north, about half a day from here, the supposed location where the labyrinth lies.

It took us about 6 hours to get there. We watched the orange sunset as it bathed the world with its orange light, creating a picturesque view.

Currently, on the dock, we are waiting for the sun to set, for the moonlight, which will show us the path to the labyrinth.

I was enjoying the scene while getting a lap pillow from Tohru, everything was going beautifully. But as they say, after good times comes the bad time, and I was no different.

"Rihito," Shea called out.

"What is it?" I responded feeling a bit lazy.

"How long are you going to stay like that?" Shea eyed Rihito, seeing him getting a lap pillow from Tohru.

"..."

Rihito wanted to say, 'It was you guys who played a stone, paper, scissors game, and this was the outcome. But not wanting to dig his own grave, he didn't say it and tactfully buried the thought and responded, "I was thinking till sunset."

Hearing that response, her glare became a bit sharper. Rihito inwardly sighed. He still didn't understand how his desire to lie down for a moment suddenly turned into an all-out brawl between Shea, Shizuku and Tohru for the lap pillow position, and by the way, Tohru won. Which is why she was using her thighs as a lap pillow.

Rihito then got an idea that might calm her and give him some peace.

"Shea, come here," I asked her to get near. Which she did, I then asked her to sit down near me. When she sat, I grabbed her head and placed her on my lap as a pillow.

"..."

Shea was speechless, getting a sudden lap pillow from Rihito; she didn't know what to say. A moment ago, she was a bit mift about her loss and complained and next she found herself on his lap. She then sensed Rihito stroking her head and scratching her bunny ears, which felt great, so she didn't say anything and continued enjoying his lap.

"Cough!"

Hearing the cough, I looked near the hatch and saw Shizuku standing, with an annoyed frown, and both of her hands on her waist. "What's going on here?"

"..."

I just looked at her and directly asked, "wanna join?"

Although it took a little convincing, Shizuku did join and lay her head on my stomach as I stroked both of their heads while Tohru stroked mine.

Just like that, the sun sets, and the moon's light bathes the world.

"It's time," Rihito said.

Hajime pulled out the pendant, the symbol of the Grand Gruen Volcano. He then let the pendulum face the moon and let it absorb the moonlight. Slowly, the centre of the pendant started to glow, and soon, a green beam of light shot out, pointing inside the sea.

"Guess that's our clue," I said, looking at the place the beam of light was pointing.

"Wow~" Shea, seeing the scene, voiced what everyone was thinking.

"So this light will guide us towards the labyrinth entrance," asked Shizuku.

"It seems," Tio said, looking at the pendant.

"Guys, let's do our best," Kaori cheerfully said.

The submarine followed the light towards the depths of the sea, reaching a sea canyon. The light pointed at a wall.

Hajime saw the wall and slowed the submarine. Hajime, seeing this, was about to launch some missiles, but before he could, the wall split opened on itself, clearing the way.

"A hidden door, such a classic trope," Rihito smiled.

"I know, right?" Hajime nodded.

Yue, Shea, Tohru and Tio had a question mark on their head, not understanding what they were talking about. They then looked at the two who looked like they understood.

Yue, at first, looked at Kaori, wanting to ask her, but at the last moment, she changed her target to Shizuku. "What do they mean?"

"Oi! Did you just ignore me?" Kaori shouted.

Yue continued to ignore her and looked at Shizuku.

Shizuku, seeing their antics, explained.

While the girls were busy, Rihito and Hajime drove the submarine through the hidden path. Right then, an alarm went off, warning that there was some turbulence ahead.

"Everyone, brace yourself," Rihito warned, just as the submarine made contact with the violent water currents.

"Wah!" Shizuku

"Ha!" Tohru

"Hyaa!" Tio

"Kyaa!" Shea

"Hm!" Yue

The whole submarine violently shook as Hajime kept the submarine stable.

Rihito, seeing the troublesome situation, wanted to know the clear picture of the situation. He clicks a few buttons, and the submarine, in response, sends a magical wave and scans the area. The result was then shown on the screen.

On the screen, we get the reading of 4 strong woolpools adjacent to each other, creating a very troublesome area.

"..."

"What a pain," Hajime growled in annoyance.

"I guess the labyrinth trial has started already," with a sigh, I started to navigate the least dangerous path.

In this turbulent area, we were unable to go straight as the pendulum pointed, so we had to go through the Whirlpool currents. From one whirlpool to another, it was a tough road.

"Ugh, I don't feel well, I'm gonna puke," Shea said, nauseously.

It was not only her; except for Tio and Tohru, almost everyone gritted their teeth and waited for this feeling to go away.

Lucky for them, Rihito found the way out of the turbulence.

"Hajime," I sent him the information.

"On it," Hajime then followed the route, bringing the submarine out of the turbulence to the calm waters.

"Fhew, we are finally out…" Before he could say anything more, the alarm started to ring again.

"Bloody hell, not again," I was disgruntled. The screen then showed an enormous school of fish heading our way. These fish didn't look normal, their scales look extra durable, and their fins are sharp like swords.

"What are the chances these fish can easily tear through the submarine armour?" I tried to joke.

Hajime groaned, "I don't know and don't want to know. Ready the torpedoes."

"It's a good time to test the torpedoes out, don't you think?" Hajime said, grinning.

"Yeah, I guess so," Rihito said with a similar grin on his face.

Rihito instantly got to work and pressed the button, making the preparations, "Locking the target, Launching in 3, 2, 1"

Click

Many hatches open from the submarine's fins, from there about 25 torpedoes were launched. Each torpedo launched reached near supersonic speed before making contact.

Booom!!

Booom!

Boooom!!!

As the torpedoes made contact with them, they exploded, tearing the fish to shreds, as the elements did their work.

Some of the fish got frozen, some were electrocuted, and some were burned and exploded. These are the special missiles Rihito and Hajime created after infusing each element. They had created this a while back but never got the chance to use it until now. As they expected, the result was phenomenal.

Even then, there are many swordfish monsters heading this way.

Seeing the number of monsters heading our way, I decided to test something out.

"Hajime, I am using that," Rihito informed, looking serious.

Hajime, with a serious frown, said, "You know if you used that, it would be dangerous for us as well."

"Yeah, that's why I will be going out by myself, to handle the aftermath," Rihito said with an assuring smile.

"Fine," Hajime agreed as he prepared the torpedoes.

Rihito got up and headed for the hatch.

Shea, Shizuku, seeing him go, asked questions, but he stole them and went ahead.

"Rihito, I am launching it. Get ready," Hajime warned.

Then the scream shifted and showed Rihito, "I am in position."

""Rihito,"" Shea and Shizuku said with surprise.

"What is he doing there?" Shizuku asked.

Hajime didn't answer.

"I am launching the gravity bomb in 3, 2, 1," Hajime clicks the launch button.

Instantly, a distinct metallic torpedo different from the others was launched.

The torpedo targeted the centre of the school and exploded there, creating a gravitational pull on everything nearby: fish, water, the terrain, and the submarine. The gravity bomb drew everything into its centre. As some of the swordfish reached the centre, they were crushed like meat paste. It was not just the swordfish; other things, like rocks and plants, met the same fate. The bomb was accumulating energy and getting ready for the second stage of the explosion. Everything compressed in the centre would explode outward, scattering everything that had been drawn in.

Hajime sees the submarine getting pulled in by the gravitational pull, immediately increasing the speed to full throttle, trying to get out of the danger zone.

"Shit, the speed is not enough, the gravitational pull is stronger than expected," Hajime saw the submarine was getting dragged back.

"Rihito, we are getting pulled in," Hajime shouted.

"I am on it, just for precaution, asked Yue, Kaori and Tio to enhance the barrier," Rihito suggested as he looked at the centre of the ground zero.

Rihito, standing over the hull, hung up and looked ahead. "It's my turn."
