"Wait, there's a place for people like me who can learn to control their powers?" Gambit said as we scouted the facility of the Weapon X Program.
"Yep, so far, there's a few us that go there, and our professor wants to recruit you," I told him while using Telepathy to scan for any minds in the building. "There's about 11 people in the building, five of them seem to be scientists and the other five are guards, but there's one mind I can't really get a read on, their mind is kinda chaotic."
"Huh, so that's your power. Why don't you take a peak inside Gambit's mind, mon amie," Remy flirted.
"Let's just go ahead and steal these diaries," I said with a slight smile but also shaking my head.
I forgot he was such a notorious flirt. I should've tried harder to convince Rouge to join the school so she could be here right now to at least take some of the focus of me.
We left our spot and snuck our way into the facility. I used Telepathy to mask our presence from the inhabitants in the building. It's not at a very good level since this is only my second time doing this skill, so we shouldn't get caught unless they have a telepath of their own or they have someone with Wolverine's keen sense of smell.
"We should be good for now, I've masked our presence with my telepathy, so unless they have a telepath or someone with super senses we should be good," I told Gambit as we entered and empty room.
"Good, now we at least need to map out this place and try to guess where those diaries are at," he said as he looked around the room to see if there was any blueprints of the building laying around.
"I don't think there's any blueprints around here," I told him.
"You're right. Let's continue looking around," he said, opening the door and peaking his head out to see if the coast was clear.
With a nod of his head, we left out of the room and started walking through the hallway. Passing by guards and scientists alike, without any of them noticing us.
"Amon really knows how to pick 'em," Gambit said, impressed by my psionic cloaking.
I gave him a cocky smile and entered the room that the scientists were entering since that might possibly be where Mr. Essex's diaries are. Gambit followed close behind, and we both stopped as we gazed at what was being displayed.
The room itself seemed to be like an observation room/deck. The thing that all the scientists were observing, which had me stunned, was the adamantium bonding process for X-23, aka Laura Kinney, Wolverine's daughter.
'Oh shit,' I thought to myself.
"What's going on, Mon amie?" Gambit whispered to me.
"They're bonding that girl's skeleton with one of the strongest metals on Earth," I whispered back to him.
"I see the diaries, I'm gonna grab 'em," Gambit whispered.
He quietly walked over to the only table in this room that had three medium-sized journals. Gambit picked up all three and stuffed them into his long jacket before making his way back to me.
"What about the girl? We can't just leave her here," I said to him as we exited the room.
"We have to leave before they find out those journals are gonna. Besides, Gambit ain't no hero," he said.
Well, he's not wrong, and frankly, I'm not a hero either, but I can't just leave here knowing what situation Laura is in. Well, I was bound to break things from canonically happening. I might as well do it now and save Laura some of the stress her life was put through.
Curse my human morals.
"You can leave, but I'm gonna rescue that girl," I said just as alarms started to blare throughout the building.
Well, at least it'll only be five guards to take out. I can just simply put them and the scientists to sleep and then grab Laura. Hopefully, they didn't do a trigger scent for her like they did in the comics.
I really hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew.
