Owyn shielded his eyes from the bright light that shone down on the platform he stood upon. He'd been given an impromptu magical cleaning and ordered to change into the more formal, but still plain, grey suit he now wore, and had been given a pair of boots that resized themselves to fit him the moment he slipped his feet inside. The suit had done the same, which spoke to just how much magic the inhabitants of the city could throw around if they were giving a nobody like him magical clothing.
The light had the effect of turning the figures that surrounded him into blurry shadows, except for the pair of guards that stood behind him with impassive looks on their faces. Only one of the figures struck Owyn as being potentially a giant, until the shadows shifted enough to reveal horns atop the demon's head.
Shit, what have I gotten myself into? He wondered for the millionth time.
