Chapter 4680 - Chapter 3756 Doomsday (12)

"You want me to kill the representatives of the Three Great Empires at the banquet?!" Polaris looked at Charles in disbelief and said, "But didn't you always tell me to avoid conflicts with those Skrulls? You also told me to control my temper and stop picking fights..."

"Sit down, Lorna, sit down." Charles patted Polaris's arm soothingly and motioned for her to sit down. Polaris slowly sat down. Charles said, "The past is not like the present. We were focusing on development in the Andromeda Galaxy, quietly gaining wealth. Besides, your father's fighting skills are enough. His target selection skills are far superior to yours. Think about it, when has he ever not gained the most loot with the least cost? And you?"

Polaris blushed a bit. She pressed her lips together, recalling how she used to admire Magneto's prowess, hoping to emulate him in attacking convoys, only to find herself often on the losing end. Not only did she get injured, but she also failed to bring back much loot. Since then, she had to admit that even looting required skill.

As an experienced hand, Magneto could clearly distinguish between easy and tough targets. He never greedily lingered after squeezing the easy ones. But Polaris was different; she couldn't discern which convoys were easy to attack and which weren't. Even after an attack, she would linger, hoping to net more goods, which almost got her caught by reinforcements multiple times. Each time she'd return, she would face a scolding.

"So, what's different this time?" Polaris asked, "They're not bringing any significant resources, right? Besides, it's in Asgard. Killing people on their territory doesn't seem right, does it?"

"You've grown up." Charles said somewhat gratified.

Seeing Charles's very youthful face, Polaris was noticeably embarrassed. She rubbed her arm and said, "If you don't want to revert and continue talking, then maybe we should skip this discussion, Professor. Let's talk serious business. Why do I need to kill the representatives of the Three Great Empires?"

"To stir the pot."

"Huh?"

"Simply put, Earth needs a ticket to participate in interstellar affairs—not as a subordinate under Asgard but independently involved. It's like the United Nations—you know the United Nations, right?"

Polaris nodded.

"Now it's like, China, the US, and Russia are at odds, and we're one of the states in another significantly powerful developed country. These three nations are all vying for that developed country's support, and we want to get involved too, aiming for independence. So how do we get involved?"

Polaris frowned and said, "You're suggesting that we kill the diplomats dispatched by these three nations? But isn't that too extreme? Asgard itself wouldn't allow such a thing, would it? Are we going to fall out with Asgard?"

"Quite the opposite, Asgard will support us," Charles shook his head and said, "Even though the current situation is chaotic, the war will eventually end. In the peacetime following the war, voting will still be the main system. Asgard, being a long-standing sidelined force in cosmic affairs, only has half a vote. Which of those three Empires doesn't have numerous vassals? Asgard urgently desires another vote. If possible, they'd want every race within the Nine Major Kingdoms to have one vote, able to contend with the Three Great Empires."

Polaris thought about it, and it seemed to make sense. In the United Nations now, the big nations hold quite a few small nations' votes. Even if they can't outvote, having enough votes applies enough pressure. Isn't that what voting is all about?

Previously, Asgard didn't care simply because they didn't intend to participate in interstellar affairs. But now that they're planning to return to the Interstellar Society, naturally they need to gather votes.

But how many subordinates does Asgard have? The key is how many capable subordinates do they have? Odin's conquests in those years annihilated most notable races in the Nine Major Kingdoms, leaving only those that couldn't be of much help like the Dark Elves. At this point, humanity is Asgard's only choice.

Thus, humanity must seize this opportunity to secure an independent vote. Asgard will definitely support it, at least during future interstellar council votes, having someone to vote alongside wouldn't look too embarrassing. Apart from the Three Great Empires, the other advanced civilizations, like the small nations on Earth, basically only have one or two votes. Asgard managing to have one and a half votes would be good enough.

Polaris nodded to show she understood, then said, "But no matter what, the Three Great Empires are still the Three Great Empires. If we kill their people, wouldn't that make them more opposed to our entry into the United Nations?"

Charles shook his head again and said, "Lorna, think carefully about it. Which of the current countries in the human United Nations, especially the influential permanent Security Council members, gained entry by getting approval from others? And why can't those non-permanent Security Council countries secure approval from others?"

Polaris clearly didn't have that political acumen; her brain was nearly overheating. So she resorted to her trump card, shaking Charles's arm and saying, "Stop keeping me in suspense, Professor. Just tell me directly. I really can't figure it out."

This led Charles to feel genuinely troubled. These young mutants were competent in combat, but none had political acumen—each one was more clueless than the last.

"Becoming a permanent Security Council member is not achieved by asking, but by fighting." Charles said directly, "If you ask others whether you can become a permanent Security Council member, it proves you'll never become one. Because there's only one way to become a permanent member, and that's by overwhelming everyone else. By then, they'll be begging you to join."

"Oh—" Polaris suddenly understood and excitedly said, "So this time I'm just going to stir things up, find an excuse to start a fight, and then overwhelm everyone. We'll naturally get our vote, right?"

"There's no need to beat everyone into submission, just hurt them enough." Charles spread his hands and said, "The Human race definitely can't wipe out the Three Great Empires in one go, but as long as we can hold our own against the three, even if only temporarily, it will be enough for us to have a significant standing in the interstellar council."

"It seems to be true." Lorna touched her chin and said, "The Five Powers within the United Nations, it seems each of them has fought many countries at the same time and yet hasn't lost. If we can do that, the Three Great Empires will have to show us respect."

"Exactly." Charles nodded with a smile and said, "Unfortunately, the Human race's past activities in the cosmos leave a lasting memory for the Three Great Empires, and they probably won't provoke us on their own. So we can only manufacture an 'accident' to start our campaign for a seat."

"An accident? What sort of accident?"

"It's hard to say at the moment, but there will always be opportunities." Charles said, "Don't worry, you are not alone. Not only will Mutants actively create opportunities for you, but we also have many allies. You're familiar with everyone else except one person to watch out for, and that's the King of Latvia, Doctor Doom..."

"Ha, that guy really infuriated Tony Stark." Iceman Bobby, sitting across from Lorna, lowered his voice and said, "I really don't know what grudge they have, needing to argue on someone else's turf."

Lorna returned to her senses in a daze and suddenly realized something. She turned her head to glance at Stark, who had slammed the table and stood up, immediately tensing her muscles and gave Iceman a look.

Almost instantly, golden light and Venom's roars intertwined, a massive black figure bounced twice like a pinball and slammed heavily onto the table in front of Lorna.

Glasses shattered, food splattered. If you pressed pause at this moment and looked elsewhere, you would see the perpetrator, Doctor Doom, diving under the table with a "whoosh", Scarlet Witch retreating in horror, Superheroes scrambling, Omega-Level Mutants caught off guard, until Lorna screamed:

"Ah!!!!!!!!"

"Oh no! She's losing control!!!" Wanda not only didn't stop her but used the precious emergency response time to shout, "Run!!!"

In an instant, countless superpowers shone brightly, the restaurant's glass shattered in an instant, and the diners fled, pulling each other along, clearing out in two or three seconds.

Steve held up his shield in front of him, leaping down from upstairs and rushing to the square in front of the Fairy Palace with the fastest speed. Everyone else landed in various poses.

Immediately after, the electromagnetic storm swept over the Fairy Palace, visible magnetic arcs shot up, and with a "crack", shattered the main island's protective shield. The magnetic storm spread from the breach, causing the entire island to tremble.

"Not good! The stability system has been disrupted!" Steve frowned and said, "Quick, let's head to the Divine King!"

Just as the group ran toward the Divine King's chamber of the Fairy Palace, all the diplomats of other civilizations ran out of their rooms, bewildered. What's going on? Did the Three Great Empires attack Asgard?!

And the people from the other two Empires seemed to have anticipated this. Supreme Wisdom slammed the table, and all the Kree Empire soldiers ran out like their lives depended on it, directly colliding with the equally frantically running Skrull Empire.

These old rivals had never been happier to see each other alive—one more person means one more shield! Say no more, run, and those who run slowly are at the front!

These two groups dashed towards the backyard, and others who emerged were also brought towards the backyard by them. But before they could run out of the Fairy Palace's territory, a white light flashed, and everyone fainted.

Don't forget, both the Kree Empire and Skrull Empire consist of Cyborgs. What do machines fear the most? Isn't it just EMP?

Their protection level is high, typical electromagnetic storms can't do much to them, but Lorna in full force is not weak. These years, she's been following Magneto in the Andromeda Galaxy, even if she didn't learn all of her father's skills, she's at least learned 80 percent. And since she wasn't really out of control but deliberately targeting them, she took down all the people from the Kree Empire and Skrull Empire.

Others weren't spared either; if they weren't taken out by Lorna, they were knocked out by Wanda, either way, they were all unconscious.

And when they woke up again, what they received was the terrible news of twelve deaths and four serious injuries from the Shi'ar Empire delegation, one of the Three Great Empires.
