Kafka strode down the hallway, his shoulders broad and steady under the weight of Olivia and Abigaille, each slung over a side like prized catches. Olivia's body swayed gently with his steps, her hands hovering near his back and all the while she marveled at the ripple of muscle on his back, the way his strength seemed effortless, carrying two grown women without breaking a sweat.
Her fingers itched to trace those muscles, to feel their tautness shift as he moved, curiosity bubbling in her chest about just how strong her son had become. The warmth of his body also seeped into her, a comforting anchor after the wild night, and she let herself relax into the sensation, her legs dangling behind him.
