May finishes the soup and wipes her mouth, setting the spoon down. "Thank you." She beams at me, "I'm full."
"Good." I smile back at her and kiss her forehead. "Do you think you'll be alright now?"
"Yes." She nods firmly, her eyes filled with determination. "Yes. I will. Be okay."
There may as well be flames in her little blue eyes. It's quite cute.
"And do you wanna walk or be carried back to the market?"
"Um. Carry." May mumbles, her cheeks flushing. "I....um-"
"It's okay to be sleepy after a meal." I assure her. "It's natural."
She blushes and tucks her face against my shoulder. "M'kay."
I hoist her up into my arms and carry her out of the inn, waving goodbye to Lucas as we leave. He waves back cheerily.
We walk back to the marketplace. May's eyes are half-lidded and sleepy by the time I set her down again, and she clings to me as we make our way through the crowd.
