It feels like it's been much longer than it actually has been, when we finally pull into Lucas' land again.
May jumps up and down in the middle of the wagon, flapping her arms. "WE'RE HOME! WE'RE HOME! I'M HOOOOOOOOOME!"
As usual, I can't help but smile at her excitement.
I peek outside to look around, as Roland gives a light little laugh and pats May's head.
May preens, fluttering her eyelashes as she does a little twirl, apparently determined to get the most from this moment.
"Welcome home, May." Roland says.
"Thanks, Gramps! This is my home! This is mine!!" She bounces in place as she exclaims it proudly. "It's. MINE."
I lean back against the wall and close my eyes as May gets settled down.
I suppose we're really home, aren't we?
It's something I'm still getting used to.
"My home!" Lucas chirps back at May.
She smiles happily, bouncing in place. "Home! It's! Good to! Be home! Home!"
