C215: Disgust

With the Orc Disaster first being taken care of, and Charybdis second. Demon Lord Milim finally leaves to do something outside the city, probably annoy the demon lords or something but during this time, Rimuru and his people finally get a moment of peace which the slime plans to capitalize on by going to a distant capital and attempt to help the otherworldly kids that were entrusted to him by Shizue, the hero conqueror of Flames.
As Rimuru hosts his little goodbye, he spots Axel brooding in the back which is fairly odd for the prophetic son and the slime father cant help but ask.
"Are you alright?"
"Yea, just a little annoyed with something that is to happen. I also ran into a roadblock on how to get stronger now in the short run"
"Why do you need so much strength?" The reincarnator asks a second question as a follow up.
"Need to keep my family safe and to be able to go anywhere unfettered." Axel offers a simple reply
"Okay, now, in all your prophetic wisdom, what advice can you give me for my trip, if any" The slime has a meek expression as they ask this, seemingly hating that he has to rely on Axel so much for things that are quite simple in nature.
"You already ate that girl you were fated with, the answer lies in her memories. But a second hint would be something you would do anyways but take down the flying insect when it shows up" he offers two vague hints that don't outright give him all the clues that he needs which Rimuru happily accepts.
"Osu, thanks for the tips, ill keep them in mind"
With a few goodbyes and entrusting certain duties to certain people, Rimuru heads out with Ranga the tempest wolf as his mount. As he heads out, he begins to ponder on the words Axel gave him as a gift. He already knows something about the kids from Shizue-sans memories. The necessary part is what it is he is looking for. The other thing he thinks about is what flying insect would he willingly squish to do anything.
"Neh, Ranga, what do you think of Axel, honestly"
"Master, he is scary, most monsters are able to tell the threat of others through their magic energy, like how we did with you master. But with him, he has nothing, if we didn't see or hear him then we would not know he is there at all. He is also alot stronger than he let's on but im sure master will catch up soon enough. Everyone is excited about your growth." The storm wolf proclaims his fears with sound logic but his tail happily flaps about as he says the last part.
"My growth? Hmm. I think that is also his fault" The slime opens his knapsack to reveal a dismembered arm that had been slightly chewed on. The slime sighs as he once again takes a single cell of the arm and let's his gluttony and great sage process it.
Honestly, he hates that he has this arm, luckily he had followed Axels warning when he got it weeks ago. Every single cell he eats gives him a pretty nasty magic boost but it also hurts him so badly. The first time he tried it, he felt like he was being burned all over and the fire only grew stronger with time until it was fully processed and he gained something called a law fragment. Great Sage told him that these fragments can be gathered to form complete laws which is essentially the final form of elemental magic.
He has already experienced fire, water, lightning and multiple times of them each. The weird one is definitely Earth, he just feels a crushing pressure which isn't too bad. No he cant think like that, he cant let the corruption spread.
While he continues his journey atop Ranga, he eats a bit of Axel about 6 times, only twice a day as otherwise he would lose his mind from the torment. Even Ranga feels the magical pressure as Rimuru gradually grows stronger from assimilating these tiny world fragments that make up its foundations of everyday life.
He can finally ditch the arm back into its bag, having finally arrived at the capital city of the Kingdom of Englassia. He has Ranga seep into his shadow while Rimuru himself takes human form before making his way into the city thanks to the paperwork he received from Fuze, Bulmunds guild master. This allows him to enter the city and progress to the Free Guild's main headquarters where he will meet another other-worlder from his homeworld.
Heading inside, Rimuru is ushered into a waiting room where he waits. He takes a good look around but doesnt notice as the arm stored within his bag simply walks away, using it's fingers akin to legs. After a moment Rimuru meets with the Guildmaster and it's founder, Yuuki Kagurasaki. There was some initial tension but after a few exchanges it all dissipates and Yuuki even jokingly acknowledges Rimuru as his 'shishou' due to the advanced manga and anime logic.
The two soon depart on friendly terms as Yuuki supports Rimuru in Shizue's last will to help the children. After hearing the greater details of the danger for children under 10 that are summoned, Rimuru understands the first hint given to him by Axel regarding shizue's memories holding the key, he just has to figure out what the key is.
Speaking of Axel, his main body is chilling in a pub where he pays off the hobgoblin owner to let him nap there all day long. Though for the arm that came out inside the office. Yuuki simply finds it lying down in the middle of the room after letting Rimuru out.
"EHHH, what is this, an arm? It doesnt seem to be bleeding all over my rug. I wonder who chose to leave this here? Quite the cryptic message as it doesnt seem to belong to anyone I know. Ew, did someone chew on it for a bit?" The guild head calmly and analytically analyzes the situation and the arm itself but he truly doesnt understand how it could have gotten here when suddenly the arm seems to rise in place on it's own.
"A warning to you…both of you. Abandon your feeble plots and schemes as they will only seek to piss me off should they come to pass. I can easily snap the neck of that little girl just as easy as your own" After those words were said, a portal opens under the hand which it seeps into before closing behind it and returning to Rimuru's bag.
The slime then went off to meet with the children. Nothing too new came up as he got to know the children and after some brainstorming, he connected their age with Shizue's when she arrived in this world. He finally understood the first part of the hint Axel gave about how a greater spirit is needed to help a child 'otherworlder' to live a longer life.
With the first hint being fairly obvious, Rimuru ponders the second hint but this just gets him teased by the children as they paint his appearance to an old man with Alzhemiers. He punishes the rude child by temporarily revoking his manga privileges which causes the others to halt any attempts to further the joke.
Like this the next few months pass by peacefully as the city of Rimuru continues to develop on it's own under Axel's protection. Rimuru himself continues teaching the children and attempting various ways to help them enjoy themselves while also ensuring that they train for the possible moment that they truly do become free of the threat of death.
One of the things that Axel notices during this time period is the larger number of humans likely a repercussion of the Kingdom of Falmuth's plan to destroy this nation early on.
'They are scouting, finding all the nooks and crannies like the rats they are. They find the locations where more monsters gather for their little ambush sometime soon. Now, when should I intervene? But I also have to intervene in a way that would still convince Rimuru to become a true demon lord through the war. Hah, ill probably leave soon as it's still some time before anything on my level is capable of showing up, if even." With a plan in hand, Axel returns to his rest as he processes the situation every once in a while to stay on top of things.
Though there is one thing that Axel did not actually expect is that a certain hobgoblin would designate herself as Axel's assistant. Her name is Peka, the twin sister of another hobgoblin named Peko who is an assistant chief to God'ichi. Both hobgoblins have the type of appearance that makes them much more human-like with only pale green skin, under different lighting, it would be no different than a regular pale human.
The only reason he accepted such a situation is due to being targeted by two unique skills that seemed to belong to Peka. The first being [Truth Seeking desire]. With this, she had figured out a general level of what his power was at. If he had rejected the observational skill, Peka's brain could have very likely melted from the intrusive skill backfiring.
Nevertheless, she saw his strength and that is when the second skill came in, [Revered Lord]. [Raphael] informed him that this skill was a type of unique bond where she can grow stronger the more she does things for her designated 'lord'. This is her reasoning for becoming his assistant, she even half followed Shion's example by wearing a formal suit but she kept a skirt that has a side slit to help reveal a bit of her legs. While Axel never actually gave her tasks, her skill allowed her to seemingly read his mood and thus prepare or do things for him. That or [Raphael] had been doing things behind his back by giving her actual tasks. Her growth has been quite fast as she has reached a similar power level as Shion in terms of physical strength and Shuna in terms of magical power. While the volume of her magical energies is lacking compared to Shion, her power and control is very much up there. This causes Axel to look at Peka with interest, then as if reading something, her face blushes and she turns away.
On the other side of the world, during these few months, Rimuru had killed the dragon/wyvern that threatened a human merchant and after meeting him for dinner, he learned the location of the Labyrinth dungeon that holds the well of spirits, the saving grace for the otherworldly children. Going through the dungeon and meeting the previous Fairy Queen, Ramiris, Rimuru and co are eventually led to the swirling platform where each child gets their greater spirit to possess them and thus grant control over their magical energy.
With a joyful ending, the kids and Rimuru returned to the academy where the slime continued teaching and it's only a few months later the kids have a final exam and pass that test before Rimuru gives his goodbyes and begins his journey home.
At the same time, Axel opens his eyes and Peka who is next to him, shivers as the images placed into her mind through her skill make her aware of what will happen next.
"Um…my lord…will you be betraying Rimuru-sama?" Peko hesitantly asks as she witnesses the short version of a slaughter in her mind. Axel looks at the poor hobgoblin girl as he smirks before saying,
"Not at all, but unless Rimuru receives a faster power boost, he will not be ready for the tragedy to come. The few pieces I gave him would eventually let him grow strong enough but by then, it would be too late and most of the citizens of this city would have perished from the lack of action. If you can think of a way to properly encourage him to become a demon lord in the next few days then I will settle for only unleashing my annoyance upon a few pieces of dirt as they are even lesser than ants."
He delivers onto Peka, her first real task as she seems to sense the immensity of strength she would gain from the direct request. She puts on a brave face as she goes to her little stool and begins to think as she has to properly think of the logic she could use to avert disaster. She even takes out a piece of paper on a clipboard and begins to write down her ideas but she scratches out a few as they seem unfeasible. In the meantime, Axel leaves his little home office and he soon spots his target.
(A few minutes earlier)
"Hmmmraa, ahh, this trip was so boring, is this place actually worth anything? Everyone seems so weak." One human by the name of Kyoya Tachibana says. His appearance is quite bland with the exception of his beady eyes that signify some form of slyness. He holds the unique skill Severer.
"That just means that they will be helpless to the slaughter we will inflict on them." Another japanese man by the name of Shogo Taguchi speaks as he cracks his knuckles, as if to get the show on the road already. Similar to the other person, his has unremarkable medieval clothing that if anything, makes him look like a level one hobo. He has a slightly wild hairstyle, an indicator of his unique skill, Berserker.
"Now now, you two, we have a job to do and let's do it right. I'll lead the way, so be sure to back me up when the time is right." The third human by the name of kirara Mizutani says with confidence as she calms the two 'hotheaded' boys down. She takes her time to take in the environment and select the proper target for her unique skill Bewilder.
The trio begin a simple walk through the city and soon enough the girl, Kirara intentionally bumps into a dull looking hobgoblin by the name of Gob'zo. She immediately yelps which attracts the surrounding attention as she begins to use her skill to influence the people into believing her that the hobgoblin attempted to defile her in public. Even throwing herself at the goblin for a second measure before falling down on her knees, further exaggerating the story.
Sensing the chance, the two men accompanying her begin to call out Gob'zo as a bad monster until Gobta arrives and begins to side with his friend, even going out to explain that there is nothing about Kirara that could have interested Gob'zo in the first place as she is flat in all regards.
The three humans begin to yell about demanding justice for humans when Shogo gets knocked down after being bumped into by a wandering passerby.
"Hey! What the hell do you think you're doing, huhhh?!!" Shogo gets up and tries to get in the face of the hooded passerby who stops upon sensing the confrontation. A wide grin is seen on Shogos face as he feels he found his target to vent upon.
Yet he receives not response until Shogo yells again and knocks the hood off the person.
"Ehhh!!" x many. The reactions to seeing the person's appearance are quite mixed. The two hobgoblins shiver in fear of seeing Axel Gram right there. The two men get a shiver down their spines as they feel bland compared to Axel's looks while Kirara has a blush on her face as she is quickly smitten. Similar reactions are faced by many of the other passersby as they all quickly focus on the newcomer.
"Grr, are you not going to say anything. I guess even normal people disregard any sense of morality when living in a town of monsters!" Shogo states which only causes Axel to lift his head with a raised eyebrow as well.
"Morality? Very well, ill give you a show" Axel says some simple words before turning around to look at Kirara on the floor. He steps towards her and bends down to give her a hand to rise.
"Are you alright m'lady. That looked like quite the fall you took there"
"Ah, ah, no, it's okay" She hesitantly answers as she takes his hand to get back on her two feet.
"I see, since you are alright, then may I ask a simple question miss?"
"Mizutani, and yes you may sir?"
"Gram. Pleasure to meet you, but my question was….Are you the one who inflicted me and the people here with your mind control?" His words get a resounding shock from the audience while Gobta nods with his arms crossed as if to confirm his words. Axel snaps and everyone snaps out of the mind control, now Kirara is whimpering in place under Axel's constant ferocious gaze. Shogo places his hand on Axel's shoulder whilst saying.
"Huh, what proof do you have that she did that." he receives no answer as Axel doesnt even look at him, Shogo finds his strength failing him before the immovable mountain that is Axel.
SLAP
Kirara goes flying to the ground once more but properly this time around as Axel slaps her for her crime.
"Oi! You don't get to just ignore us as you harass our friend"
"You're not friends, otherworldly heroes of Falmuth. Simply pests that were discarded by your own home world. Sunshine and Rainbows appear after all three of you disappeared from your world. Cancer was cured, world hunger was solved and all it took was you three wastes to be thrown out like trash that you are." Axel's every word seems to sting at the three former japanese citizens, even Kirara's heart hurts more than the slap on her face, though that hurts plenty on it's own as her head was rocked by the slap, giving her a heavy headache.
"What gives you the right to call us that, you bastard!!!" Shogo calls out Axel and he finally turns to face the pitiful man with anger issues.
"Your mother when i paid your world a visit yesterday and fucked her harder than your small dick of a father ever did. You are welcome to call me daddy and ask for forgiveness for being so pathetic to my name but frankly, I'm too embarrassed by your homeless appearance even more than your actual intellect."
Akin to a flashbang, everyone was stunned silent from the barrage of insults that would revolutionize insults for many generations to come. The silence only stops when Gobta is the first to recover and collapses on the ground from laughter which only seems to awaken the others as the audience begins to laugh as well while the three reject heroes are bright faced and ashamed. Shogo and Kyoya take up their swords as they begin to attack Axel.
The audience runs upon seeing the swords being brought out. Shogo activates his berserker to increase his physical power and begin attacking Axel. Kyoya instead activates his severer to split Axel apart, while he was not he butt of the jokes, he could feel Axel's gaze on him the entire time as if his every action could not escape him. Kirara on the other hand is completely useless in combat as she had no other skills and or even combat capabilities.
Axel takes out a toothpick and begins to easily deflect both their onslaught of attacks with such resounding ease that both can only falter for a moment which Axel capitalizes on. Kyoya is confused on how his sword couldn't destroy such a thin weapon but it's only now that he realizes that the pressure of the air itself has grown exceptionally higher.
Axel grabs the back of Shogo's head and slams it into the ground before teleporting behind Kyoya and drop-kicking his head into the ground as well. The ground cracks under the pressure as Kirara only looks on with fear on her face before she passes out from the toothpick stabbing a vein that supplies her head with oxygen. With a reduced but not completely suppressed flow of air, her brain shuts down for a bit as she passes out.
"Ohh, that was so cool Mr. Gram" Gobta praises Axel as he defended Gob'zo from any danger that might have arisen.
"It's not over yet"
"Huh?" he asks confused before his ears perk up to hear the sounds of horses, looking over, he spots the few hundred strong human horsemen approaching. The human soldiers spot the three knocked heroes, it doesnt help them that the one stepping on the heroes head looks completely human but upon spotting the two hobgoblins nearby, they capitalize on their chance.
"You foul monsters, striking down humans so blatantly, you shall be taught the light of Luminous, SAVE THE HUMANS"
"Hey Gobta, are the humans of this world really all just this stupid?"
