Chapter 5 - Chapter five

Wedding flashback

I put the finishing touches on my tuxedo, sticking the beautiful purple lavender flower in my pocket that Eleanor gave me. The sweet scent danced around my nose. I was so ready to make Eleanor my wife; I had loved her since middle school. The moment she raised her hand to answer the question correctly, I once got it wrong. She is so smart, so caring, and so special.

My family all gathered to watch me give myself to the girl everyone adored. I was most concerned about making my dad proud, who was very hard on me, but if he wasn't, I probably wouldn't have been successful

"You look so handsome," I heard my mother's voice, which brought me such happiness.

"Thanks, Mama." I bring my lips to her cheek and feel the familiar wrinkled skin.

Soon, I hear the start of the music. The piano keys chimed, and the violin sounded so beautiful. I exit the dressing room. We were getting married in a beautiful Church, our childhood Church. God was such an important part of both of our lives, and that made me happy that we both have such a relationship with God. I hope that never changes.

I turned the corner and I could automatically see the guests. Everyone looks so happy and so excited to see the bride. This wedding was talked about all over the community, and all the important members are here: the mayor and all the wealthy families.

I smile at everyone as I walk to my place at the head of the church. My eyes and heart cloud not wait to see my beautiful bride.

I stand there frozen like a statue, but shaking in my boots. I know that I am making the right choice. I am just anxious to see her. This day will give my whole life meaning and purpose until the day I die. Finally, I see her. She is wearing a Snow White dress. White was traditional, though some girls were just starting to try to get away with cream white. Her dress had the perfect amount of lace, which looked darling with the pearl necklace. Trust me, my wallet knew it was real pearls.

Then my favorite part of the whole entire wedding dress was the Veil, which was a purple lace that was completely different from any girl in our time. Eleanor wanted our wedding to be talked about for centuries, and this purple veil was the talk of the wedding.

She walked closer to me, and even though there was lavender all around us, I could still smell the lavender in her bouquet.

After what seemed like an eternity, it was time for me to say my wedding vows.

My dearest Eleanor,

I am not sure why you chose me

But for some reason, you did

And you changed me for the better

I stop and see the smile spreading across her rosy cheeks.

Some people look for a lifetime for what we have

And we have it now

Forever and always, I love you.
