Speed
'Speed that's it!' Jordan thought and in his excitement a small smile formed at the corner of his lips. 'I have to find a way to slow it down further!'
The Bone Ape was still approaching rapidly. In a space of three breaths it was upon him. The spiked bone club swept towards him from the left aiming to take his head off. Although Jordan said that the Bone Ape was slower than Huey, it was still much faster than him.
Still he as long as he could see the Bone Ape's movements then that meant he could predict where it would attack him next. It was a dangerous tactic really, one that would result in him having no choice but to evade the Bone Ape's attacks at the last second. Any miscalculation would result into heavy injury or in the worst case… death.
'Its do or die I guess'
The Bone Ape made a sweep for his head once more. Jordan had to focus his hundred percent or else he would pay a price he could not afford. He ducked as fast as he could and still it was at the last minute, one of the spikes graze his cheek but he managed to evade nonetheless. A shallow cut appeared on his cheek and blood steadily trailed down his jaw to the tip of his chin before falling to the ground.
The focus in his eyes intensified. He couldn't afford to be distracted but be for that he had to make his intentions known after all if all his attention was locked onto the Bone Ape then how was he supposed to make coordinate with the rest of his friends.
Jordan closed in on the Bone Ape and launched a barrage of fists into the beast's chest.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
The sounds of impacts rang out. They were heavy as they were strong. And yet the Bone Ape didn't so much as flinch, after all its chest was covered in a layer of bone armor.
Jordan knew that, however his fists weren't meant to defeat the Bone Ape after all his role was to create an opening for Candice to attack. That was his job, that was his current purpose.
The Bone Ape made a low rumbling sound.
"Grr grr grr"
It was almost as if it was laughing at his efforts.
Jordan paid it no mind. He backed up just as the Bone Ape swung the club at him. The beast's weapon crashed into his chest but glanced off by the [Bronze Armor]. The force of the blow knocked him off his feet and sent him backwards. The thin stream of blood coming from his mouth, left a trail of red in the air. The [Bronze Armor] may have protected him from the external effects of the blow, internal effects however…not so much. Jordan felt his lungs tremble within his rib cage and his sternum felt like it would snap at any moment.
'Damn that hurts' Jordan gritted his teeth as his feet touched the ground. He had some trouble keeping himself on his feet so much so that it took him more than 10 seconds to do so.
Precious seconds for that matter.
By the time Jordan regained his senses, it was too late to dodge the heavy bone club that descended from above. Jordan could feel the air getting heavier, it was as though an invisible weight had been dropped on his shoulders.
He couldn't dodge and Jordan didn't have the strength to block this attack safely. He could only do his best.
Blue sparks of lightning snaked around his [Thunder Gauntlets] as Jordan tensed every bone and muscle in his body. His feet shifted in a wide solid stance. Veins became visible along the surface of his skin especially his neck and temples.
'The impact shocks absorbed by the gauntlets won't be enough. I need something more!' Jordan shouted internally and without hesitation his mana dipped and he directed it towards the [Earthen Ring] hidden on his right index finger beneath his gauntlets so it gave off a subtle glow.
A second later a sharp spike of earth shot of from the ground behind him. It towered over his head to meet the descending bone club fist. The club smashed through the tip of the earth spike as though it were made of sand and continued its descent.
Jordan found himself yelling out as his mana dipped once more, this time sparks of yellow circulated around his fists, they intermingled with the blue sparks. Jordan punched out his all his strength. By now the earth spike that Jordan had erected to intercept the bone club was half destroyed, the bone club inching towards his head like a cannon ball.
Bolts of lightning surged forth from both his fists and shot up.
The bolts of yellow and blue and the bone club collided and less than a split second later, his gauntlet covered fists smashed against it.
Boom.
The weight of the blow was so strong and so immense it felt as though a mountain had been dropped on his shoulders. The ground beneath his feet sunk, the force almost brought him to his knees and it took all his will power just to remain standing but it wasn't enough to stop his knees from trembling.
Jordan felt the muscles in his arms burn as he held the bone club in place above his head. The veins in his arms bulged and threatened to pop. Jordan blocked the heavy blow but the aftershocks of the blow travelled throughout the rest of his body.
His internal organs trembled and shook. If some one had an x-ray machine and examine his insides right now they would have found out that some of his organs such as liver, small intestines and even his pancreas were riddled with tears.
Pain flared throughout his entire being and he felt a flood of iron and the taste of copper on his tongue. He couldn't stop himself before a heavy cough escaped his lips accompanied by a mouthful of blood that covered his entire chin.
"Argh!" Jordan groaned and with what felt like effort one would put into his tons of weight. He opened his mouth and his voice came out loud and strained. "Aim for its legs! You have to slow it down!"
"Grr?" the Bone Ape said confused
There was a moment of silence on the battlefield and then.
The air behind the Bone Ape suddenly twisted and took the shape of a thin blade that curved through the air. It shot forward at a speed that was faster than the Bone Ape could realize that something was wrong and by the time it did.
Swish.
The thin wind blade struck into the back of the Bone Ape's knee and slicing through the vessels and ligaments that held its knee cap in place.
ROAR!
In pain the Bone Ape fell on one knee. A deep gush appearing on the back of its knee. Blood was leaked from the wound and fell to the ground.
