Not to say I wasn't curious about their progress but to them two years has passed while for me it's barely been a day, I can wait. With that decided the first order of business I chose to address was my spear. Having placed the bag back at it's rightful place on my side I opened it and reached in and drew out the weapons length. The plain wooden pommel came first followed by the white wooden handle crisscrossed with faintly glowing red energy channels and finally the bladed head of the spear that was black with throbbing hot energy grooves.-
The air distorted from the heat given off by the spear but in my hand it's wooden handle was cool to the touch, almost happy feeling in fact like an old friend welcoming me back. I smiled as I ran my energy through the weapon causing it's head to erupt in violent flames that raised the ambient temperature by dozens of degrees instantly. In the yellow flames there was the barest hint of silver trying but failing to fully manifest. It was easy for me to understand that this was the semi divine nature of the spear trying to come forth in response to my almost divine energy.-
I cut the flow of energy to the weapon causing the flames to go out before sitting cross-legged on the ground with the handle resting across my lap as I dug into my bag for my rune inscription supplies. I had to add a tiny bit of water to the ink as it had dried out slightly over the last couple of years but after that I was good to go. This was not the first time I had placed runes on an object to enhance it somehow but it was easily the most important time I had done so.-
The runic structure chosen was highly important here as this was my weapon and soon my divine tool and that meant caution was well needed. I started at the base of the handle and carefully wrote out the enhancement of the wood with the principles of balance, energy, absorption and control. Once the script wound around the handle glowing ominously I moved on to the spear head that was also the core of the weapons power. Here I wrote out the principles of destruction, creation, heat, metal and control.-
The moment I completed the final brushstroke the entire spear shuddered and hummed as the Unknown runes moved as though alive upon the surface of it. At first the two scripts on the head and handle clashed but soon there was a balance reached and the runes seemed to sink below the surface of the material was though vanishing. I knew better however as my senses told me the spear had an unstable energy fluctuation between normal aura and the divine energy of the red chain. Clearly the weapon was at the precipice of becoming a true divine artifact and with that in mind I dug out my spare evolution token from my bag.-
[Evolution token use detected... Verifying choice... accepted, beginning evolution]
The token broke apart into many points of light that entered the spear and created a cocoon of energy around it that floated in midair. While that was going on I started going through my bag and tossing everything that had gone bad over the last two years. Foodstuffs, ingredients, berries, potions, the works. While my bag was good at slowing the decay of things put in it there was no stopping the slow relentless march of time.-
Most of my ingredients were preserved just fine as they were dried already but a few choice bits needed a certain level of vitality to be useful and thus had rotted without continual care. My berry collect was by far hit the worse however as the refrigeration unit of my bag only slowed the decay by a good bit and berries didn't have a long lifespan once off the bush to begin with. Thankfully I had plenty of seeds that were salvaged from the rotten remains that I could use to restore these stores.-
By the time I was done tidying up my bag the evolution of my spear completed and I was quite surprised by how it changed. The head of the spear now glittered like the night sky with a swirling pattern of stars that ever changed. The handle had turned a mix of black and white that flowed over it like ink constantly being washed away and renewed. In addition to these more obvious of changes there was the subtle change that came from it's energy signature no longer being of aura but pure divine power. Even more impressively holding the spear truly felt like an extension of myself with each movement coming effortlessly and naturally. -
Frustratingly however I could barely use the power of the spear and even then weakly since despite my proximity to it I was not in fact a god yet. In other words the spear while no doubt powerful was also equally useless to me until I myself ascended. 'I suppose that should be the next thing I do.' I thought with a sigh. I didn't need any instruction as to how to align my divinity with a domain as it was instinctively something I understood. -
Until that being had explained it however I hadn't realized that that was how I took that final step as there was no strong feeling or anything else of the sort. It was almost funny how mundane it felt to approach the divine, like merely taking a casual stroll. Aligning my divinity to the domain of Reality was not exactly difficult but not easy either. It felt a bit like those conspiracy theory boards you saw in media back on earth. I had to find the connection that each piece of my abilities and skills held to the reality domain and put a metaphorical "line" connecting them.-
It was more tedious than difficult really as reality was tied to literally everything and absolutely nothing as well. Creating the "lines" that showed how these fragmented concepts were part of the domain was going to take me time, at least a month. Thankfully I didn't have to do it all at once so after getting a few connections worked out and the reality domain starting to take shape in my divinity I stopped to deal with other issues.
