Chapter 325 - Hunting plates(2)

I sent Gaia off at this point as there was no need to keep her near me as she would be better served searching for plates on her own. As for the dude he also left since he didn't want to deal with the awkward situation where I found stuff left and right down here. I didn't even bother to tell him that I was only planning to looking for fifteen specific items and that was it. I wasn't after the gems, type stones or fossils, just the plates. Of course I marked down the location of the entrance to this vast array of tunnels for later.-

Activating my x-ray in only my normal eye I started to slowly walk through the tunnels while scanning the area for the plates. While I was doing this the rest of my pokemon went off to do their own things as well with the exception of Hades and Cratos that were both with me. The tunnels of the underground were large enough for even Gaia to fit in so long as she remained on all fours and was clearly made using both pokemon and tools from the way the stone walls and floors were carved.-

You could see the places that people had dug into the walls as the uneven surface dipped even further than normal in them and some places even bore a faint imprint of whatever was taken out. With my x-ray vision I saw how close some people had gotten to different treasures as well as all sorts of treasures waiting for someone to find. None of these interested me however as I was here with a singular purpose in mind. It didn't take me long to find my first plate either, just seven hours.-

The third being raged, raining down bolts of anger.

'The fall of Giratina.' I thought as I ran my finger over the inscription on the back of the Zap plate after I extracted it from the stone wall. There was something sad about how I was likely the only person aware that Giratina was not originally evil or corrupted who wasn't a legendary. This plates inscription also told me something that I had long since theorized, they weren't immutable. If they were then this plate wouldn't mention Giratina's fall since the plates aught to have been created near the time Arceus created the world.-

The fall came much after that time I assume which meant that at that time the inscription on the plate was changed from what it was originally. This didn't surprise me as if anything were capable of waking Arceus from it's slumber and leaving a lasting impression on it, the fall absolutely counted. Then again perhaps the plates were created much later than the creation of the world and the fall had already happened and the creator of the plates made a mistake in thinking the fall was right at the beginning of the world.-

This entire theory of course implies that it wasn't Arceus who created the plates but even with my many skills and abilities I couldn't understand how that was possible. The plates clearly had ties to the supreme being or they wouldn't be able to effect it at all but I had no idea how they could have been made without it's help. Then again it was also possible that Arceus DID help with the creation of the plates but that begged the question of why it did. I simply couldn't understand it and after giving myself a headache going down this rabbit hole I gave up on trying to.-

The next three weeks were frankly speaking incredibly boring as I did the same thing everyday. I woke up, ate breakfast, went to the underground, searched all day, came back up and ate dinner, went to bed. By the third day all of my pokemon except Hades, Yani and Cratos simply didn't come back to the campsite daily anymore. I saw each of them at different times during this period as they did of course return periodically, just not every day. For all of them it was obvious what they were doing with the exception of Gaia who showed little change from when she wandered off in the underground originally.-

For Rune, Tank and Vulcan however their levels had grown and they had new scabs and injuries from battles they had sought out. Rune had reached one twenty two, Vulcan one thirty five and Tank one forty nine. Unsurprisingly Tank was looking to be the first of my pokemon to break into champion level territory. Power wise he had long since gotten close to that point, most of my pokemon had. But now his level was only a single increase away from being there as well putting him firmly at champion level.-

Interestingly Yani's level had also gone up though clearly at a much slower rate since she doesn't battle. Instead it appeared as though her pursuit into the medical applications of her grass type energies was enough to raise her level as her mastery over it increased. On my side of things there was some progress as well though only a little as I had found what I was certain was the only two plates left in this part of Sinnoh, the Dread plate and the Fist plate.

Two makes matter, and three makes spirit shaping the world.- Dread plate

A rift is born of disorder on the other side of this world.- Fist plate

The inscriptions on these two plates confirmed my theory that the plates were created after Giratina's fall as the distortion world was vaguely referenced. Regardless I was fairly certain that no more plates lied in this part of Sinnoh's underground so it was time to move on. Three weeks spent trying to find a measly three plates might seem like a lot but one has to remember that there are only seventeen in total and with these three I now possessed five.-

In other words I currently possessed a quarter of the total plates in existence with four of them being of a typing my pokemon possessed. Three weeks was absolutely a fair amount of time to spend in this single part of Sinnoh for that. I had to plan my next location in the underground carefully however as some places were more popular and also harder to reach from the wilds.
