"Hmph! There's nothing small about it! If you are going to cause problems like this the least you can do is help with the paperwork afterwards." she said complained. I shrugged 'How bad could it be?' I thought unaware of the horror to come. As I soon learned however it was quite bad. I had to fill out dozens of statements, finders documentations and they even tried to make me sign NDA's about what I found though I refused on that part. The league was surprisingly stubborn about it however and kept pestering me about it now that they had the opportunity.-
They tried to be sneaky and slip in stuff from past incidents I was in as well but I made a point of reading everything I signed so that didn't work at all. Still I did feel a little bad for the ones who had to deal with all this paperwork after I cause an incident now that I had some idea about how much there was. If nothing else Cynthia took an annoying amount of satisfaction watching me deal with some of the paperwork from this most recent mess of mine.-
As it turned out there was a LOT of work needed for the league deal with the headquarters of the now scattered to the winds Galactic team. There was asset tallying, asset distribution, land right revocation and acquisition, Scientific processing, damage assessment, and so much more. Much of it had nothing to do with me at all but somehow I still got dragged into it, like Cynthia's doing. One thing that created a rather tense situation however was the the league people who noticed stuff missing confronting me on it.-
"The data and resources you have taken are now property of the league so I suggest you hand them over without a fuss." one of the pencil pushers demanded and I scoffed. "By my contract with the league anything I plunder while doing what I do belongs solely to me, you are barking up the wrong tree." I said calmly. "The league owns the rights to any and everything found within the property, more so than some lowly mercenary at any rate." the guy said reaching for my bag. "No." I said as I gripped his outstretched arm and began to squeeze.-
The man began to scream as the pressure on his arm reached painful levels and with a simple twist and push I dislocated his arm before releasing him. "Try and take what belongs to me again and I'll not stop at simply a bruise and dislocated shoulder." I said coldly before standing up to leave. I had humored Cynthia more than enough already and refused to stay any longer. Once again however she was waiting at the gate for me when I arrived. "You didn't have to go that far you know? He was just trying to do his job even if he was technically in the wrong." she said with a chiding tone.-
"I would have left him alone if he hadn't tried to grab my bag. If anything he's lucky I showed mercy at all." I said unapologetic. "So that's it? You are just going to leave after a minor inconvenience?" she asked with a serious look. "What more do you want from me? I've done the paperwork that I was willing to do just to humor you but that's the only reason I even stayed at all." I said a little annoyed by the hold up.-
"I'm trying to get you to mellow out. You spend so much time in the wilds that you act like a wild pokemon, any problem you encounter leads to violence before anything else. Sure it is fine now but when does it end? You'll never be part of society like that, not in any real way. Even now all the pull you have comes from how unique and powerful you are and because you helped stop some disasters but at some point that won't be enough anymore, the glory will fade and what then?" she asked seriously. "Why do I need to be a part of society when all I have already is enough?" I answered her question with one of my own.-
I was almost entirely a self sustained entity with all the skills I had alongside my pokemon. The only time I ever actually entered towns or cities was if I was stocking up or more or less passing through, and that was plenty. Why should I change myself to be more like those that stay in towns or cities when I never will be one of them? My final goal is eternity, godhood. And my path to it isn't found in these civilized places but out in the wilds and scattered across the world.-
"Aren't you lonely? Don't you think you might one day want a family of your own? Even you must understand how hard that will be to achieve as you are now." she said softly. "Lonely? Family? I am never alone so long as I have my pokemon. I don't need a family if it means I have to give up my goal. I won't deny that I might desire such a thing but I will not give up my path to have it." I said firmly.-
What was that phrase that Thanos said that everyone seemed to quote for a long time? Ah yes, "the toughest choices require the strongest of wills". I knew exactly what I was giving up on for my goal and had resolved myself for that sacrifice. Nothing was going to stop me from giving my all to achieve it even if it led to my death in the end. I don't fear death, not really. What I fear is being forgotten, being left behind by the passage of time. My goal was a selfish one and would result in me being almost entirely alone in the end but I had long since accepted that.-
Perhaps if Rayquaza had not told me what he did I might have been swayed by Cynthia here but her whole argument fell flat since I had that information. After all I could absolutely create a legend that would survive until the end of this civilization without sacrificing what I am but that is not forever after all. To be honest if the complete details of my exact involvement in the major events recently got out it would create one such legend.
