Chapter 129 - Chapter 129: Identity Unrelated to Meanness

"Mmm, mmm, mmm! This luxurious guest room is truly something! It's money well spent!" Xiao Yixian expressed her satisfaction while clearing the delicious dishes on the table in front of her. She puffed her cheeks and urged Xiao Yan, "Xiao Yan, don't just stand there. Start eating!"

"Ah... Mmm."

Xiao Yan nodded absentmindedly, picked up his bowl, and began eating quickly, occasionally stealing glances at Xiao Yixian, who was thoroughly enjoying her meal.

Initially, Xiao Yan had been concerned about Xiao Yixian's mood during this period. However, now it seemed that he had worried too much. Xiao Yixian's ability to adjust her mindset far exceeded Xiao Yan's expectations.

This is good.

Xiao Yan silently chuckled in his heart.

She wasn't dwelling on past sorrows and was happily enjoying her life. This was likely what Boss Yao, the boss, expected from Xiao Yixian.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Suddenly, there were several loud knocks on the room door, disrupting Xiao Yan's thoughts. Xiao Yixian also looked puzzled and forcefully swallowed the food in her mouth, her brows furrowing slightly.

"What's going on?"

"I'll go check."

Xiao Yan put down his bowl and got up to reach the door. When he opened it, he saw a man with a flushed face, a vacant expression, and clearly drunk. Xiao Yan wrinkled his brow in disgust because this man's demeanor reminded him of someone he had encountered before.

It was none other than Liao Xi, the alchemist whose limbs he had severed in the past.

From his demeanor alone, Xiao Yan could tell that this man and the Liao Xi from back then were cut from the same cloth.

However, even though he made this assessment in his heart, Xiao Yan wanted to avoid judging people solely by their appearances and tried to maintain a polite tone as he inquired, "Sir, may I help you with something?"

The man looked at Xiao Yan, let out a belch, and with a confused look in his drunken eyes, he reached out and grabbed Xiao Yan's collar, scolding him, "You... What are you? Why are you in my room?!"

Being grabbed by the collar, Xiao Yan immediately understood what was happening. This man had drunk too much and had entered the wrong room.

"Sir, you've had too much to drink," Xiao Yan said, reaching out to remove the man's hand from his collar. "This is not your room."

"Huh? Are you kidding me? Do you think I won't recognize my own room? Do you take me for a fool?!"

Xiao Yan watched the arrogant drunkard in front of him, feeling somewhat helpless.

Well, what can I say?

Xiao Yan couldn't help but notice that as he traveled, he encountered people like this more often. His recent experiences also made him realize one thing: the nature of such people was fundamentally rotten, with no possibility of redemption.

The commotion caused by the drunkard's yelling drew the attention of the occupants of the neighboring room. Two men who appeared to be of similar age to the drunkard, along with an older man, emerged from the room.

The old man furrowed his brows slightly as he looked at the drunkard's back and asked in a raspy voice that sounded quite uncomfortable, "What's all this noise about?"

"Huh? Master?" Upon hearing the old man's voice, the drunkard turned around in confusion. "Why are you in that room?"

"Haven't I told you, as an alchemist, you should drink less? Can't you even remember your own room?" The old man snorted displeasingly and instructed the other two, "Go, bring back your senior brother. Don't embarrass us here."

"Yes, Master."

The two men immediately responded and approached the drunkard, one on each side, dragging him back into their room. The old man gave Xiao Yan a cold look, then closed the door without apologizing for his disciple's behavior.

Xiao Yan felt a slight dissatisfaction but didn't dwell on it. After closing the room door, he returned to the sofa, and Xiao Yixian looked at him with a questioning expression.

"That guy just now, was he an alchemist?"

"It seems so," Xiao Yan replied.

Xiao Yan responded calmly, while Xiao Yixian raised an eyebrow, picked up her glass from the table, and swirled the juice inside it thoughtfully. She spoke slowly.

"I've always heard Boss Yao talk about how prestigious and rare the identity of an alchemist is. Now it seems that there are quite a few scoundrels in this profession. They don't even compare to the mercenaries in Qingshan Town in terms of character."

"It's unrelated to the profession; every profession has people like this," Xiao Yan replied quietly. Dishonorable people remain dishonorable, regardless of their occupation.

"Alright, don't mind them. Paying too much attention to such people will only ruin your mood. Let's continue eating."

Xiao Yan waved his hand and picked up his bowl to continue eating.

After a few dozen minutes, when Xiao Yan and Xiao Yixian had almost finished clearing the food from the table, there was another argument outside the door.

From the sound of it, it seemed to be the same guy, Harry.

Xiao Yan and Xiao Yixian exchanged a glance, both expressing a sense of resignation. It seemed they wouldn't have peace for a while.

Initially, Xiao Yan and Xiao Yixian had no intention of getting involved, but as time passed, the commotion outside grew louder. Suddenly, there was a loud crash, and the entire building trembled.

Are they fighting?!

Xiao Yan and Xiao Yixian were both startled, quickly got up, and left the room. Outside, they saw the drunkard glaring angrily at another person. The other person was dressed extravagantly, with long black hair flowing loosely around his waist. He held a folding fan and had a distinctly noble appearance.

Despite his masculine attire, the man's looks were stunningly beautiful, not inferior to even Yao Chen.

As Xiao Yan marveled at the man's appearance, he suddenly felt a sinking feeling in his heart when he saw the man's face.

"You, you scoundrel! Say that again if you dare!!!"

The drunkard pointed at the nobleman and shouted angrily. However, the nobleman showed no fear despite the drunkard's ferocious expression. He casually waved the folding fan in his hand and spoke with an enchanting and elegant voice.

"Breaking into our room aside, it seems you even want to forcibly take our belongings. Are alchemists of your caliber always of such low character?"

"I took your things to give you face! Don't act ungrateful!!"

"Ungrateful? I'm sorry, but I can't understand your words," the nobleman replied with half of his face concealed by the folding fan. He spoke in a low, mesmerizing voice, "In my eyes, the ungrateful one is you, sir."

"You!!!"

The drunkard became infuriated and was about to make another move when the door opposite Xiao Yan's room opened again. The elderly man from before emerged, accompanied by two disciples.

This time, there was a hint of anger on his face.

"You, you've had too much to drink; just go to sleep! I've only just managed to rest, and you're causing trouble again!!!"

"Master!" The drunkard saw his master and became excited, pointing to the nobleman and reporting, "Master! This guy has an Ice Spirit Cold Fountain in his room!!!"
