Chapter 125 - Chapter 125: Venting Injustice

In the Magic Beast Mountain Range, Xiao Yixian carried Yao Sheng's body step by step to the green mountains.

There were several moments when Xiao Yixian's delicate body couldn't bear it, and every time Xiao Yan wanted to help, she sternly stopped him, gritting her teeth and carrying Yao Sheng up the mountainside.

Xiao Yan, although eager to assist, ultimately remained silent, following quietly behind Xiao Yixian to prevent her from being attacked by magical beasts on the way.

Finally, after nearly an hour of arduous climbing, Xiao Yixian, with her trembling body, carefully set Yao Sheng down on the mountaintop.

"Yao Sheng said that after he dies, he wants to be buried in a place with a wide view. That way, even in death, he can enjoy the scenery, and he doesn't want to be closed up in a coffin," Xiao Yixian looked at Yao Sheng's peaceful sleeping face and a bitter smile appeared on her lips. "Even though he's facing death, he's not afraid at all..."

Saying this, Xiao Yixian just stood up, and an iron shovel was handed over from the side. She turned around, only to see Xiao Yan nodding in agreement.

Since Xiao Yixian wanted to do it this way, then let her do it until the end. This was the last thing she could do for Yao Sheng.

"Thank you," Xiao Yixian nodded with a smile, but with her swollen eyes and tear-stained face, she looked so pitiful and heart-wrenching.

After taking the iron shovel, Xiao Yixian let out a deep breath and, despite her exhausted body, she firmly gripped the tool and began to dig.

Xiao Yan stood silently behind her, watching for a long time, and then quietly left.

Time passed, second by second.

It took nearly half an hour for Xiao Yixian to finally finish digging the grave. She threw the shovel aside and, with great care, gently placed Yao Sheng's body into the grave.

Squatting in the pit, Xiao Yixian sat by Yao Sheng's side, reaching out to touch his already cold, broad hand.

Tears once again welled up in her eyes.

It was the warmth of this hand that had saved me from despair...

Xiao Yixian held Yao Sheng's hand and gently placed it on his face. All she felt was the icy coldness that pierced her heart.

Looking at Yao Sheng's face, Xiao Yixian gently let go of his hand and forced a strong smile.

"Goodbye, Yao Sheng..."

Turning around, she climbed out of the grave. The continuous strenuous activity had clearly drained her energy. Her arms suddenly went weak, and she stumbled forward, falling into the pit.

At that moment, a hand reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her gently back up.

When Xiao Yixian emerged from the grave, she looked at Xiao Yan, nodded slightly, and then walked to the side to pick up the iron shovel to bury Yao Sheng. Xiao Yan stood quietly behind her.

Filling the grave seemed much easier than digging it.

After about ten minutes, Xiao Yixian had deeply buried Yao Sheng's body. Her eyes were filled with deep sorrow.

After a long time, she turned around and whispered, "We should make a tombstone..."

Thunk.

The sound of something heavy sinking deep into the earth suddenly echoed. Xiao Yixian froze for a moment, turned around, and saw Xiao Yan standing beside the grave, one hand resting lightly on the tombstone that had appeared at the head of the grave.

On the tombstone were engraved these words:

[Yao Sheng's Grave]—Father of Xiao Yixian.

Clearly, as soon as Xiao Yan left earlier, he had prepared this.

Xiao Yixian stared blankly at the tombstone, and Xiao Yan softly spoke.

"I also owe Yao Sheng a great debt of gratitude and respect him as a person," Xiao Yan looked at Xiao Yixian and said softly, "At least, let me do one thing to bid him farewell."

"Thank you," Xiao Yixian smiled and thanked Xiao Yan, her red and tear-stained face making her look so pitiable and heart-wrenching. Then, she and Xiao Yan paid their respects to Yao Sheng's grave.

After paying their respects, Xiao Yixian looked at Xiao Yan and said earnestly, "Xiao Yan, although Yao Sheng entrusted you with taking care of me, I... won't leave with you."

"Regardless of how much I respect Yao Sheng, I don't want to live my life according to his arrangements."

"I want to walk my own path."

With her hands behind her back, Xiao Yixian faced Xiao Yan, her eyes filled with a plea.

"Can... you let me go?"

Xiao Yixian understood that if Xiao Yan was determined to fulfill Yao Sheng's final request, she would have no way to resist. Whether she could leave or not depended on whether Xiao Yan wanted to keep her.

Xiao Yan stared at Xiao Yixian for a moment, then let out a sigh.

"Although Yao Sheng entrusted me to take care of you, you are an independent person, and I will respect your wishes," Xiao Yan said slowly. "If this is your decision, then go ahead."

Xiao Yan extended his hand to Xiao Yixian and said earnestly.

"Xiao Yixian, remember, no matter how you change in the future, I will always be your friend, and that will never change."

Xiao Yixian quietly looked at Xiao Yan's outstretched hand. After a while, she raised her hand, ready to shake his hand, but just as she was about to touch Xiao Yan's hand, she suddenly pulled her hand back and forced a smile as she nodded to him.

"Yes, thank you, Xiao Yan."

...

Watching Xiao Yixian's forced smile and the sudden withdrawal of her hand, Xiao Yan sighed deeply and withdrew his hand.

"Well, Xiao Yixian, I should go now. Should I accompany you back to Qingshan Town?"

"No, I'll have Xiao Lan take me back later. I want to stay with Yao Sheng for a while. You can go ahead."

Xiao Yixian waved her hand with a smile, and Xiao Yan didn't linger any longer, leaving behind the words "We'll meet again if fate allows" before turning to leave.

As Xiao Yan's figure gradually receded and disappeared, the smile on Xiao Yixian's face faded instantly, replaced by a deep sense of sorrow. She turned her head to look at Yao Sheng's grave.

It was because of her constitution that she had caused the deaths of so many people, including her biological mother and her adoptive father.

Clearly, they were all so kind, but because of her, they had left this world prematurely.

This was the key reason why Xiao Yixian refused to leave with Xiao Yan.

Now, other than Xiao Yan and Xiao Lan, she had nothing left.

If one day in the future, even Xiao Yan were to be harmed by her, Xiao Yixian would truly go mad.

She was a disaster, a star of misfortune that harmed those around her.

As Xiao Yixian reached the edge of the cliff in the mountains, she let out a deep breath.

Since she had bid farewell to Yao Sheng and done everything she needed to do, she could now leave this world.

Before she destroyed everyone around her.

Xiao Yixian closed her eyes, leaned forward, and fell towards the bottomless Magic Beast Mountain Range.

However, just as Xiao Yixian was about to fall off the cliff, she suddenly felt her body turning, and she was lifted horizontally by a pair of strong arms.

Confused, Xiao Yixian opened her eyes and saw Xiao Yan holding her gently, with the Purple Cloud Wings flapping behind him.

"Why... did you come back?" Xiao Yixian stared at Xiao Yan in astonishment and asked in a daze.

Xiao Yan looked at Xiao Yixian and, after a long while, said softly, "If you want to cry, then cry it out. Tell me about your grievances. I am your friend."

Suddenly, upon hearing Xiao Yan's words, Xiao Yixian was stunned. It was as if some switch had been flipped within her, and tears overflowed from her eyes. She tightly hugged Xiao Yan's neck and burst into tears.

"I didn't want to! I really didn't want to!"

"I didn't want to harm everyone! I didn't want to harm my mother! I didn't want to harm Boss Yao!!"

"But why? Why were they all killed because of me?"

"What did I do wrong? Why do I have to bear this pain alone?"

"Why?"

Xiao Yixian cried out and poured out her grievances to Xiao Yan. Her shoulders trembled uncontrollably.

Xiao Yan remained silent, just gently patting Xiao Yixian's back.

Cry it out, let it out.

Some things were better released than kept inside...
