"Lingyun," Old Master Xia said, his voice low and dangerously calm, "I cannot fathom why you thought it appropriate to bring your personal assistant to a family dinner. This is an insult—not only to me but to your wife."
Xia Lihua remained silent, her expression composed but her eyes faintly narrowed. She could sense the storm brewing in her grandfather and while she might usually intervene to maintain peace, this time, she saw no point.
