In fifteen minutes, the two women arrived at the woods. They tied the horses at the mouth of the forest, then walked in.
"That's their cave." Lantian pointed.
Xiaolan watched the hill which was about twenty meters from the ground, mixed with stone and bushes. On the top, it had a large open crack.
"Miss, we don't know where the guano is. How can we collect it?" she said.
"Teacher told me that the bats hang themselves higher in order to protect themselves from predators. They will drop their urine and guano down from where they are hanging. What we have to do first is to get into their cave."
"I heard they suck blood."
"It will be fine if we chase them away. I remember teacher said the bats love the darkness, that's why they like to live in a cave. I ever saw them flying; they were a large group; I bet this cave should be very dark. I have to make the sunlight reach inside the cave, at least a few meters from the adit to make them fly further into the cave."
"How?"
"I don't know yet. I have to check it. Where is the stuff?"
Xialolan took the things out of the pack that she got from the old worker in the farm. There were two pairs of gloves, four masks, and one medium size sack. In the sack, there was a small shovel.
"What are these for?"
"Even though the guano is a good fertilizer, it can bring harm to us, so we cannot touch it with bare hands," Lantian said while she extended to take a pair of gloves to wear it and Xiaolan wore it too.
"Even its smell, it is so strong that normal people cannot endure it," Lantian continued. "Some people might get sick when they smell it. So we have to wear masks."
"But we are two and he gave us four masks," Xiaolan stated and raised the masks to show.
"The workers in the farm are used to its smell so they can wear one mask, but we are new, so he gave us double," Lantian told.
"Miss, I feel this work is not safe. We should call others to help us."
"No need. I can do it."
After saying it, Lantian took two masks from Xiaolan but she didn't wear them yet, she just tied them around her neck. After that, she stated, "You wait here, I will go there."
"Why? I want to go with you," Xiaolan said.
"You don't know martial arts, it's hard to go there."
"But it's dangerous."
"That's why I keep you waiting here. In case there is something wrong, you can take me home."
"But…"
"Stop but. Give me the sack."
With worry on face, Xiaolan handed the bag to her mistress.
Before going up, Lantian inspected the way carefully, then she jumped to step on a flat point about ten meters from the ground on the right, and like a flash, she moved to another flat post on the left which was five meters from the first place she took before she flew to stand on the top in front of the cave's adit.
Lantian viewed the roof of the cavern and saw a thin rock panel which was useful for her. With power, she leaped and kicked, making that panel be hurled quickly and the roof got a free gap giving the opportunity to the sun to shine some of her light into the inky hole. Next, she walked near the mouth of the cave. The smell of the bat's waste was so strong that she could not tolerate it and had to drag the masks to cover over her nose or she would not be able to go inside. In the cave, there were thousands of bats. Thanks to the sunlight, they flew high and far away, allowing Lantian to enter safely. On the ground, Lantian saw there were a lot of guano. She went towards the site and collected them to fill the sack. After topping up, she quickly left the pothole.
Seeing the female master back, Xiaolan was joyful.
"Miss, are you alright?" She said with masks over her half face.
"I'm fine. Tie it," Lantian stated and handed the sack to her maid to bound it. Then they rapidly withdrew their bodies towards the horses and returned to the farm.
When Xiaolan handed the old worker the guano's bag, Lantian asked, "When can we use guano?"
"In general, we have to dry it. At least, two weeks," the man replied.
"Two weeks are too long. I need it hurriedly. So try to make it dry in one week. Just a small bag is enough."
"I will try my best."
Lantian looked at the sky. "Let's go home," she said.
Hearing this call, Xiaolan smiled her lips widely. Since her young lady agreed to go home, surely she would escape from the punishment.
Not only the maid, but also the mother; she was happy when she saw her daughter arrive at her room before the sun set.
