Chapter 1 - Adjusting to Yiga Life

Somewhere in the secret Yiga clan base located within Gerudo Valley there was a young man swinging a sickle like weapon against a training dummy. The rest of the soldiers have long since gone to sleep but this lone man continued to train in the dead of night. Taking a break from this boring routine he sat down and pondered about this strange situation he found himself in.

He sighed "of all people how could this happen to me..." You see, this Yiga member was not a ordinary person of this world but was brought here by unknown means two days ago, this entire world had just been fiction to him before then in his two favorite games Breath of the Wild and Tears of the kingdom.

But now he is here, in the kingdom of Hyrule with nothing but a new name: Volk and he has been spending the past two days coming to terms with that. 'its not all bad' Volk thought 'At least I'm still mostly human, I could have been transported in the body of a Rito or Zora' he shuddered at the thought of becoming a fish-man hybrid as he played with his new pointed ears.

The reason he is here training while most others are asleep was quite simple, he was terrified, terrified of this world and the new dangers it brought. Hyrule kingdom is in a apocalypse right now with monsters roaming all over the world attacking anyone on sight. Even weakest red bokoblin could put up a fight against him at his current state and that wasn't all he had to worry about, he was put into the body of a Yiga member who joined just months earlier, he had to prove himself to survive in this strange organization and hopefully be let out on intel or assassination missions so that he can leave this hideout and use his game knowledge to gain strength.

So he continued to train until he was too tired to swing even a stick around, slowly walking himself to the barracks to get some sleep.

For the first week of his new life, Volk acted very similarly to the original, getting used to the new Yiga routine. He would wake up, eat some mighty bananas for breakfast (delicious by the way), guard various places throughout the day, eat some more bananas for lunch and dinner and spend all the free time he had training in the various training rooms. Spending time in this way allowed Volk to get a good grasp on the ins and outs of the Yiga Clan as a whole. The way the clan worked was basically like a normal town if you ignore the forced jobs and Master Kohga propaganda. He would get paid for guarding in rupees and could spend those on food or in the many equipment shops set up throughout the base, if he proved himself more he could get higher paying jobs but right now he was stuck with guarding, the lowest paying job in the entire Yiga Clan.

In this week Volk also discovered that Link had not yet awaked from his slumber yet, meaning he was somewhere before the beginning of Breath of the Wild timeline wise, 'All the better for me, I'm pretty sure he would kill me on sight and I have zero confidence in taking on the hero of Hyrule in a fight' thought Volk

'Today is the day I break the norm and start making progress forward, I cant sit here waiting for a golden finger forever and I need to get out of this cramped base or I'll go insane like those many Kohga worshippers' Volk had a simple but effective plan on getting noticed and improving his standing: duels. To the Yiga, combat and assassination was everything, that's why Volk had been practicing nonstop since arriving here, if you were stronger you were more respected and you had an easier time within the clan. The Yiga held many duels and even had a whole arena for betting on official Clan fights, he has only been here over a week but he's seen a total of 10 duals in the arena, all between Footsoldiers trying to up their standing within the clan. For Volk this was the simplest way to get more respect and gain real combat experience for when he leaves the safety of the hideout.

So Volk approached the member in charge of the scheduling of fights and said "I, Footsoldier Volk, would like to request to participate in the next available duel"
