Fearing she would think he was some heartless coward, he rushed to explain.
"I did try!" he said desperately. "When I found out what they were doing, I tried to destroy them! But the consequences… the consequences were too much! They threatened my wife, my children! I almost lost everything! I couldn't gamble their lives away! I couldn't!"
He looked at Su Jiyai with fear in his eyes now, as if afraid she would lash out.
Su Jiyai stared at him for a long, cold moment.Then she pressed her lips into a thin line and said quietly,
"Hand over all the information you have about them. Their names, locations, everything. I'll deal with that tumor for you."
Leader Pei stared at her, stunned.
"You...you will?" he stammered, voice shaky. "Why would you help me so much? Boss Su, d-do you have other thoughts about me?"
