Chapter 5 - AKAME GA KILL (2) - Good Job

By the time Sol can activate the system again, it was already evening.

At present, the young man was sitting down to digest food, having just finished eating. The food he ate was the meat of Danger Beasts that the Partas Clan had hunted. He didn't know what the beast looked like, but he could tell that the meat he ate was similar to that of beef. Although to be frank, the taste was very bland.

After Sol finished eating, He excused himself back to the tent first. The tent he was in now had once belonged to a hunter. Esdeath said his name was 'Leon' and he died a month ago from being eaten by a beast. Therefore, no one is currently using it. No one even came to collect Leon's belongings.

This tent was much smaller than the chieftain's. Even after he cleared all Leon's belongings to create as much space as possible. With only ten steps, he had already walked every inch of this tent. At least there was still enough space to sleep, which is better than sleeping on the cold, shivering snow outside.

Never mind that, though. Now, Sol focused all his attention on the 'inventory' he had just found after randomly clicking on the message box several minutes earlier. Partly because he couldn't find any rewards he had previously obtained, which he has now found.

Sol looked at the items inside the inventory before he noticed something. He then clicked on that specific item and read its description.

< Starter Pack (1/1)

A gift for the World Drifter who relies on the system for the first time. Inside the box are the following items; 5 Inventory Cards, 10,000 g., and 5 Servant Item Randomizers which will be activated upon opening this pack. (Guaranteed 1 Full Set Servant and 1 SR Item.) >

'So this is just gacha, right? 'Fate' really always comes with a 'salt', even if you come to another world, you still get salt anyway.'

Sol let out a small sigh as he recalled what he had to lose in his F/GO days. To this day, he still curses the five-star character drop rate in that game. The more he thought about it, the more salty he felt in his mouth even though the food he just ate was completely bland.

However, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. Sol felt delighted as soon as he saw that it guaranteed one Full Set Servant. That meant he would receive the Servant's costume, weapon, and Noble Phantasm all at once. Not to mention the special effects when wearing the Full Set of that Servant. He still remembered how much Heracles' Full Set had saved his life when he met that 'Dark Lord', even now, his throat still hurt when he thought about it.

Sol then tapped three times on the initial pack. A palm-sized white box appeared and floated in mid-air before him. A slight rainbow of light appeared from within the box. Sol looked at it with a rather excited face.

'Please give me Heracles. Please give me Heracles. Please give me Heracles.'

The young man closed his eyes and prayed in his heart. Before bringing his hand to open the lid of the box. Then, a total of five cards appeared floating in the air. There are three bronze cards, one silver card, and one golden card.

"T- This is salt, isn't it?"

As soon as Sol saw the result that there were up to three bronze cards, he felt like his eyes were crying a little bit. However, he soon suppressed his anger, quietly reminding himself that just because it wasn't an SSR didn't mean it was a bad card. After all, this is not a mobile game but a real-life situation. Simply getting any power to use now is already good, so don't just complain before seeing the actual result.

Now, the system allows Sol to open one card at a time, probably for the excitement, but the young man saw that it was a waste of time. Since all of them will be open anyway and not that opening one at a time would change the later cards to be better. He decided to press the 'open all' button. Then, five cards were suddenly opened in front of Soul, with a bright light behind them.

< You have acquired ['Leonidas Full Set' Rarity: UC].

You have acquired [Weapon 'Scarlet Bow (Arash)' Rarity: C].

You have acquired [Servant Skill 'Imperial Privilege A' of 'Caligula' Rarity: UC]

You have acquired [Heroic Costume 'William Tell' Rarity: R].

You have acquired [Servant Skill 'Roar of the War God A+' of 'Penthesilea' Rarity: SR] >

'Leonidas...? Although I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the Full Set of Heracles who saved my ass last time, if I'm not mistaken he has the Noble Phantasm to summon three hundred Spartan warriors like in the legends, right? …It's alright'

The young man thought so and continued to open Leonidas' Full Set Pack. Before obtaining the Heroic Costume, the Weapon 'Spear and Shield of Sparta', the Servant Skill 'Rear Guard's Pride A', the Servant Skill 'Battle Continuation A', and the Noble Phantasm 'Thermopylae Enomotia (Guardian of the Hot Gates)'

When everything in the starter pack is opened. With a hesitant expression on his face, Sol stared at the result of randomizing the item. He doesn't know what word fits best in this situation Between the words 'so so' and 'excellent.' Part of this is because Leonidas is the only character he's confident to say he understands his power.

However, he could read the details of any characters from the items again. Plus, no matter how strong they are, he's sure they will be useful in one way or another. With that in mind, Sol closed the message box in front of him and scrolled to the 5 'inventory cards' he received which now appeared as blank white cards.

Upon reading the item description, Sol concludes that this Inventory Card can store any inanimate objects inside it except for buildings. Other than that, there are no limits on size or weight whatsoever. It was a useful item to some extent. However, it also has a disadvantage, that is, it's a one-time-use item. It can only be used to store an object once and when used again to bring it back, the card will immediately disappear.

'Let's keep it for emergencies or something like that.'

The young man thought to himself, staring at the five cards in his hand for a while, before putting them back in his inventory. After that, Sol continued to look down before seeing another item obtained from a hidden quest, 'Random 1 Servant Skill (SR+ Guaranteed)'.

When he saw it, he sighed unconsciously. and before he could even think about anything The young man's fingers moved so fast as if it was at the speed of a bullet. This was the result of him getting salt last time, with 3 random bronze cards appearing out of 5. This round, however, was a random Servant's skill that was guaranteed to have an SR level or higher. So there's nearly no way for him to get a salt.

A rainbow light shone before a golden card appeared in the foreground, transforming into a text message indicating which Servant's skill he has acquired.

< You have acquired Servant Skill ['Godspeed A' of Richard the Lionheart Rarity: SSR] >

< Godspeed A

From the extent of Richard the Lionheart's marches and his almost lightning speed on the battlefield. The longer the battle continues, the more his Agility stat increases. >

'This skill's details... It's super overpowered, isn't it!?'

Having finished reading the description of the skill, Sol was stunned for a moment. The longer the battle goes on, the more his agility would. And since there was no specific limit, depending on the situation, maybe he could be as fast as the speed of a bullet.

'Good job, system. Good job.'

Sol grinned with joy, like a child satisfied with a new toy. Before letting out a soft laugh alone, he then immediately pressed equip on this skill. The reason for that wasn't because he was going to test it out. But it was only because he wanted to put it first. As for asking when to test it, he plans to do it soon.

After equipping Richard the Lionheart's skill, He also tried on some other skills and Heroic Costumes to see what they look like, starting with Leonidas' Heroic Costume. He wore a golden breastplate and helmet. A crimson robe, black underpants, and just one pair of sandals. It doesn't seem suitable for the snow outside at all but somehow he doesn't feel cold at all.

He later tried on William Tell's Heroic Costume, which overall resembled a military uniform in black and bulletproof vests. and had an old green scarf on his neck. It was very different from Leonidas' costume as it covered almost all parts of the body except the head.

There was also Arash's Scarlet Bow, which was larger than he imagined. It was slightly taller than him but the weight was still at a level that he could hold better than Heracles' weapon that he had used. As for the other skills, he only read through the details.

After Sol had read all that, he had to swallow a little bit of saliva because they weren't ordinary at all. If used properly, they were skills that could potentially be at the same level of cheating as the 'Godspeed' skill he was equipping right now. He would say that the rarity has almost nothing to do with the effectiveness of these skills, except for flashiness.

When he looked at it, he felt as if whoever designed this system was just copying the Fate/Grand Order game system and pasting it into their system, absolutely without reading anything first.

The young man though had no complaints because this was a profit for him.

'Good job, system. Good job.'

After praising the awesomeness of this system, Sol turned off the 'Inventory' system before he explored the next function he has just unlocked, the 'Shop System.' As soon as Sol pressed on it, so much information appeared in front of him that he could barely keep up with it. He then slowly read through it.

At first, only food was seen, such as Prepackaged sandwiches, prepackaged chicken burgers, soda bottles, and pork steak. It even has an instant noodle cup. The price of these items ranges from 500 g. to 1,000 g. but with a budget of up to 21,000 g., It is a little overpriced but at least he could still buy it.

However, when he scrolled the list of items to the Servant section, His eyes widened as soon as he saw the 'price.'

< Servant Skill 'Harp of Healing B' of 'David' Rarity: R

Price: 300,000 g.

Servant Skill 'Battle Continuation A+' of 'Shuten Douji' Rarity: SSR

Price: 7,500,000 g. >

< Heroic Costume 'Heracles (Berserker)' Rarity: SR

Price: 2,500,000 g.

Heroic Costume 'Merlin' Rarity: SSR

Price: 15,000,000 g. >

< Noble Phantasm 'Zabaniya (Delusional Heartbeat)' of 'Hassan of the Cursed Arm' Rarity: UC

Price: 200,000 g.

Weapon 'Arondight' of 'Lancelot (Saber)' Rarity: SR

Price: 4,000,000 g. >

< 'Spartacus' Full Set Rarity: C

Price: 300,000 g.

'Gilgamesh (Archer)' Full Set Rarity: SSR

Price: 50,000,000 g. >

'H- How cruel ... what's with these outrageous prices? Why are you so greedy, huh, system!?'

Sol is hardly able to find words to describe. Although he is still able to find an excuse such as the fact that this was his first time doing World Drift, or that he just passed through the tutorial recently. At the same time, looking at the price, he would probably have to play at least 100 world quests to be able to buy one SSR item. Until then, whether he survives or not is another matter.

When he attempted to scroll down, he saw that some items were obscured by black lines, only met with 'Your level hasn't met the requirement.', causing him to reluctantly skip them and keep scrolling down until he reach the special item category, which includes items that can be seen in a fantasy MMORPG game.

For example, the HP potion and the MP potion cost 1000 g. As the name suggests, it has the ability to heal wounds and restore magic power, respectively. There is also an inventory card that he received for free before, which in the shop is priced as high as 10,000 g.

After moving to this place Sol secretly felt a little happy that it means all the free items he got is worth around 50,000 g. But at the same time, it hurts to find that if he had to use more inventory cards, he would have to pay another 10,000 g. which currently he is only able to buy 2 of them.

The last is 'Servant Item Randomizer', which is available in 2 types, '1 Pull' and '10 Pulls', with a price of 300,000 g. and 3,000,000 g., respectively. Upon doing 10 Pulls, you are guaranteed to get 1 Full Set Servant and 1 SR rarity item.

'I can't even do one pull because I don't have enough money.

Sol thought to himself as he looked at the system in front of him with a slight anger on his face before he shook his head with an expression that turned into disappointment.

'Bad job, system. Bad job.'

Feeling exhausted from studying the system, Sol turned off the 'Shop System' and finally opened up the 'Quest' instead, his expression slowly returning to a more stern and serious look. His eyes focused on the contents of the quest. while making a plan of what to do next.

'Changing Esdeath's personality or killing her... Well, if truth be told, Killing her is probably the easiest solution. while changing one's personality is likely to be more difficult. But to kill this child is... a little too much so there's only one option left...'

Thinking of this, the young man let out a sigh before continuing to grumble in his mind.

'How am I going to change this girl's personality, though? Like if I have 'Tatsumi', I might have a chance but this is just me alone… Do I need to pull out some big philosophical textbook on her or something? Either way, It's very difficult.'

The young man began to ruffle his hair as he couldn't figure out what to do next, even though considering all the options, it felt like it wasn't working at all... Of course, he had also taken into consideration the matter of making Esdeath 'fall in love', not only did he not compatible with children but he was also not a 'Lolicon' kind of guy. If it is her in an 'adult' form then it's a different matter but since he'd rather not risk jail time now, Sol cut off that option.

...Esdeath is one of the key characters in Akame Ga Kill, a dark fantasy anime with a shonen vibe. To summarize, this story is about the Night Raid organization, one of the covert divisions of the Revolutionary Army consisting of skilled assassins who chase down evil people who use their power to oppress the people. and aims to overthrow the prime minister who dictates the corruption of the empire.

Esdeath is one of the big villains of the story. She is a general who possesses the power of ice manipulation. She is also known as the strongest in the empire and plays the role of the last boss of the story. A person who adheres to the ideology of "The strong survive and the weak die." She likes war and killing the most and was considered to be one of the most sadistic characters in the entire series.

Even though she sounds like someone who has no redeeming quality, she has a soft side too. Such as how she falls in love with the protagonist 'Tatsumi', who is on the rebellious side, by accident in the middle of the story. With this relationship, her personality started to change, albeit only a little, while she tried her best to make Tatsumi return her love. They were a ship that surprisingly has a lot of supporters, despite the toxicity behind them.

Personally, Sol shipped Tatsumi with Chelsea though in his first time watching... but that didn't end well either.

Sol himself had only watched the anime version too. He had heard through his friend that the anime had a slightly different ending than in the original manga but he hadn't read it yet, so he didn't know what it was. At the end of the anime though, Esdeath dies while embracing Tatsumi's body before slowly freezing them together. The ice then vaporized, destroying both of their bodies.

But even the protagonist of the story, Tatsumi, whom Esdeath is madly in love with, is unable to persuade her to change her view of the world. Therefore, he himself wondered how he could do it. Sol sat tense like that for a while. He tried to create a plan in his head but crashed into a dead end several times until he finally found a simple solution, 'Let's think about it later!' Before changing the subject to another instead.

'Next is Esdeath's father who seems to be still suspicious of us... Which is not strange if looking from that point of view. I am a stranger from nowhere. Plus, when I woke up crying my ass off like that. It would be strange for him to think that I am not strange!'

'But now the problem is on me. If he seriously asked me where I came from and how I got here, and I couldn't find a good answer, I'd probably get kicked out of the village before I could protect it according to my quest, and if I said outright that I came from another dimension, no one would believe me either nor is it a good idea at all.'

Sol thought so in his mind. He thought about many things as an excuse such as memory loss, a story of escaping death, and even a cliche plot development like traveling to learn about the world as well.

He didn't know why though, all the stories he could come up with would always sound like a farfetched lie or a very big contradiction to the interaction he had with Esdeath's father before. At the very least, the memory loss story is out of the field.

The young man thought about that for a moment before coming up with an idea. Then he opened his inventory and read the detailed information about one of the items that he had read earlier. As soon as he finished reading, his eyes were filled with a burning flame of determination. Finally, he tried out that skill, which lasted for tens of minutes before he found real success.

'If my story doesn't seem credible then... Let's make up the evidence!'

Sol then chuckled lightly in his throat and began to compose a story to match the 'evidence' that he had found a way to create a moment ago. A smile was visible on his face in the darkness. before a message box appeared while the young man was making up a story as if he knew it in his heart.

< Congratulations! From diligence to practicing skills with your own hands. The system has recognized your effort and permanently grants you a new Personal Skill

You have acquired a Personal Skill. [Storyteller C-]

You received 5,000 g. >

'Oh! Good job, system. Good job!'

When he saw that the system had given him a new Personal Skill, stating that 'It was made by his own hands' and gave him 5,000 g. It was like throwing coals into the burning fire of passion. Sol continually brainstormed various storylines into it. From just making up excuses, it is starting to become something more like composing a fairy tale or some kind of novel.

Even if the story seems too outlandish for a mere dude like himself but with the ability from one of the Servants that Sol reads, he's confident that no matter how over the top the story gets, People will still believe him. …Little did he know that later in the world of Akame Ga Kill, this fictional story will turn into a folk legend.

'Should I add this in? Nah, this is enough. This side of the story is enough too, hmm...'

Even in his sleep, he was still crafting the story until it was finally finished at dawn.
