CHAPTER 126: MAKING DECISIONS

"You know Diana, my brother's greatest fear is that you might leave him one day. That's why he was scared to get close to you at first. Do you remember the day you ran out of the office crying and bumped into me outside?"

Diana nodded.

"Good. That's when we talked. He was worried, asking, 'What if she leaves someday?' I told him that instead of focusing on the possibility of you leaving, he should focus on making the most of his time with you. Now, he's used to having you around. No one planned on you getting pregnant, which made everything more intense. Whether my brother admits it or not, we all know he's grown attached to you, ever since he decided to accept you.

And now, you didn't just threaten him with leaving; you also brought the baby into it, which is why he reacted the way he did.

"That thing I experienced—was that his power too?"

"Yes, the worst of it," Jared replied.

"The day I felt it, it was like all the blood drained from my body, like something was sucking away my life force. Breathing became difficult. Is that what happened?"

"Close to that," Diana said. "I don't know how, but he managed to turn away from me before it escalated to that point."

"Well, according to him, he's never turned away from someone before. I wonder what happens when he doesn't. His power also surfaces when he's extremely angry. The best thing to do is to look away when that happens."

"Look, Diana, I know you didn't plan for all this—his baggage, his issues. He didn't want to show you the kind of person he really is. But I guess things spiraled out of control, and now you know everything so quickly. If you decide to leave after knowing all of this, I understand, and my brother will understand too. But I had to let you know—it's a decision you need to make for yourself."

The duo sat in silence as Diana, deep in thought, stared ahead. Just then, Harry walked in.

"Sister-in-law," Harry called as he approached her.

"Oh, Harry!" Diana turned to him, her voice tinged with urgency. "How is my husband? Is he okay?"

"Yes, he is," Harry reassured her. "He was asking for you earlier."

"He's awake?" Diana asked, her face lighting up.

"Yes, he is," Harry confirmed.

"Are you okay?" he added, concern evident in his tone.

"Yes, I'm fine," Diana responded as she stood up.

"Where are you going?" Harry and Jared asked in unison.

"To check on him, of course," Diana replied.

"Well, I need to check on you first," Harry said firmly, gently taking her hand and guiding her back to her seat. "Your husband specifically asked me to make sure you're okay, and he said he'd kill me if I didn't." A small smile played on his lips. "And, truthfully, I initially came here for you."

Diana smiled faintly and sat back down.

Harry took her hands in his, his fingers resting lightly on her wrist as he checked her pulse. Then, using his stethoscope, he listened to her heartbeat. His eyes flickered with something unreadable before returning to normal. He didn't want to jump to conclusions until he was certain.

"You're okay," he said reassuringly, "and I'm sure the baby is fine too. As long as you're healthy, so is your baby."

"Well, that's good to know," Diana said with a small sigh of relief.

Harry nodded, his expression calm but professional. "Now, tell me about the symptoms you've been experiencing. Your husband mentioned you think the meds are working too slowly."

"Harry," Diana interrupted, "can we have this conversation later? I need to see my husband so he knows I haven't left yet."

Harry hesitated for a moment but nodded, releasing her hand.

Jared smiled as the two men followed behind Diana as she left the room.
