The shout Conquest of the Sea entered Kaido's ears. In that moment, it was as if Kaido saw his younger self.
Back when he was on the Rocks' ship, Charlotte Linlin had taught him many things, which were an indispensable part of his growth.
Having a teacher and not having a teacher makes a world of difference in how fast one grows.
The people on the Rocks' ship weren't exactly loyal. With Rocks' permission, conflicts between crewmates were frequent. These were chances to hone one's strength—survive the battles, and then repeat the process. As long as you didn't die, you'd eventually grow stronger.
But Charlotte Linlin was different. She genuinely taught him.
From the day he boarded the ship, she warned Kaido that Rocks couldn't be trusted. If there was anything he didn't understand, he could come ask her. Later, she even taught him many of her most guarded techniques—one of them being the Giants' Spear of Elbaf.
Elbaf was universally recognized as the strongest nation in the world. They possess tremendous heritage, and the Giants' techniques were part of that.
This particular technique was originally developed based on the Giants' massive physiques. Very few people had both the opportunity and talent to learn it. Thanks to Charlotte Linlin, Kaido became one of those few.
But as time went on, Kaido and Charlotte Linlin went their separate ways. That part of his life could now only be relived in memories.
After forming the Beasts Pirates, Kaido didn't keep anything to himself. If he thought someone had potential, he taught them everything—techniques, moves, everything without holding back.
Kaido was, without question, the number one instructor in the Beasts Pirates.
Few could learn this technique—only King and Shayna succeeded in learning it, eventually developing their own "Conquest of the Sea" combo technique.
That's right. Kaido only explained the concept to them and gave them guidance from the sidelines. The rest was all Shayna and King.
To use this technique, mutual understanding and teamwork were essential. Kaido couldn't find another suitable partner, and he had no desire to go look for Charlotte Linlin, so this was the only way.
Truthfully, he had wanted to teach Yamato. With Yamato's talent, their combo technique would surely have surpassed even what he had with Charlotte Linlin.
But while Yamato didn't refuse when training alone, the moment she heard she had to do a combo attack with Kaido, she ran faster than an Arcanine. She was instinctively repulsed by that kind of weird stuff.
Just the thought of training a combo attack with Kaido gave Yamato the chills—and in the end, it never happened.
A vast and mighty wave of energy roared out in an instant. In the blink of an eye, the wave swept across everything ahead of it, blasting toward the pirates of the Blackbeard Pirates, with the first to suffer being Wolf.
His body was enormous—but the Spear of Elbaf was designed specifically to target large-sized opponents, and the combo attack Conquest of the Sea was even more so.
The Hakoku Sovereignty unleashed jointly by Dorry and Brogy could easily destroy an Island Eater, a creature even larger than an island—compared to that, Wolf's size was really nothing.
The wave swept across everything in its path, surging forward with unstoppable momentum.
The air erupted with explosive sounds, forming violent winds. Directly hit head-on by Conquest of the Sea, Sanjuan Wolf was sent flying, crashing through a Marine Headquarters building before landing in the plaza of Marineford.
"What the hell is that thing?! It's even bigger than Oars!"
"Never heard of him before—but what on earth took him down? Who is behind it?!"
"He's wearing prison clothes? Just what kind of monster escaped from Impel Down?!"
Whether they were Marines or pirates, everyone was stunned by Wolf's size. He was simply too massive. With that terrifying size, even if he did nothing and simply stepped on the ground, he could cause huge casualties.
And yet, such a massive giant was now missing an arm out of nowhere, and had already lost consciousness, collapsed on the ground—which only made people even more curious about who it was that had taken him down.
King and Shayna sheathed their weapons. In front of the two of them, there was now nothing—only dust falling slowly to the ground.
The raging flames unleashed by Shot had long since been extinguished. The Blackbeard Pirates had all been buried beneath the rubble.
Conquest of the Sea was not something you could take head-on easily. Even with aura buff and faction buff, Zoro, after blocking a Conquest of the Sea combo attack from Kaido and Charlotte Linlin for just one second, had all the bones in his body shattered and fell into a near-death state.
The Kid Pirates were completely wiped out by Dorry and Brogy's Hakoku Sovereignty.
Those with weaker strength, like Burgess and Doc Q, were killed outright under the joint Conquest of the Sea by King and Shayna. The rest, if not dead, were severely wounded. If not for Sanjuan Wolf's massive body absorbing the brunt of Conquest of the Sea, the others would've ended up in an even more miserable state.
After all, the human body is this world's strongest defense—whether facing "Conquest of the Sea" and Akainu's "Hell Hound" or enduring ordinary bullets and slashes, the body always manages to hold its ground.
"Worororo, that actually looked pretty damn decent. I almost feel like I've gotten younger again... That damned b*stard, he actually interfered with my fight!"
Thinking of this, Kaido suddenly bore a grudge against Blackbeard. If it hadn't been for that guy interfering in his battle, he would also be enjoying the fight right now.
Meanwhile, over where Sengoku and Zephyr were, the two of them hadn't been taken out of commission just yet. The time that passed had been enough for Sengoku to catch his breath, and once back on his feet, he looked in Kaido's direction.
"Kaido of the Beasts. That guy is an even greater threat than Whitebeard."
Younger than Whitebeard, capable of flying, and almost entirely unrestrained in his actions—Kaido's threat level, in Sengoku's eyes, has skyrocketed.
At first, Kaido gave outsiders the illusion that he could be reasoned with. The Beasts Pirates' trading arrangements made the higher-ups think this force was relatively stable.
But Kaido's actions told Sengoku loud and clear—that was all fake.
"We've got to find a way to keep him here. If we let this lunatic return to the sea, there might never be another chance."
"Old friend, can you still fight?"
"I'll be fine, but your body... that hit did serious damage. I might not be able to look after you later. Damn Blackbeard—this whole mess is his doing."
Thinking of Blackbeard, Sengoku couldn't help but curse out loud. The sneak attack was one thing, but according to Magellan's report, if it hadn't been for Blackbeard, there wouldn't have been a mass breakout from Impel Down in the first place.
And if Blackbeard hadn't captured Ace, Strawberry might not have died, and there would have been no use for the Summit War. The World Government had basically been played like fools by Blackbeard.
"Don't underestimate me. I was a former Marine Admiral, remember?"
Looking at the destroyed Marineford, a spark of fighting spirit seemed to reignite inside Zephyr. And without Sengoku noticing, Zephyr pulled out a sealed container and loaded it into the Smasher on his right arm.
The container was filled with an unknown liquid, and inside floated a strangely colored rock. Under its glow, a sinister purple light flickered faintly.
This was no ordinary stone—it was one of the forbidden goods controlled by the World Government: the Dyna Stone.
