The seasoned servant, who bore the marks of age upon his face, paused momentarily after setting Xuan Yi's breakfast before him. A mischievous grin played upon his lips as he regarded the young master with a mixture of intrigue and curiosity. He spoke in a measured tone, concealing his burning desire to hear every detail of Xuan Yi's journey, while still conveying his genuine intrigue.
"Young master Xuan, you have been absent for quite some time during this venture," he remarked, his voice laced with a restrained enthusiasm.
"Ah, Mr. Xu," Xuan Yi responded, his voice brimming with an eagerness to recount his experiences. "You cannot imagine the events that unfolded along the way. We even crossed paths with an immortal and encountered the hidden Wailing Mountain tribe..." His excitement was palpable, a fervor that matched the intensity of his desire to share every ounce of his adventure. And share he did, with a meticulous attention to detail, though perhaps omitting a few minor aspects, as he endeavored to immerse Mr. Xu in the tapestry of his exploits.
Tian Wei, listened in silence, his thoughts drifting to the similarities between Xuan Yi's animated storytelling and the gossipmongers of the small town where they had encountered Immortal Wan Dao.
Xuan Yi possessed a deft skill in the art of spinning tales, infusing his narratives with a touch of embellishment and exaggeration. Yet, Tian Wei couldn't help but wonder if the true ordeal of their journey, with all its profound and otherworldly encounters, was already too awe-inspiring for the common folk to grasp, let alone a magnified rendition of it.
The expression on Mr. Xu's face revealed a profound mix of awe and credulity. However, this Mr. Xu remained steadfast, never breaking character, for he was a masterful listener.
He interjected with gasps of astonishment and even mimicked the actions described by Xuan Yi, his gaze fixed and darting with precision.
Truly, he was the epitome of the perfect audience. And as the tale unfolded, more servants gathered around, eager to partake in the unfolding saga of the "Legend of Xuan Yi" or "Xuan Yi's brushes with death."
Whether they truly believed every word or not was inconsequential. What mattered was the captivating nature of the story.
They would carry it with them, whispering it among themselves and embellishing it further with each retelling. Xuan Yi had gifted them with a topic of conversation, a tale to ignite their imaginations. Whether this tale held more significance than the enigmatic guest sitting beside him, Tian Wei, or the mysterious events of the morning remained to be seen.
"Truly, Young Master Xuan's adventure is a narrative befitting the annals of legends," Mr. Xu confessed, his admiration for Xuan Yi's accomplishments shining through. "You have not only broken through the barriers of strength but have become the envy of those who once despised you." His words held a genuine admiration for Xuan Yi's remarkable journey. Even the most skeptical observer would have to acknowledge that Xuan Yi had surpassed the limitations of cultivation phases and traversed multiple cycles. And, in the realm of possibility, Mr. Xu even dared to entertain the notion that Xuan Yi may have indeed encountered an Immortal. Though he could not affirm it with absolute certainty, a glimmer of belief flickered within him, however improbable it may seem.
"Ah, young Xuan Yi." He sighed and spoke almost under his breath. "I heard young master Xuan Yi offended the Mo Sect members. Now young master Xuan Yi may not know this, but this sect is mysterious and the power behind them runs as deep as the sea. It is whispered that those behind them aren't held back by this mortal garb. Young master must be careful. Even the clan head treats them with caution."
Xuan Yi sighed. And turned to Tian Wei who listened all the while and barely spoke a word.
"What are Mo seeking here?" He asked Mr Xu.
"This old man has no certainty. But I have heard that there will be a recruitment competition. I do not know the nature of the competition or the purpose of it. But those that participate get enrolled into a very prestigious academy or some kind.
The Mo seem to have a keen interest in this event and their presence here may be related to it. Whether they are ally's or foe isn't clear at this point. But one thing is for sure, they aren't very friendly and it shows.
All this sounded interesting. Tian Wei considered it deeply and understood that it appeared that there was a lot happening within the shadows and the world was bound to change drastically.
From the secrets and the many hidden forces he could tell a grand scheme of some kind, or some deep secret of these ancient tribes was about to unfold.
