Looking over the scores and comparing how far below them he was Ash tightened his fist, he knew he had to work hard, much harder. He wasn't jealous nor was he upset he was only disappointed in himself and if he was far behind it was due to his own faults and lack of self push. Everyone looked over their score talking away.
" Hey Leonard, I guess we're brothers now" a voice laughed slapping Lynx in the back. Lynx looked up seeing Zen with his usual gleeful manner.
" I'm in the eighteenth place and you're just below that. So I guess we are related huh" Zen said laughing again. Lynx looked up at the screen looking at were his name was, he then looks at Ash's name. He remembered Ash saying he wanted to be in the top ten and in the top ten he was. Lynx remembered Quil's face when he got the points and wanted to separate, it seemed even Quil too might have wanted to be in the top ten. Ash knew what he wanted and Quil too seemed to know what he wanted, but Lynx he wasn't sure. He knew what he wanted in the beginning but then his ideals changed, if he was to make a difference was he to strive to be like Ash and Quil or maybe like the person in first place, if he got that far could he really make a difference.
Ash overheard Zen and thought his way of thinking made no sense at all, not in the slightest, not one bit. The bell rang and the student went to their classes.
It was the first period and the students of 1R entered their class saying good morning as they did, they took their seats waiting for Mr. Hexon to start the lesson.
" Well let's start with the registry" Mr. Hexon said lazily as he took up a device.
" Reea and Zori Bell"
" We're here sir"
" Arsa Choi"
"Yes sir"
" Pixie Mercury"
"The one and only"
" Jade Pink"
"Here"
" Tina Sheild"
" Present sir"
Mr. Hexon slid his finger over the screen where the boys name then appeared.
" Jai Belgard"
"Frendrick Finn"
" Dar-Ce Melhin"
" Yes sir" Dar-Ce answered looking to the side as he hated the pronunciation of his name, it sounded like a girl's name.
" Taron Mile, Shane Mitch and Tyxin Navis"
" Zen Rayden, Ash Redbyon and Lynx Ro". Only two voices answered yes sir. Mr. Hexon looked up with his worn out eyes repeating the names again and only Ash and Lynx answered.
" I guess I'll mark him absent then" Mr. Hexon muttered to himself. Before his finger could touch the screen the door slid open.
" Good morning sir" Zen said happily stepping into the class room.
" I hope you know you're late" Hexon replied wearily.
" Yes sir, there was a traffic on the side walk and something else but I don't remember" Zen responded his tone still gleeful. Mr. Hexon ignored his words and carried on with the registry.
" Quil Spikin, Melton Venus, Will White". All boys answered yes sir or present.
" Ray X-vin and Lawrence Yen"
" Now that that's over with. I'd like to take the opportunity to congratulate those who passed the exam" Mr. Hexon said. To the students it sounded more like a funeral ceremony than a congratulating one.
"Though I'm disappointed only five of you are in the top ten" Mr. Hexon said looking over the heads of the students.
" Tyxin Navis". Tyxin stood up upon hearing his names.
"Yes sir"
"Congrats, you really did outstanding. Above and beyond" Hexon complimented looking at the tablet like device's screen. " He got 8000 points, which breaks the previous record that was Seven Thousand Nine hundred points from two years ago". The class clapped in admiration. Tyxin bowed forward slightly.
" I must tell father the news, and brother too. They will be proud" Tyxin praised jumping happily on the inside. He then takes his seat.
" Ray came in second with Seven Thousand points. Nice work Ray. Ash at sixth with Six Thousand Seven Hundred, Tina in seventh with Two Hundred points less than that and Pixie in tenth with Six Thousand". Each time a students name was called they stood up receiving claps from their classmates.
" For the ones barely worth mentioning. Lawrence at eleventh place also with Six Thousands points" the students looked at Mr. Hexon as if they were asking how was that possible. He noticed and explained Pixie had the points first before the exam was closed.
" Quil in thirteenth with Five thousand Nine hundred and Eighty- five", As Hexon called Quil's name the boy next to him scoffed. " Arsa at seventh place Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety, Zen at eighteenth with Four Thousand Eight Hundred, and Lynx in nineteenth with Four Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety-five. Everyone else below that isn't worth mentioning and if I wasn't feeling so tired I would of expel you, but I can't be bothered with that much paperwork" Hexon added putting down the tablet. The students wondered when was he not tired.
Home room period ended and the students went off the there next class. They did History and After that followed Math. The bell rang and it was now lunch break. The corridors were now packed with students as everyone made their way to the cafeteria. Students of every class were scattered everywhere mixing and mingling as some had friends from other classes. The hatred for 1R that was towered the first day had washed down a little, but there were those who still disliked them. They sat at a table together and a student with blonde short hair wearing glasses stepped over to them. His table was only a few steps away. He stood before their table looking down.
" If it isn't the infamous 1R, I heard only five of you made it in the top ten" he said gently with a light laugh. " You shouldn't only rely on brut force, you guys should study harder", the boy continued gently placing his hand on Taron's shoulder. Taron shrugged his body away looking up at the boy.
"What's the deal man" Taron voiced loudly.
" No need for violence" the boy said raising a arm and taking a step back.
"Quinn!" a voice shouted. Everyone looked at a girl who marched over to the boy.
" Don't tell me you're causing trouble" she said slightly angry as she ignored the students sitting.
" Of course not. I'm trying to help them. As class president I have taken it upon myself to help the other's grow to their fullest potential. I remember helping this one during the exam." Quin answered taking Zori's hand with a tender touch. " I could have stolen her and other's points but I didn't and I still managed to be in fifth place. But look at these students who fought hard and even stole points but still not in the top ten" Quinn continued innocently as he smirked.
" I'll make sure I'll have us all on the top. We are the next generation. You can't just fail and slack off right ?" Quinn sounded honest, but at the same time it sounded as if he was mocking or looking down on them.
" Excuse me did you say class president?" Tyxin asked looking up.
" Why yes. Don't your class have a president ?".
" Hmm no". Quinn turned his back trying not to laugh as he covered his mouth while his shoulders were shaking. He then spun back around with his charming face.
" Oh no. No wonder you guys are failing you don't have a proper leader. I'm sure all classes picked their president since last week. This is such a shame. But don't worry I'll help you, you guys are mostly muscles any way", Quinn said chuckling lightly with the invisible light glowing behind him as if he was some sort of savior. Everyone in 1R who heard him could feel the mockery but he was being too nice and it would go unnoticed by others.
" Quinn" the girl called through her teeth. She was very aware of his behavior.
" Don't worry Scarlet I'm only helping. Three of the spots in the top ten belong to us, class of 1B and a nine other in the bracket of ten to twenty. If this keeps up maybe the school will change 1B to 1R. But don't worry I'll help you guys and if you work hard enough we can prevent that", Quinn said innocently mocking them as he gently placed a hand on Quil's head.
The students who overheard that class 1R haven't chosen a class president yet started gossiping.
" Please now everyone 1R has a lot to do, I'm sure it must be hard especially with that unknown professor of their's, they need all the help they can get", commented Quinn putting class 1R on the spot even more and putting himself in the light as some caring savior.
"If there's anything you need just call for big brother Quinn". The boy said nicely. Most of the students in 1R were secretly fuming as they knew Quinn was using them as some sort of stepping stone. Before Quinn could say anything else Scarlet pull him by the collar dragging him away as she felt the situation brewing and tried saving him from a fight. But even if a fight was to break out, not that he needed her help, he was good at twisting situations to look like some sort of victim.
" Easy now Scarlet you're smearing my image and wait let me fix my glasses" Quinn said allowing himself to be pulled away
" Oh shut up you twisted two timer and you don't even need glasses"
" They make me look smarter though" Quinn commented with a chuckle.
Lunch was over and everyone went back to their classes. The students of 1R had Physics now and Mr. Hexon was their teacher. He was already in class as they entered. Every took their seats, but before he could say anything Tyxin rose his hand, Hexon sighed and told him to speak.
" Mr. Hexon I heard that all the other classes had a class president so why don't we have one?"
Hexon's eyes open up a bit as he remembered something.
" I knew I was forgetting something" he said in a low voice.
" I forgot" he answered simply and the class huh in chorus.
" Have it done by the end of the day, moving on"
After all their classes had finished and they were waiting on Mr. Hexon to collect the evening registry to dismiss them so they took the opportunity with the time at hand to choose the class captain. Some of the students didn't care and other's didn't want the extra work. Lawrence, Tyxin, Tina, Quil and Pixie were up for the take and Ray joined in on the last minute. The remaining students placed their votes and Tyxin was chosen as class captain and Tina as Deputy. Ash wanted to give it a try but with his background he knew no one was going to vote for him.
Mr. Hexon arrived and Tyxin informed him of the results. Mr. Hexon hardly cared as he nodded and took the evening registry dismissing them.
The next morning in class Hexon informed his students he finally remembered something important, announcing that the top twenty students were being taken out on some sort of trip. Some of the students said if they knew that they would have worked harder which in return Hexon told them that's why they should always give it their all.
