The next day we decided to meet at Meh-Burger, again. Because.. that's like.. the only place we usually hang out. Ahem.
So I stretched and ran to Meh-Burger but just then I remembered, my new neighbour, Sonica and I hit the brakes right at the Meh-Burger. Tch, too fast yet too slow.
"Guys, I will be right back-" I ran back before they could respond and I knocked at Sonica's door. "Hello, newbie"
Maybe she would join us too? Wouldn't want someone to feel out of place, especially in a new place.
"Good morning, Sonica." I said as the door opened.
"Good morning." Sonica replied and covered her mouth as she yawned. Then she crossed her arms while leaning against the doorframe. "So, you had some work..?"
I nodded slowly, glancing at her messy quills, "Yeah, we decided to meet at Meh-Burger today. So... I thought if..."
"No, I can't join you. I have some work."
Is this her attitude or what?!
"No, no, I understand. But I would be glad-I mean ππ² would be glad if you would join us too." I looked at her and sighed. "Please...?"
"Fine." She sighed and brushed her quills with her hands.
"Great. Now let's go." I smirked and stepped back. "Wanna race?"
That way I would find out if they were saying the truth or not.
She paused, "But where is this Meh-Burger?"
"Right.." He sighed and crossed my arms. Just follow me. It's not that far from here."
"Alright.." She sighed again and we started walking.
She walked beside me, hands in her pockets. And she didn't say anything. She was so... quiet. Probably because I am still a stranger. But. . .
Why does she always sigh?
"Anything wrong?"
"No." She replied in that monotone voice.
THAT monotone voice.. gets on my nerves.
Then we walked in silence and soon we reached Meh-Burger.
"We are here!" I said and she just waved her hand, slow. They waved back.
She didn't say anything else the whole time.
"Come on.." I muttered to Sonica and walked towards them, taking a seat beside Knuckles.
Amy patted the empty chair beside her and Sonica accepted the seat.
"Have you guys eaten already?" I asked.
"Nope, we were saving your chillidogs from thr flies." replied Knuckles while licking the ketchup off his fingertips.
"Right.." I grumbled and made my order.
Everyone also started eating except...Sonica. So I offered her a chillidog. "Here."
"No.. thank you."
But I insisted, "Try it once."
Stop being so stubborn.
"..Fine." she whispered, almost awkwardly and took a bite of the chillidog.
"How's it?" I leaned against the chair, already knowing the answer.
"It's.. spicy." she replied while looking at the chillidog.
Spicy? Excuse me, it's 'delicious.'
"You got sensitive taste buds." I muttered underneath my breath and focused on my precious chillidogs.
Just then the ground started shaking.
"It's Eggman!" Knuckles stood up immediately.
"Everyone ready!" I got in my stance and so did everyone.
"But who's Eggman?"
And that question hit the brakes.
"Uh.. he's an evil scientist who tries to destroy us and the village." Tails replied, scratching his head.
"But he never wins." I snickered and looked at what I was expecting. Eggman and his bots.
There were many small bots again like bee bot, motobug and crab bot as usual. But this time he had brought a big robot which he himself controlled from inside the robot. Ha, egghead never gets tired of losing?
"Be ready to lose, Sonic. Today I will get rid of you and your friends once and for all. Hahahahahah!!" Eggman said his usual line while launching missiles from the shoulders of the robot.
"We will see, egghead. Everyone on their position!" I said as everyone, except for Sonica.
Sonica just stood there leaning against the wall, crossing her arms. Her face looked emotionless as usual.
I think I was starting to catch her habit of sighing.
Then the battle started:
First I used spin attack to destroy the bots. Amy crushed some of them with her hammer. Knuckles was, of course, punching them with his.. knuckles. Sticks used her boomerang and Tails hit the bots with a wrench. And... Sonica was just standing there, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed..
Damn. She's so edgy.. Reminds me of someone.
Just then someone pulled me by my arm and I realised that it was Sonica! She waved me when Eggman's big robot was about to hit me?!
But she was just standing there a sec ago-
"Focus." she shook my shoulder.
Then Eggman leaned forward with his bot, "Hey, who's this new, blue rat?"
Then Sonica sighed and said, "Mind your own business." And she started to go back where she was standing before.
But then Eggman laughed to provoke her, "Oh! Is the blue rat scared?"
But she didn't reply. She just stood there, leaning against the wall like before, crossing her arms and looking at us with a look like 'start the show, I am watching.'
"Did you just ignore me?" Eggman raised his voice, annoyed.
"Yeah, she did, Egghead." I smirked, "Now let's get this over with."
After a continuous series of attacks, I managed to knock him out!
He flew off the robot in his jetpack and yelled, "Robots retrieve!!!"
"Dr. Eggman! Wait for us!" Orbot and Cubot jumped forward and held onto Eggman's legs. "Ugh, you little- Get off of me- Get your own jetpacks!"
The other bots also went behind him. But he did say : "I will defeat you next tome, blue pest!" before disappearing into a dot from a distance.
And. I. smirked.
Then I thought that the battle was over but, I was wrong! That big robot was now out of control. It was moving here and there, destroying the houses. Like a headless cockroach! Ugh, what am I thinking?!
"Gotta be quick-" I swiftly jumped into the robot's control system and pressed a few random buttons because it was too complicated. There were too many buttons.
I didn't know what to do. "Oh maybe this one-" I pressed a red button but NO! It ended up transforming its arm into a chainsaw!
"Tails! I need a little help here!" But Tails was busy saving the villagers who were close to fire.
On top of that! The robot brought its chainsaw towards the villagers' houses! No No No!
"Make this thing stop!!" I yelled while tugging on the levers, buttons and whatever!
But then, Sonica quickly got inside the robot, pressed 2 or 3 buttons combined and pushed a lever which made the robot slowly shut down!
I sighed in relief but then I realised.. that there was only one seat inside the robot and I was already sitting there which means that.. uh.. Sonica was sitting on my lap.
Before I could react, she quickly jumped out and stood there crossing her arms like nothing happened. I followed after her and scratched my head while looking at away.
She didn't say anything. What was I expecting?
Then Amy, Knuckles, Sticks and Tails came running towards us, "Sonic! Sonica! Are you two okay?"
"Where were you, Tails? I was calling you for help." I crossed my arms as well.
"We were helping the villagers. Their houses were on fire." replied Knuckles while imitating my arm-cross. Then Tails quickly extinguished the fire that was on Knuckles' back.
"Oh, is that so?" I raised a brow in sarcasm.
"Oh! Looks like you defeated this robot. Good job!" Knuckles patted my head, making me more annoyed.
Swatting his hand away, I added, "I didn't do it all by myself. I couldn't control the robot and then, Sonica helped me. Right, Sonica?"
She nodded, now hands in her pockets.
"Oh! Good job to you too!" Knuckles patted her head too and I swear I heard her stifle a snicker.
This girl has emotions..? I was about to lose hope, but am glad I was wrong.
"Now let's continue at Meh-Burger again!"

We were just sitting there for a while, bored. I and Knuckles were balancing the french fries..
Sonica was watching us with a emotionless expression... Ahem.
Tails was working on some inventions. And Amy and Sticks were... doing eachother's makeup, I feel bad for Amy.
Then I spoke.
"I have an idea guys."
The balanced french fries fell on the plate and everyone looked at me.
"What idea?" asked Amy.
I coughed to stifle my laughter as I saw Amy's makeup that was done by Sticks. But Tails and Knuckles already failed in doing so.
"Okay," I said while chuckling, "why don't we go camping?"
Everyone eyes widened for a second and they looked at eachother. Well, except Sonica.
"So...Is it a 'yes' or a 'no' ?" I scratched my head..
Then they (except Sonica) cheered at the same time, "YESSSS!!!"
I smirked.
"Its a great idea, Sonic." Amy added and hugged me cheerfully.
"Okay okay, Amy." I said and separated the hug. "Phew! You should get that makeup off quick."
"But what about Eggman?" asked Sticks.
I tried to rack my brain. "Uh.. Maybe.. we coul-"
"That won't be a problem! I will be here to protect the village." said someone in a heroic way.
Ugh.
That someone was Tommy Thunder. What he said was more hilarious than Amy's makeup.
"It's not that easy, Tommy. Do you think you can do this all by yourself?" I snickered, eating a fry.
"Yes, of course, but I am not alone, there are beaver policemen too. Besides, you don't have any other option." he grinned, showing his white, sparkly teeth.
I sighed and looked at the gang as they nodded.
"Fine!" I said and crossed my arms. "Don't come crying later."
"I shall not betray your trus-"
"Yeah,yeah, whatever."
Now that everyone had agreed, there were just two things left. 1. Convincing Sonica. And 2. Packing our stuffs.
But Sonica didn't say anything. She was just sitting there with her arms still crossed.
Why is she like that?!
"Is it a 'yes' from you too, Sonica?" I cooed.
"No-" Amy cut off Sonica and said, "Of course, it's a 'yes'. We will have a lot of fun. Isn't it, Sonica?"
Then Sonica sighed, "But I can't join you."
"And why not?"
"Because I don't want to." She replied in an annoyed way.
"Come on, Sonica. It won't be that bad." said Amy with puppy eyes.
"Fine.." she sighed for the 100th time and stood up, "If you say so.."
"Yess!!"
"So, lets get ready!"
"After we are done packing, we will meet here." said Amy. Everyone nodded.
And we were about to go to our respective houses but then Tails called Sonica.
"Sonica! Here, I have finished working on this communicator." Tails held the communicator out to her.
"Oh.. but.. you didn't have to.." she hesitantly took the communicator.
Ha! The edgy hedgehog can be shy now?
"You're a part of the gang now. Everyone has one. I gotta go now!" Tails chuckled and started to fly away.
"Th.. thank you.. I guess.." replied Sonica, looking at the communicator.
Oh I couldn't hold back my smirk.

Everyone had packed their stuffs! And we all were at the Meh-Burger again. They brought backpacks and Knuckles carried the other stuffs like tent, etc.
"Alright, let's go!!" I took the honourable place of their leader.
We started walking towards the hill where we would camp. On the way, I cracked some jokes and everyone laughed except Sonica as usual. We saw some insects on the way and Amy was scared and started hitting here and there with her hammer. I didn't think she would bring her hammer here, too. Then... Sticks squashed those insects with her feet. Very hygienic.
"Eeeeww!" Amy grimaced and I snickered.
But still Sonica hadn't laughed, smiled nor talked. She was just walking quietly.
Dammit! This was making me frustrated!
Then we continued walking and soon we reached our destination. We placed our bags on one side and enjoyed the view.. till we got bored again.
"Say cheese!" Amy smiled and clicked some photos of us.
"Lets take a group photo!" She beamed with excitement and adjusted the camera.
After a while, when the rest were busy singing, I took a look at the photos.
Most of the photos were of Amy, but to my surprise, there were some photos which included Sonica. But in every photo, she had either facepalmed or turned away. There wasn't a single accurate/proper photo of Sonica.
Was she always like this?
"Let's play blind man's buff!" Amy suggested.
"Blind man's what?!" Most of us shouted, confused and shocked.
"Uh.. the game were one wears a blindfold and has to find the others..?" Amy blinked, feeling awkward.
"Ohh that game." Everyone muttered. "Yeah, we can play that."
"Okay, so, you are the 'it' , Amy" I smirked.
"Okay, okay." she replied as Tails blindfolded her.
"Ready?"
"Yeah!"
Then the game started.
Amy started walking very slowly while her hands were extended forward, like grabby-hands.
"Where are you, guys? Give me a clue!"
"Fine!" I winked at everyone as a signal.
Everyone nodded and started blabbering.
"I am here!"
"To your left!"
"No no, your other left!"
"I am here! Here!"
"Turn around!"
"No, no! To your right! Right!"
"Why are you all blabbering at the same time?!" shouted Amy, frustrated.
I just chuckled again and everyone else started laughing.
"Ugh! I don't want to play this game anymore!" Amy yanked the blindfold off.
"But you were the one who suggested." I smirked.
"Fine! I take it back!" She huffed and turned away.
"Hey, where is Sonica?" Sticks suspiciously looked around and sniffed the air. "I swear she is upto something-"
"I don't know. She was just here a moment ago."
"I don't trust her-"
"I saw her going towards the forest while we were playing." said Knuckles while trying to put on the blindfold on himself.
"Forget, Sonica! It's time to set up the tents and the campfire!" yelled Sticks, throwing her hands in the air.
"Oh, yes! I had forgotten about those.. But what about Sonica?"
We tried calling her through the communicator but got no reply.
"She is also not picking up the call. How about I go to search for Sonica and you guys continue to set up the tents and campfire?" I suggested.
"Okay.. Please be careful." Amy and the rest waved their hands as I waved back before dashing into the woods.
Now, where could she be? It's a pretty big forest..
"Sonicaa" I ran here and there, calling, "SONICAA!!!"
No use.
I went even deeper into the forest. "Sonica!! Where are you?"
I sighed and rubbed my face, giving up.
Sticks was right-
Just then I saw something from the corner of my eye. Near the river, finally, FINALLY! There was Sonica!
There was this huge tree on the edge of the river and Sonica was hanging on one of the branches upside up with support of her legs!
And.. she had crossed her arms and closed her eyes. Maybe she was asleep.
Like a bat? Pfft-
I sneaked behind her and whispered, "Sonica" In her ear.
Her ear twitched as she quickly opened her eyes and was about to fall down but I caught her in bridal style.
Aw, she looks cute up close.
Then she quickly landed down and crossed her arms, AGAIN.
"What are you doing here?"
"Well, I should be asking that!" I smirked.
Then she sighed and looked awat, "I just came here to take some rest and clear my mind."
"Oh! But why were you hanging upside down?" I asked, chuckling. "Like a bat."
She growled lowly, "It's my choice. Now, lets go."
"Sure.." and we headed towards the camp. "Wanna race?"
"If you say so."
I nodded, smirking.
"Ready, 1 . . . 2 . . . 3. . . GO!!"
We started off at the same time. She was running right beside me with that emotionless expression.
I just looked at her, feeling a sudden urge to talk to her. Just as I opened my mouth-
"Look out!" She quickly pushed me aside and we both ended up rolling over the mushy grass, (mushy due to the rain lately). And it felt gross!
Then we fell/landed in a bush. I was lying flat on my back, one keg dangling over a branch. Ugh. I quickly spit the leaves out of my mouth before realising that Sonica was on top of me. . .
"Didn't you see the tree?! Where were you looking?!" She scolded me with that look and was about to get up but my arms instinctively wrapped around her. She was so warm.
Wait what?! Snap out of it, Sonic!
I immediately held my hands up. "I am sorry!"
She glanced to the side before getting off of me, and I stood up slowly, feeling a bit pain in my leg and arm. But that was nothing compared to the embarrassment I felt.
"I-I am sorry, I don't know what came over me."
She rubbed her arm while looking away, she didn't say anything and it was killing me.
Dammit, she hates me now?
I gulped at the thought.
Then my mind drifted off to the fact that there were leaves stuck on our heads and arms. I had injured my left elbow and right leg a little bit and there were a lot of scratches. Sonica had a lot of scratches too but she didn't act as if she was hurt. She just held her right elbow and started walking.
I sighed and started walking behind her.

After walking for a long time in silence, we finally reached the camp. Amy, Knuckles, Tails and Sticks had finished setting up everything and were looking at our direction.
"I see 'em!"
"We are back.." I said while holding my injured elbow, still unable to meet Sonica's eyes. . .
