I stared at the two fruits in front of me, the Peach Of Immortality and A Logia Type Devil Fruit.
Honestly, both are very attractive. But, I wasn't in the hurry to gain more lifespan, so the peach wasn't exactly my top priority right now.
Looking at its description, it may be called Peach Of Immortality. It doesn't give you eternal, but instead it gives you a few centuries worth of lifespan.
But regardless, many would kill to have this kind of fruit, and if this were to go public it's not an exaggeration that war would happen.
It might be a catalyst for a full-blown world war, the temptation of gaining extra few centuries was irresistible to most people.
Even magi would do anything to get their grabby hands for this piece of peach.
Now that I look at it, the sheer prana coming from it was ridiculous. It makes me wonder how I didn't notice it until now.
I have a few theories, but it's not important right now, as the other fruit gives me literally invincibility.
At least close to it, as this world doesn't have any haki preventing anyone from harming me physically.
But since this was the world of magus and monsters like dead apostle ancestors, there's a high chance that they might have a way to bypass this.
Not that it matters to me, as I'm already powerful enough to be called a top-tier powerhouse in my world.
It's not about power in this scenario, this is about me fulfilling my dream of eating a devil fruit!
As someone who watched One Piece, who hasn't dreamt of eating a devil fruit?
Certainly not me, however my biggest problem is the fruit weakness. Like, not being able to swim in water may not be a big deal but, it's still a weakness that anyone could exploit.
Then suddenly it hit me.
"Wait, is the devil fruit's weakness really that water or something else..?" I decided to check the description once more and saw that it was indeed water, however in the description it said something really specific for me to ignore.
It said water from One Piece, does this mean it only applies in one piece and not in this world?
"Ah, screw it. If I'm wrong then I'll buy something from the shop to remove this weakness."
Then without hesitation I took a bite from it, and immediately I tasted it.
My first instinct was to puke it out, like holy fuck this shit is nastier then the most disgusting shit in the world.
They said that it tasted bad, but this was on a whole new level.
For a few seconds, it was pure hell for my taste buds. Thankfully I managed to swallow it.
"Blurghh! F*CK! I won't eat this crap ever again! It's almost not worth eating at all!" Then I quickly went to the kitchen and took whatever dessert I could find and ate them without any reserve.
Due to the commotion that I caused, naturally Ai who was near heard it and quickly got in the kitchen to which she saw me devouring the food like a savage which was very unlike me.
I saw her tensing like she expected me to attack her or something. Normally I would have laughed at her overactive imagination but right now I couldn't because the very terrible after taste that the devil fruit left was still in the present and I wanted to get rid of it as soon as possible.
"Alex…?"
Despite her call I didn't answer her and was still wolfing down the desserts into my mouth.
She was no longer tense and was now trembling showing that she's really afraid. From looking at her it's very obvious that her education with my sister about the moonlit world affected her.
I don't know anything about the topics they discussed, but it was obvious that it's about monsters or dead apostles in this case.
Seeing me acting unusual like this made her think that I'm some sort of monster in disguise.
And the last bitter taste left my tongue, I finally managed to talk before she could escalate things to another level.
"Yeah, it's me. Sorry about not replying immediately, I ate something terrible and just wanted to get rid of the after taste." I gave her an apologetic looking expression.
Ai somehow managed to calm herself down, and then smiled brightly which I know is totally fake despite looking genuine.
"Oh! You totally scared me! I was worried for a second, I thought it was a monster in disguise, geez those lessons from Lorelei really grew on me!"
It's eerie how she quickly managed to bounce back from her earlier action, and she successfully changed the atmosphere.
That trait of hers is really valuable, a competent leader would want a subordinate that could seemingly change the atmosphere from the room.
I cracked a smile, used to her acting like this. "It must be quite the lesson."
"It sure is! But, there's something I've meant to ask."
"Go on."
"What exactly did you eat?"
I figured she would ask that question, then I answered. "I ate a devil fruit."
She tilted her head in a cute way, honestly she's way too good at making it so natural. "A devil fruit? That sounds really evil!"
"Nah, trust me. Despite its namesake, it's not evil at all, well maybe it depends on who consumed them."
"Hmm?" Ai raised a brow, indicating that she had no idea what I meant.
Then I clarified. "The devil fruit grants its user a superpower, so basically it depends on the person whether they would do evil things or not."
"Ah, how bizarre. A fruit like that exist? If you told me that a few days ago I wouldn't believe you, but knowing that the world isn't as simple as it seems I'm inclined to believe you, so where did you get it or what power did you receive from the devil fruit you ate?" Her questions were of genuine curiosity, can't really blame her for that as one piece manga doesn't exist in this world.
Pokemon did, but it's really surprising that no one knew about them when I introduced the Eevee and Alolan Vulpix to the kids.
I can understand my son not knowing pokemon as he's a literal old soul, but Ruby? Now that's a surprise.
On the other hand, my sister not knowing pokemon is understandable as she's a magus as few of our kind knows the existence of games.
As for Ai, well she has normie vibes on her, so…can't say I'm really surprised by her lack of knowledge, yeah I think I'll introduce (force) them to play pokemon later.
Anyway, to answer her questions. "I got the fruit from another dimension." Which isn't exactly a lie, as one could argue my shop is from another dimension, then continued. "As for what I received, it's better if I show it to you."
My body then turned into a light particle, only to reappear behind her back and poked her sensitive waist.
"Kyah!" Ai was caught off guard by this and couldn't stop herself from screeching.
I let out a laugh at her rather cute reaction, then Ai pouted realizing that it was a prank. "Okay, gosh that was so mean!"
"Sorry, not sorry. But hey, at least you know what I received from that demonstration."
"Barely, but I saw you turn into a light. Wow, so eating that fruit gives you the power of light?" It was clear that she was amazed by my ability to turn into light.
"That's right lady, although it takes effort to do it effortlessly." I was only able to do this easily thanks to Roger's template, while he may not have a devil fruit, the experience from this character was enough for me not to accidentally turn into a light particle.
Not to mention, it has similarities with magecraft. I didn't turn into an embarrassment after digesting the fruit.
"Do you have more?" A common question, after knowing the existence of devil fruit.
"At the moment, no I don't. But do you want one?" I don't particularly mind giving her a devil fruit, it's cheap after all.
Last time I checked Logia Types only cost about a few hundred M.C.
"Maybe, I'm not sure." Ai obviously was interested, but out of curiosity than anything else.
"Well I'll give you one soon, just tell me which type you want." I thought of giving the kids some too, but I refrained as they're still too young, maybe once they are older.
"A type?"
Then I proceeded to explain to her about the types of devil fruit available, from Paramecia, Zoan, Logia and even Mythical Zoan which belongs to the hybrid category.
After my explanation, she took it well and said, "Oh, I'm more interested in the Logia Type fruits, but having Mythical Zoan isn't bad either. I mean who wouldn't want to be a Phoenix or a Nine Tails!"
I do recall Marco having the Mythical Zoan fruit of Phoenix, as for the Nine Tails I'm not too sure if it existed but since I have the shop that has everything it must be.
We talked about what devil fruits she wanted for a while, but eventually the conversation stirred toward another topic which I've been dreading to hear.
"So, about that childhood friend of yours…her name was Luvia was it? Do you.. perhaps like her?"
I let out a sigh internally, I knew this conversation was coming soon, but not this soon.
Ai, who is pretty bad at remembering names, completely remembers Luvia's name while forgetting it, while it's just a nickname.
A name is a name regardless, as she's someone that tends to forget a person's name if she doesn't find them relevant to the heart.
