Charles carefully cradled the mouse in his hands as he spoke, but it was clear that the Pope did not want to answer his question.
"So the reason your departure is indefinitely postponed is because of this? A mouse?" The Pope laughed as he sat on the couch, but his eyes held no mirth.
Charles stroked Lily's head with his hand, shaking his head regretfully. "Lily is not a mouse; she's just been transformed into one by some means. Precisely speaking, she is still a human, just not from our world."
With a swish, the Pope suddenly stood up, his voice again carrying a hint of anger, "Stop telling me these things! Don't you want to return home?"
