A pause. Kael's voice dropped. Low. Dangerous. "Where is she?"
He wanted to intimidate the answer out of her. Fat chance.
Lara tilted her head.
"You want to find her?" she said, voice sharp like broken glass. "Go look for her yourself. She's probably around here somewhere."
His eyes flared—half fury, half fear. "Lara."he shouted.
"We just won a fight against the main building and got what we wanted. Don't start something unnecessary. Enjoy the evening like everyone else." She gave his chest a light tap—mocking, dismissive—and turned to leave.
He didn't move.
Didn't speak.
Didn't breathe.
Then he followed.
She knew he would. His presence clung like smoke.
Lara didn't slow down. She led him through the trees, past the edge of camp, and stopped near the river, where the moonlight hit hard and honest.
She turned to face him before he could open his mouth.
"You want to accuse me, do it with your chest," she said coldly.
