Chapter 17 - MY ROSE.

Back in her office after dealing with the five men. Lucia sank into her chair, with her legs on her desk, deep in thought.

The excitement she had whilst torturing the men and eventually killing them lifted her mood, but then,

Phone ring: Krrhhhhh krrhhhhhh

Lucia: What?

Caller's end: We lost track of him, miss.

Lucia: You incompetent fools.

Lucia hung up the call. Pissed

Lucia: Why do I have to do everything by myself, goddammit!

---------------------------------------------------

Logan: She had a tracker on you?

Collin: Yes.

I knew she would. I just needed to find out where she had hidden them.

Logan: I was right in not trusting her then.

Collin, I suggest you have a talk with your father.

Collin: I have thought about it, but not now.

I need to handle my sister first.

Logan: How come she despises you that much, though?

Collin: It wasn't always like this, you know. We were quite close when we were younger.

Logan: Yeah, I remember. You two were inseparable.

You know, when your dad took me in after the death of my parents and I first arrived at the mansion, I was so jealous of you guys.

Collin: Tsk, you were a crybaby.

Logan: Hey, I was not.

Collin: Hahahaaa

Logan: Well, I felt at home.

I realized things changed when your mom left.

Collins's demeanor changed. He began to have flashbacks.

Logan: Lady Mira really brought the family together, didn't she?

Collin: ....

Logan: Do you miss her?

Collin: "Sigh..." It doesn't matter. And you are right, things did change when she left.

Lucia became colder and more distant. I think something happened that I have no idea about. Something that was able to change her from the sweet sister we both know to what she is now.

Logan We need to find out what happened. I'd also like to know why Mom left. She had no reason to abandon us.

Logan: I understand. I'll help you. But where do we start from? And what about Rose?

---------------------------------------------------------

DAYS LATER

Tracy: This one suits you better.

Rose: You think so? I... I don't know if I will look good in this. Besides, it's too revealing, Tracy.

Tracy: That's nonsense. Try it on.

We are going to a party, and I don't want you looking any less than perfect for the occasion.

Rose: Do I really have to come along? I don't feel like it, Tracy.

Tracy: Uh, hello? Do you hear yourself? Are you not the same person who told me you felt bad because no one had ever invited you to a party?

Me: My thoughts exactly. You said the same thing to me, Mom.

Mom: I know, but it's just, I wasn't expecting to ever be invited, and I didn't want to make a fool of myself.

Me: That makes sense, I guess. I wouldn't want to embarrass myself either.

Tracy: I am listening to no excuses. You are coming with me whether you like it or not. Go and try the dress on.

Rose: "Sigh." Okay.

"DING"

Message from Eugene: Come outside.

Eugene sat in the back seat of a black SUV, waiting. Just then he heard a knock.

Eugene signalled the driver, and he rolled the glass down.

Tracy: What now?

Eugene: How is she?

Tracy: Are you here to ask me that? Why don't you go see for yourself?

Eugene: No need. Here, take this.

Tracy: What are those?

Eugene: Your invitation cards and dress. One for you and one for Rose.

Tracy looked at the packages and then at the cards.

Tracy: Masquerade?

Eugene: Yes.

Tracy: You didn't mention it was a masquerade.

Eugene: Is there a problem?

Tracy: Nope.

Eugene: Good.

You can go now.

Tracy: Tsk, bye.

Eugene watched her walk back into the building.

Eugene: Let's go.

Rose: Where did you go?

What are those?

Tracy: Our dresses.

Rose: But we already got dresses. See, what do you think?

Tracy: Forget about that.

Tracy didn't spare Rose a glance and focused on unwrapping the boxes containing the dresses.

Rose: But you said...

Tracy: Wooowww!!! My goodness!

Rose: What?

Tracy!! Were did you get these

Mom: To say I was shocked was an understatement. The gowns were absolutely stunning and simply out of this world.

Tracy: Mhh, I have my ways.

Mom: Tracy simply shrugged. and I was too taken in by the gowns to ask anything.

Rose: Tracy, they have our names on them.

Tracy: Huh?

Rose: See.

Tracy: How typical of him.

Rose: What did you say?

Tracy: We need to try them on. Remember, we still have to get our hair and makeup done. Oh, I'm so excited.

Rose: Are these truly real?

Tracy: Why? Should I pinch you?

Mom: Without waiting for my response, she went ahead and pinched me.

Rose: Ouch! That hurt.

Tracy: You are not dreaming. Now let's get on with it. We can't afford to waste time.

-----------------------------------------------------

Driver: Do you really trust that girl, sir?

Eugene: I don't. I just know she won't do anything stupid, at least not now.

How long before we get there?

Driver: In about 15 minutes, sir.

Eugene: Ok

Eugene sank in the back seat and closed his eyes.

Eugene: My Rose.
