Chapter 686 - Chapter 685: Hi, My Name is Peter

People are different. Green Goblin saw extraordinary powers as a gift from the heavens—but for heroes like Spider-Man, Captain America, and Superman, powers are a burden, a duty... even a curse.

For the Peter currently answering questions in the Eternal Space, the good news is that he hasn't been bitten by the spider yet. He still has the freedom to choose his own path. The bad news? No Peter Parker has ever escaped his fate. Will he be the exception?

At the moment, little Peter had stopped crying. He only felt heartache for his future self. That sorrow and despair in the video were so real, so raw—it felt like he could reach out and touch it.

Stephen spoke up, "Guess it's time for me to clean up the mess, huh?"

As his voice faded, the video on the screen froze, and a new question appeared:

[Can Peter Parker/Spider-Man recover from this blow?

A: Yes

B: No]

"I'm picking A," Pietro said immediately. "The answer has to be A. I believe in you, Peter. You're stronger than this."

Peter wiped the tears from his face, his voice still shaky. "Can I really do it, though? I've already messed up so many things…"

Stephen smiled. "Of course you can. You're Spider-Man, remember? Don't you really admire Tony? Think about it—if he were here, facing this same situation, what would he say?"

Immediately, Peter imagined Tony's smug face:

"Pfft, of course I can do it. I'm Iron Man."

Then he remembered how Tony had looked out for him in the earlier clips. Peter sniffled and nodded hard. "Alright, then I'll pick A. I believe in myself too—I can get through this!"

Meanwhile, in Team A, Erik crossed his arms and shot a cold glance at Charles. "I'm telling you, the answer's B. Peter's will isn't strong. He's too easily swayed. Green Goblin was right—he's got the power, but his heart is weak. When hit this hard, he'll crumble. He won't bounce back."

Having endured hardship from a young age, Erik had little tolerance for people with weak hearts. The only reason he respected Charles was because he saw beneath his gentle exterior—Charles had a core of steel, just like him.

But the Spider-Man in the video? Erik believed he lacked that same inner strength.

Charles shook his head. "No, Erik. We made a deal, remember? As long as I don't get an answer wrong, we go with my choice."

Logan shrugged. "I'm with Charles on this. Erik, you said yourself—we go with his picks until he's wrong."

Erik frowned but backed off. "Fine. I just want to win. But I'm picking the next one, got it?" Clearly, he thought Charles would mess up soon.

The countdown began. Both teams rushed to answer first. Team B won the buzzer, and Stephen selected A for the group.

Charles picked A as well. When the correct answer was revealed, both teams were right, and Team B earned 4 points for the buzzer win. The screen resumed the video.

In the video, Peter, overwhelmed by grief, chose to exile himself. Meanwhile, his best friend Ned and girlfriend MJ were worried sick. They couldn't reach Peter, and they still had the Box.

Watching the news, they learned that Peter's plan to cure the villains had failed. The bad guys had escaped. MJ wanted to press the button and send them back—but she hesitated. Peter had told them to wait for him.

Ned was torn too. All he wanted was to see Peter again. As he fidgeted, he started making random hand gestures—and to his shock, he opened a golden portal!

It turned out he was still wearing Stephen's Sling Ring—and somehow, Ned had a natural talent for magic.

MJ encouraged him to try again. "Try to find Peter."

Ned, still nervous, gave it another shot—and sure enough, a stable portal opened.

On the other side, someone in a Spider-Man suit stood.

MJ hesitated slightly. Something about this Spider-Man felt… off. But who else could it be?

They called out to him. The suited figure responded to the name "Peter" and stepped through. But the moment he pulled off his mask, MJ and Ned were stunned—this wasn't their Peter Parker!

Outside the screen, the audience erupted with excitement. Things were getting interesting. Were the Spider-Men about to team up?

The Spider-Man Ned accidentally summoned was none other than the third Peter—the one played by Andrew. He introduced himself, but MJ remained suspicious. She insisted he prove he was really Spider-Man.

Watching this, Stephen couldn't help but nudge the young Peter beside him and wink. "Seriously, you should learn a thing or two from your girlfriend's caution."

If Peter had been as wary with the villains, maybe things wouldn't have ended in tragedy.

Back in the video, MJ demanded proof, so Andrew's Peter climbed up the wall and crawled across the ceiling to demonstrate his powers.

MJ was finally convinced—but this still wasn't the Peter she was looking for. So she asked Ned to try again.

Ned gave it a few more tries. Suddenly, a new portal opened—behind him this time. Standing on the other side was a tired-looking middle-aged man, dressed in everyday clothes, not a Spider-Man suit.

Ned stared. "Awesome! This one's just a normal guy."

The man waved, a little shy. "Hi, I was just taking a look…"

But as he turned to leave, the portal snapped shut.

There was no doubt—this unassuming guy was also named Peter Parker. He was the first Spider-Man—the one played by Tobey.

Seeing these two Spider-Men from different universes standing together, the audience outside the screen gasped in awe. The quiz game had thrown all the worlds into chaos, but witnessing this future scene was still deeply moving.

Especially for Spider-Man fans—they shouted at the screen, urging the two veteran Spider-Men to step forward and guide the younger Peter, to help him grow and find his way.
