Chapter 10 - What Now?

"Congratulations on your new Title, Wilson Weeks!"

"What the f— did just happen to me?"

"You got the full download of Babylon at its current iteration and got a title in the process."

"And the title basically said I got smarter, but I still feel stupid. I should have chosen to keep my stats!"

"You can only choose one, unfortunately."

"And I chose badly. I want a refund!"

"That is not in the scope of my operations, Wilson Weeks."

"I should get out of here. I don't feel good." Wilson felt defeated.

Exiting out of the capsule, he was surprised to see that barely 30 minutes had passed. He lived a seemingly endless amount of multiple lives and it was only 30 minutes in the 4th dimension! What a sham.

A change did happen to Wilson, although he underplays it, the experience he got from living an unknowable number of multiple lives gave him an extreme amount of life experience and he now possesses an instinct that can't be reached by any being who just lived one life. He did really get smart as he said but he gained something more than trivial intelligence, it was survivability and cunning and efficient decision making.

He went out and found Ginge sipping some hot liquid on the front porch of her house and he immediately called to her. "I have some news for you Ginge. I'm smart now."

"What nonsense are you talking about, human?"

"I entered the simulation room and learned a lot of things."

"Good for you."

"I think you killed me in one of the 3D projections of another world in this dimension."

"Wow, so what now? Are you going to kill me here?"

"No, we have to prepare for the coming storm. I need to be stronger. You should too."

"Okay."

Wilson felt like he wasn't getting his message across so he went to look for Fabian.

"Fabian, I'm ready to learn a lot of things, let me go to my tutors."

"As you wish, prince. I'll call them to come here."

"No, I want to go to them."

"If you say so, which tutor would you want to visit first?"

"Is there a tutor that can make me learn how to be an elemental technomage?"

"You need multiple tutors for that. It would be best if we visit the university."

"Let's do that."

Wilson and Fabian headed to the university. It was far from the city proper so they had to take a flying car to get there. Wilson's first flying car experience made him elated.

"Flying cars are cool." Wilson said.

"The Conley Grand Empire spared no expense in keeping Pevia updated with all the latest technology available in the 4th dimension. We thank your family from the bottom of our hearts, prince."

"Oh right, you're welcome, Fabian."

After around 45 minutes of travel, they finally reached their destination, Pevia University. It was a looming, grey-colored set of buildings that showed the design of old Pevia. Lots of rigid, geometric shapes and solid-looking facades. It was a testament to the stern quality of when Pevia used to be, as opposed to its now playful and vibrant quality.

"Here we are at Pevia University, prince. Pardon the sudden greyness of the area as it is one of the few places where the old heritage of Pevia is still being kept."

"No worries, I kind of like it, honestly." Wilson remembered the brutalist buildings he normally sees when he visited the metropolis back in his real life. The designs gave the expression that serious things were being done in these places.

As they entered the premises, Wilson noticed that there were few youths in this university. The place was filled with middle-aged beings and there were only a few handfuls who looked the same age as him or younger.

"Why are there not many young people here?"

"Prince, the university is a place for higher learning, only beings who seriously wanted to learn something are encouraged to be here, and usually it's when you've reached a certain maturity that one decides to take up advanced education. There are other schools designed for younger minds and they offer the same standard of education, but just specifically catered for the youth."

"I see. I guess I fit the bill to be in here then."

"You certainly do, prince."

Wilson checked out the whole place and he saw various students and teachers doing remarkable things. Some were casting magic spells, others were training with robots, and there were beings who seem to practice what Wilson can only think of as 'dimensional art' (it involved creating portals). Right there and then, Wilson believed that what he had in mind can be executed here and he was looking forward to growing his skills and mastering them here at Pevia University.

"Let us visit the president of the university so that they can prepare for your education, prince."

"Okay."

Fabian asked one of the students where the president's office is, and the student was kind enough to lead them to the office. They entered the smallest building on the southwest corner of the university and they saw a garden that was so mystical you can only describe it as something coming out of a fantasy. It contained small trees like bonsais carefully designed to look like a small forest and the pond in the middle of it looked like a lake when considering the size of the small trees surrounding it. There was also a small fire burning atop a small pagoda-like sculpture that made it look like a sun of some sort. It was a first for Wilson to see such an intricately designed garden and he gave it a high evaluation. They passed the garden and saw a small hut with an opening that makes the interior of the hut visible to the beings outside and inside they saw a beastman (rabbitman) sipping tea and fanning himself.

"There's our president." the student said.

"Thank you for leading us here, kid." Fabian kindly replied.

"I'll take my leave now, see you around."

Wilson and Fabian walked near the hut and noticed the president stop drinking his tea and fanning himself.

"I see new faces. What's your reason for visiting my humble hut?"

"Good day, president. My name is Fabian Miranda, an employee of Pevia City Hall. I am here with Prince Hester Stewart Conley of the Conley Grand Empire and we come to you on official business concerning the prince's education here at Pevia University."

"I remember that the tutors will go to his residence, has that arrangement been changed?"

"Yes sir, the prince insisted on learning on the premises of the tutors and so we are here."

"I see. Then I welcome you to our Pevia University. Pardon my manners, do you want some tea?"

"We're good, sir."

"Uhm, I actually want some of that tea, if you don't mind." Wilson said.

The president was surprised, he didn't expect that they would really take him on his offer. "This prince seems like an interesting fellow." the president thought.

"I am called Hong Murillo. If you have anything that you need help with, feel free to visit me anytime, prince Hester. Here is your tea." president Hong took a cup and filled it with tea, then handed it to Wilson.

"Thank you. I liked your garden very much."

"Oh ho! You have good eyes. It was a new addition, a small ecosystem. It symbolizes this great 3D projection of a world in the 4th dimension."

"It really looks like a small world. But why aren't there animals or any other living being?"

"Haha, you seem to be inexperienced, prince Hester. That garden is full of spirits. Anyway, what exactly did you want to learn here at our university?"

"I want to be an elemental technomage."

"An elemental technomage is it? You will not have a difficult time finding tutors as we already have a program that nurtures future technomages, and being elemental is just a small modification in the program. If you ask me, learning about spirits would help you improve your affinity with the elements. Come visit the garden from time to time to meditate about the mysteries of nature."

"I will, thank you, president Hong!"

"You will find the magic and technology department in the Briximmy Building on the eastern side of the university. There you will find your tutors Norma Hendrix, an arcane mage, Darrel Park, a magic mechanic, and Dawn Cohen, a technomage. They will guide you on your journey to becoming an elemental technomage. Oh, I'll also call for Dionne Solomon, an elementalist, to hybridize your technomage program. I hope you will find your study here at Pevia University worthwhile.

"Alright, thank you again, president!" Wilson was excited.

They went outside the hut and began walking to the eastern side of the building.

"Fabian, I think it would be fine if you take your leave here, I will be able to find my way from here. Thank you for all the assistance you gave me so far. I will call you if I need anything."

"Very well prince. I hope you enjoy your studies here at Pevia University. I'll be one call away if you need me."

"See you Fabian."

"See you prince."

Wilson walked to a tall, grey building that looked to be 11 stories high. On the 8th floor, an explosion happened and he saw smoke coming out of the window.

"Briximmy Building. Looks wild."
