Chapter 14 - Radio Training

Emma Frost stood by the window, looking out over Las Vegas, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts. I watched her for a moment, knowing exactly what she was going through—her determination, her frustration, and most of all, her need for control.

I crossed the room toward her, making sure the tone of my voice was steady.

"Your powers... you haven't even begun to understand what you're capable of," I said, standing beside her. "And I can help you harness them."

She turned her head, her gaze sharp. "How?"

"Training," I replied simply. "You need a proper way to train your powers. A method to control your abilities. They're not just about mind-reading or illusions. You have the potential to manipulate the mind of anyone and mold it in any shape or form you desire. I can teach you to control them—not just to block out others, but to amplify your own presence, your power."

She raised an eyebrow, skeptical but curious. "And you know this how?"

I smiled, [Personal Mind Manipulation] gives me all the knowledge related to gaining control over the user's own mind.

"I have experience. I've read techniques that allow for advanced mental manipulation, training methods that'll give you the control you seek. I have applied those techniques. That's why you cannot read my mind."

"We'll start simple and build from there."

Emma took a sip from her glass, contemplating my words. "So, what's the first step?"

I motioned toward the center of the room, where a plush carpet lay beneath a small, sleek table. "Sit down. Relax. Let's begin with the basics."

She set her drink aside, standing still for a moment, before settling onto the floor, crossing her legs. Her posture was poised, but her eyes betrayed her uncertainty.

"First, close your eyes," I instructed, "and breathe deeply. In and out. Focus on your breathing."

She did as I asked, though I could see the concentration on her face.

"Now, I want you to focus on the voices around you," I continued. "The static, the thoughts that aren't yours. The chatter you've always heard but never understood. You need to control the volume."

Emma's lips parted slightly, and I knew she was already testing the waters. I could feel her telepathy expanding outward, brushing against the edges of my consciousness, but I remained unaffected.

"Picture the voices as a radio," I said, drawing on my understanding of mental focus from all those novels I read in my past life. "Each voice is a frequency. Your power isn't just about hearing them. It's about filtering them, tuning in or out, amplifying or muting them. Imagine a dial, and start turning it."

Her breath deepened, and her body shuddered a bit, I felt the air shift. She was visualizing it—focusing her mind like a fine-tuned instrument.

"Good," I encouraged. "Now, with each turn of the dial, you can increase or decrease the intensity of what you hear. At first, it'll be chaotic, but that's fine. You need to understand the chaos before you can control it."

Emma's brow furrowed as she strained to focus. I could feel her attempting to grasp something intangible. But that was the key: understanding the difference between control and chaos.

I sat down beside her, my presence grounding her focus. "You've felt it, right? That split-second clarity? When you can almost shut everything out, when you can push back against the noise?"

Her eyes fluttered open slightly. "Yeah," she whispered.

"That's your first step," I said. "You're tuning your mind to its optimal frequency. Once you control that—once you can lock onto your own thoughts and block out distractions—you can control more than just the voices. You can shape perceptions. Influence thoughts. You can even create illusions or mental barriers. And if you gain good enough control then you can even become invisible to those around you just by using your mind"

Emma's lips parted in surprise. "Is that what you can do?"

I nodded, [Personal Mind Manipulation] let's me do much more than that. "More than that. I can manipulate memories, structure my mind however I want. But it takes training—consistency."

She was silent for a moment, then leaned back slightly, eyes unfocused as she began turning the "dial" in her mind again. I could sense the shift, her control growing stronger.

"You're doing well," I said, impressed by her progress. "Keep going. Imagine now that you're not just controlling the volume—you're controlling the frequency itself. Every voice is a signal you can intercept. You choose who to listen to and who to ignore."

I could feel her mental presence becoming more defined, more deliberate. This wasn't just about blocking out the noise—it was about honing her power, about understanding the limits and expanding them.

I watched her for a while, allowing her the space to practice. The process wasn't quick, but every small breakthrough was a victory. The tension in her body slowly unraveled as she concentrated, her powers responding to her intent.

Finally, after a long stretch of silence, Emma opened her eyes again, her gaze more focused than before.

"I think I get it," she said softly. "But… this is just the beginning, right?"

I smiled, standing up and offering her a hand to help her to her feet. "Yes. We've only scratched the surface. But you're on the right path. With time, you'll be able to control not just the external voices—but the internal ones, too. Your emotions, your instincts, everything."

Emma's eyes were sharp, focused now in a way they hadn't been before. "And then…?"

"Then, I'll teach you how to make your power your own," I replied. "Control is freedom, Emma. And once you have control, you can take anything you want. Even the Frost legacy."

She nodded, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "I'll be ready."

And I knew she would be.
