Chapter 236 - Chapter 236

"What!" Maria was so shocked that she had to stand up. Williams was confused and shocked at the same time. Grace rolled her eyes, she has no idea why her brother had to go through this means. She immediately twisted her face in disgust. The fact that she hates this makes the acting even easier.

"What nonsense are you saying? Why will you marry Angel? Brother, have you forgotten all she did to you? I won't allow this to happen besides what happens to Jane. Did you forget you engaged her? And the kids, what are we going to say to them both?" Grace spoke agitated. If she pretended to go along with this. They will be suspicious of them.

Chris smiled, he's impressed with his sister's acting skill. He just needs to put in the act as well to make it more believeable.

"I understand what you are getting at, but this is the right thing to do, Grace. I'm not just doing this for the company and our reputation, but for Jane as well." Chris stated.

"Exactly my point. We must think of my grandchild in all of these." Maria said, and Angel, who just sat there trying to process everything she just heard, stood up and headed to where Chris sat.

"I knew you were going to come to your senses and come back to me. That tramp isn't worth your time, I'm the one you love, Chris." Angel said and nestled herself in Chris's arms.

Chris didn't know how to react at first. He felt like pushing her off. The only person allowed to be this close to him is Jane. He felt disgusted but needed to play along with it.

"Hmmm!" That was all he could bring himself to say.

"Son you don't have to do this. If you don't want to marry Angel, you don't have to force yourself. This won't affect the company in any way if that's what you are so worried about. And I want you to know I'm in full support of you marrying Jane." William said, and Maria frowned.

"What are you even saying. You would allow our son to marry that cheap maid? She's not worthy of being in our family." Maria retorted.

"If everyone thought the same thing, you would not have been my wife." William retorted back, and Maria's eyes widened with shock.

"What!" She muttered in shock. She can't believe he would humiliate her like that, just to be able to defend a common maid.

"Son, you are free to follow your heart. You don't have to make the same mistakes I made." William said. He didn't plan on saying that, but he couldn't seem to stop himself. If only he had chosen differently and fought for the woman he loved, things would have turned out differently for all of them.

"It's fine, dad, you don't have to argue over nothing. I will marry Angel, mom. I trust you to handle the preparations for the engagement party." Chris said, and William stood up from his chair. He suddenly lost his appetite.

"Dad!" Chris called out.

"Leave him alone. He can do whatever he pleases. Right now, we have something more important at hand." Maria said, and Angel giggled. This is the best thing that has happened to her in a really long time. All her plans and effort are not in vain, after all.

"You should get me a ring, Chris. I want a diamond." Angel demanded, and Grace could no longer stand her cheekiness.

"I'm out of here," Grace slammed her fist on the table and walked away. Chris was tired of the show, so he just pushed Angel away slightly and put on a smile.

"You don't have to worry about either of them. My son has agreed to marry you. It's going to be a long week." Maria said, and Chris chuckled.

"I will be in my room, I have quite a number of things to do tomorrow. Excuse me." Chris said and walked out of the dining hall.

"Mother did you hear that? He said he's going to marry me. We should start preparing as much as we can. My wedding is going to be the best ever witnessed." Angel giggled happily.

"How many times do I have to tell you not to address me as that? Have you totally gone mad? Don't you dare think you are something simply because you are marrying my son. I don't like you, and I never will, cut the act." Maria sneered and walked out as well.

"What the hell is wrong with her? I'm going to be the lady of this house very soon, I will get rid of her any chance I get." Angel said to herself. She couldn't contain the excitement, so she hurried into the room and called her father.

"Dad guess what? We are finally going to get everything we have always wanted. Chris has agreed to marry me. I have no idea what Maria said or did, but it certainly worked. You should come here tomorrow, and speak with Maria, we must hurry with the party. I don't want him changing his mind. You know Chris can be." Angel communicated her concerns.

"You have nothing to worry about, I will be there tomorrow. This is good news, we should celebrate." Jonas laughed out.

"Sure dad," Angel agreed and dropped the call.

Back in Chris's room, he came out of the bathroom and brought out his phone. He put a call through to Jane, and he would like to speak to her.

"Hey my love!" Jane said over the phone, and Chris smiled warmly.

"I like the sound of that, call me that from now henceforth. I miss you terribly and can't wait to see you again." Chris said.

"Same here, I miss you, my love." Jane confessed, unable to hide her feelings.

"Jane there's something I need to tell you." Chris said, sounding serious.

"I don't like the sound of that. You are scaring me. Why sound serious all of a sudden?" Jane asked with a hint of worry evident in her tone.

"It's nothing serious. It's just that I'm planning something, and I don't want you to be in the dark of it all." Chris began
