Chris saw the scene and was very unpleased. He became agitated and without thinking he snatched Jane's hand away from Zain's hand and sat beside her. Jane belongs to him and he would not allow any other person to take her away from him.
"Are you okay?" Chris asked Jane and she nodded, she didn't approve of what he just done but she understood that he was just jealous.
Zain felt bad and angry but he didn't dare to show his anger besides he knew already that Jane didn't love him, even though he loved her very much.
"Where were you?" Jane asked and Chris wrapped his hands around her, he needed to show Zain that he couldn't have her.
Grace shook her head at her brother's childishness, she didn't think he would act that way towards the poor boy. But she does understand him, he's only marking his territory.
"I went in search of that newsroom that has been spreading fake news about me being engaged to Angel. It so happens that the reporters just stumbled on it while checking out a sight.
But I already asked that Jack check and make sure to find out who is behind all of it.
"Do you have any idea of who might have done it?" Grace asked and he shook his head.
"I have no idea but it better not be Angel if not her days are numbered in that house," Chris said.
"I do think she's the one, if not how did the pictures of you both get to the blogger? Someone must have given it to him right?" Grace said and what she said was making a lot of sense.
"Why didn't I think of that?" Chris asked.
"But if Angel was with you in that picture, who took it?" Jane said she has been thinking about it as well. There is something fishy going on.
"That is not for us to think about right now, I want you to close your eyes, Jane. I have a surprise for you." Chris said and everyone in the room became quiet, they had no idea what it was all about.
"What is that Chris?" Jane asked.
"It's no longer a surprise if I tell you now, close your eyes," he said and she had no choice but to oblige to what he said. She covered her eyes with her hands.
Jane kept thinking of what it could be but, no matter how she thought about it. She can't seem to make a correct guess.
"You can open your eyes now," he said, Jane opened her eyes and the scene before her was mind-blowing.
She could see everyone grinning ear to ear, especially Miss Grace.
"What are you doing Chris? Is this some kind of joke?" she asked him.
Chris was right in front of her with a ring in his hand, he was kneeling like those men she would usually see in the movies she always watched.
She always dreamed that she was those women in that dream, and now the dream seems to be coming to pass.
"Listen to me carefully Jane. Ever since you came into my life, you have been my shining light and strength. I never thought I would love any woman again, not even my maid." Chris began to say.
"But like they always say. We find love in the most unexpected places and with you Jane I have found love. You know the crazy part? I'm not afraid to express my love." Chris said and Jane was already shedding tears. She cannot contain the joy that she feels right now.
"I'm not afraid to shout to the world that I love you, Jane, I love you so much, I love you crazy. Your love has made me free from the burden I've been carrying all of these years, thanks for coming into my life and showing me how to love and be alive again." Chris concluded.
"Jane, will you marry me?" he popped the big question and Jane didn't know what to say. She's just speechless.
Come on Jane say yes" Grace screamed.
Jane looked at Mrs Whitney who was also crying and nodding for her to say yes, is this real? she thought to herself.
"Yes," she finally said and, Chris took her lips and made it his.
Everyone in the ward where rejoicing and celebrating. Grace felt so happy for her brother and Jane, this is the best thing that has happened to her in recent times.
Mike looked at her and she happened to look at him as well.
"I love you." he mouthed to her silently and she giggled, he's such a naughty person.
Mike cannot wait to also do the same thing to her, all in due time he thought.
Zain already found his way out of the ward, he would have loved to stay and congratulate Jane but he couldn't do it, the hurt he felt in his heart was too extreme and he needed to take the pain all out.
He didn't feel like going home yet he had no idea where to go to. Chris looked around and saw that Zain was not there, something came into his mind.
"Jane, I will be right back," he said and left the ward in a hurry.
"Ooohh, let me see your ring." Grace giggled and quickly sat on the bed with her.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Grace said and Jane nodded, she still couldn't get over what just happened. She still has a lot of doubts, especially as regards whether his Mom will accept or not.
But she would rather live in the moment and forget every other thing. Her son will be so happy.
"You are going to have the biggest wedding of the century," Grace said.
"Oh, Miss Grace stop exaggerating," Jane said.
"You will soon be my sister-in-law so it's Grace to you henceforth," she said and they all laughed.
"Zain!!" Zain heard his name from a familiar voice so he looked back but to his surprise, it was Mr Chris.
