Ruan Guangjian immediately put down all of his tasks and started working on sketches for Literary Genius of the Winds, Ruan.
Since the general concept was already complete, various ideas popped up rapidly in Ruan Guangjian's mind. He wanted to grasp them quickly. His pen moved quickly across the screen. In less than two hours, the hero's sketches were complete.
Although it would take him a few more days to add in all the details, the simple sketches were enough to display the hero's special characteristics. His confidence and easy-going nature were almost jumping out of the pages. The front view of the concept art depicted the Literary Genius of the Winds, Ruan blowing a pipe among bamboo trees. His huge brush and wine gourd were floating in the air around him thanks to the raging winds.
The background was filled with tall mountains and white clouds, which were painted in ink. It complemented the Literary Genius of the Wind's ancient Chinese knight-errant costume.
Of course, accurately put, Ruan was not wearing a standard knight-errant costume. Instead, his costume contained a hint of ancient literary geniuses in its long sleeves. That blended the refined and well-read nature of a scholar with the heroism and chivalry of a knight perfectly. Both characteristics came together extremely well.
Behind Ruan, one could spot the back view of Modest. That hinted at the close friendship between both heroes.
Ruan Guangjian scanned his sketches, made some edits to the details and the arrangement of the pages, and then handed the sketches up to Min Jingchao.
When the officials announced the overall results, they would publish those sketches and the heroes' designs.
At Fish-Catching Internet Cafe…
Pei Qian finished his coffee and then closed his little notebook. After working for the entire afternoon, he finally finished another huge portion of the mind map of the inter-departmental relationships.
However, there seemed to be a little too many lines. Pei Qian was getting dizzy trying to track them all.
"No matter. I just have to work hard to organize this and revise it from time to time. It'll be effective. If it can help me avoid at least one stab in the back, the mind map would not be useless."
Pei Qian uploaded his mind map and deleted his original document. Then, he handed his laptop back to the waiter for safekeeping and prepared to go home
le
ers
Out of habit, he opened GOG's forum and browsed it. All of a sudden, he received a pleasant surprise. His post had been selected by the officials! Only twenty minutes had passed, but gamers were already starting to exhibit sour grapes. Obviously, now that two heroes had been selected, gamers were beginning to get green with envy. At the same time, they became more passionate about participating.
Pei Qian was overjoyed. Min Jingchao had good taste! He could tell that the hero's skill mechanisms were not bad, and so he accepted it quickly.
Pei Qian wondered what kind of outer appearance Min Jingchao intended to give this new hero. He scrolled to the main text of the post and read it carefully.
After reading the hero's name, background story, and skills description and after seeing the concept art sketches, Pei Qian fell silent. He looked at his cell phone screen for a long time without saying a single word.
This was really messed up! For no reason, Yasuo had been linked to Ruan Guangjian again!
What's more, Ruan Guangjian had obviously done it for selfish gain. Otherwise, why would he have made the Literary Genius of the Winds, Ruan look so handsome and the Coin-Scattering Hedgehog Modest look like a character out of a comedy?!
The most sadistic thing was that both heroes had appeared in the concept art sketches for the Literary Genius of the Winds. The contrast was made even more obvious!
Pei Qian could even imagine the narcissistic look on Ruan Guangjian's face as he made the sketches.
On top of all that, what was up with Ruan being a good friend of Modest?!
Who's your good friend? Stop trying to get close to me!
Pei Qian was at a loss for words. How could Ruan Guangjian constantly cause mental harm to Boss Pei without even trying? What's more, for some reason, he could completely dodge Boss Pei's attempts at revenge. Could he be Boss Pei's legendary natural enemy? Pei Qian was furious, but the officials had already accepted his idea. Moreover, he was already entitled to a five-percent share of profits from the sale of all of Ruan's skins. Now, it no longer mattered whether the hero was Yasuo or a certain artist.
When Pei Qian exited from the post, he discovered that he had received a private message on his account. The topic was 'Thank you very much, Boss Pei!'
Pei Qian: "?"
It seemed to be from Min Jingchao's account.
He quickly opened the private message and read it.
"Boss Pei, I appreciate your earnest care and hard work. Don't worry, Big Boss Ruan and I will keep this hero a secret for you. I'll deal with this in the same way as I would if you were an ordinary gamer.
"I know that, to you, a five-percent share of the profits would mean nothing. You probably are more concerned about whether GOG would emerge victorious over IOI or not in the long-term and about your friendship with Big Boss Ruan…"
At that point, Pei Qian's heart thudded.
Holy sh*t, what does this mean? Are you not giving me the five percent share of the profits?!
I'm not interested in the other two things you mentioned. If you dare to keep the five percent from me, I'll immediately throw you to Africa's wilderness so that you can play with the giraffes! I'll satisfy your lust for competition!
Pei Qian quickly continued reading.
"However, rules are rules. As one of the gamers who have proposed this idea, you are entitled to the five-percent share of profits. I know you don't need it, but I have to keep strictly to the rules and transfer those profits to your account. Please don't take this to heart."
Pei Qian paused and then became elated.
Good! You've done the right thing, boy! You're very upright! Pei Qian had been so close to asking Assistant Xin to book a one-way flight to Africa. However, after reading that paragraph, Pei Qian realized that he had wronged Min Jingchao.
At first, Pei Qian had intended to sort things out with Min Jingchao for adding so much of his own imagination to Pei Qian's plan and turning the hero into Ruan Guangjian. Yet, he gave up the thought in the end. It did not matter how the hero looked as long as he got the five-percent share of the profits! "Very good. Min Jingchao, as long as you remain in Tengda Games, I'll make sure you prosper. I won't let you get eliminated by the first-place elimination system! Even if you start generating profits for the company, I won't blame you!"
After giving Min Jingchao immunity in his heart, Pei Qian was put in a good mood. He hummed as he walked out of the cafe. However, the moment he walked out of the door, he bumped into Ruan Guangjian. The latter was tired from a full day of work and had just left his office for a stroll.
Pei Qian smiled and nodded at Ruan Guangjian to greet him.
Ruan Guangjian nodded in response.
Watching Boss Pei's back view, Ruan Guangjian fell into deep thought. "Based on the time, Boss Pei should have already seen the concept art sketches, right? "He looks so happy.
"It's a pleasure to be able to pull Boss Pei out of the darkness that Tomorrow is Beautiful's overseas premiere had put him in with a single drawing!"
Ruan Guangjian began humming as he started his stroll as well.
May 11th, Wednesday…
At Deposit Fitness' Handong University branch…
"Bye-bye, Coach Yaling!"
A group of people who looked like students waved at Li Yaling as they said goodbye and left Deposit Fitness.
Li Yaling smiled and waved back. She only turned around and returned to the gym when the group disappeared. She sat down in the resting area, whipped out her cell phone, and browsed the webpage.
"Coach Yaling, you've brought a lot of new students to the gym recently. You're holding up half of the fort on your own. How amazing!" Another coach praised her.
Li Yaling smiled and replied humbly, "Coach Miao, you're teasing me again. I wouldn't dare say I'm holding up half of the fort. People are just very supportive." Coach Yaling reached out for a banana from the snack area. She ate it as she said, "Coach Yaling, you're too humble. That's right, our gym has been expanding rapidly.
"Coach Yaling, you're so much better than the rest of us. Boss Pei must be planning to make you a branch manager of one of the branches, right?"
Li Yaling shook her head. "I'm not interested in being a branch manager. I'll have so much to manage; it'll be very troublesome. I just want to be an ordinary trainer who teaches others how to build muscle.
"Eh, I think the Cannes Film Festival is starting today."
Coach Miao tossed her banana peel into the trash. "Cannes Film Festival? I'm not interested. There will only be literary films by foreigners, and they have nothing to do with
us."
Li Yaling nodded. "That's right, I didn't pay attention to it before either, but Tomorrow is Beautiful is participating this year. I wonder if it'll win an award."
Coach Miao continued to look uninterested. "I don't think it has a chance. The foreigners judge films based on their own set of criteria.
"There's a huge cultural difference between us. We're going to their turf and competing based on their rules without being able to do anything else. What's the point?
"Tomorrow is Beautiful is popular in the country anyway. That proves it's a good film. Why do we need validation from foreigners?"
Li Yaling laughed. "You have a point, but what if…? Good stuff will be appreciated everywhere."
That was where the conversation between them ended. Li Yaling stood up to move around. She was prepared to train her own body now that there were fewer people in the gym.
However, once she stood up, she saw the girl at the front desk stand at the same time. "Boss Pei, you're here."
Li Yaling turned to see Boss Pet sauntering through the entrance of the gym. He was looking around as if searching for something.
When he saw Li Yaling, his eyes lit up.
Found her!
"Coach Yaling, I have something to ask you." Li Yaling was stunned. "Boss Pei, you're not going to make me a branch manager, are you?"
Pei Qian almost became livid when he heard this.
What are you thinking?! You're so dangerous. How can you manage one of my branches?!
Dream on!
Pei Qian shook his head and said, "No, let's sit down."
When Li Yaling heard that she was not going to be made a branch manager, she became confused. Apart from that, what else was there?
They sat down at the resting area, and the girl at the front desk served them two cups of water.
Pei Qian took two sips but put it down because it was tasteless.
"Actually, I came to ask if you are willing to work purely as a trainer in charge of training ten athletes. I must make clear that this is an arduous task, which requires an extremely knowledgeable and professional person. Conversely, I would remunerate you generously.
"As long as you are willing to take it up, you can make any requests to me during the entire training process. I will try my best to satisfy every single one of them."
When Li Yaling heard this, her eyes lit up. It sounded like an interesting and challenging task!
Chapter 516 Fully-Automated Bickering Machine, Manufacture!
Li Yaling was not interested in becoming a branch manager to begin with. She enjoyed being a trainer much more. Li Yaling liked everything about the job: building her own muscles, teaching others, forging relationships with customers, and helping them to train better.
Now, Boss Pei's suggestion seemed pretty good! She would be an exclusive trainer, in charge of ten athletes. What's more, top-notch knowledge and professionalism were required. She fit the job perfectly!
On top of that, Boss Pei had promised a pay increase, and to fulfill all of her requests during the training process.
That was every trainer's ultimate dream!
Li Yaling immediately nodded. "No problem, Boss Pei. I'll finish the task for sure!"
Pei Qian nodded, smiling. "Excellent. I'll give you two days to tidy up your work in the gym. I'll look for you here on Saturday, and we'll go to the training base together." Li Yaling was overjoyed. "Alright, Boss Pei! I'll finish all my work before Saturday!"
Although Deposit Fitness did not offer one-on-one training, many students came for Li Yaling. Naturally, she would have to notify everyone if she was leaving.
Additionally, the schedules of Deposit Fitness' trainers had already been set. If Li Yaling was leaving, the schedules had to be rearranged, and she needed at least two days to hand over her slots.
Pei Qian stood up to leave, feeling overjoyed. Done!
He had gotten rid of a safety hazard in Deposit Fitness and found a new coach for DGE's team. He had killed two birds with one stone and achieved double the happiness!
Of course, Pei Qian knew full well what would happen when he brought Li Yaling to DGE Esports Club's training ground on Saturday. Everyone would look deeply confused.
Li Yaling was hoping to see a group of well-built professional athletes, but she would be met with a group of skinny and young internet addicts.
On the other hand, the young internet addicts were hoping to see a professional esports coach, but they would be met with a female instructor who looked like she could kill a bull with a single punch.
There would be a mismatch of demands.
Still, to Pei Qian, all coaches were the same. Training the body was the same as training the hand. There was no difference. What's more, given the standard of local coaches at the moment, Li Yaling would probably not be worse off than all of them.
It was just like the stock market. Sometimes, even without buying a single stock, one could be doing better than seventy percent of the people in the stock market.
All in all, this was a perfect plan. He was making the best use of all of his resources.
Pei Qian could not help but feel emotional. He was a genius!
May 12th, Thursday...
Pei Qian was lazing around in his bed when his cell phone rang. He lazily opened his eyes and grabbed his cell phone to take a look. In his heart, he wondered who was calling him so early in the morning, at 11 AM... Looking at his cell phone display, he noticed that it was Ma Yang. He immediately perked up and became wide awake.
Did Old Ma cause another mess for me to clean up again?
Ma Yang was now one of the people whom Pei Qian had to keep a close eye on. Of course, he did not dare to ignore this phone call.
"Hello? Brother Qian! I'm working at Dream Realization Ventures now. We've made great progress!" Ma Yang sounded extremely excited over the phone.
Pei Qian immediately felt like he was facing a great enemy.
Before this, Pei Qian had plotted to trap Ma Yang at DGE Esports Club. Pei Qian had intended to keep him engrossed in playing games every day so that he could forget about the investment business.
However, the reckless idiots at DGE had not restrained themselves a while ago when they were playing with Ma Yang. They caused the latter to lose 0-28 in their very first match, causing Ma Yang to instantly be rid of his internet addiction.
That was why Ma Yang finally returned to take care of investments.
Pei Qian sat up on his bed. "Yes, tell me about it."
Ma Yang excitedly said, "Brother Qian, you told me to look for the projects with the biggest dreams, right? I've searched for a long time and finally found something!"
This piqued Pei Qian's interest. "Oh? How big is the dream?"
Ma Yang answered, "It's as big as you can imagine, Brother Qian! The dream is through the roof!"
Pei Qian's eyes lit up. Could Ma Yang have achieved something great for Pei Qian once again?
Yet, what Ma Yang said immediately dashed Pei Qian's hopes and dreams.
"Brother Qian, on top of that, guess whose plan is full of dreams? It's our old friend, Zhang Wang's!
"This project is especially reliable, isn't it? It is full of dreams, and it was done by an old friend who had achieved success before. It's perfect! Brother Qian, come to the office quickly to see the proposal!"
Pei Qian: "..."
Zhang Wang... Wasn't he the man who came up with the shared phone booths?
I haven't even settled scores with him, and yet he still has the cheek to approach me?
Zhang Wang had used a fake proposal to gain Boss Pei's trust with the shared phone booths back then. After that, he had quietly given the shared phone booths a complete makeover. Now, the shared phone booths had been set up in major shopping malls all over the country. Ruan Guangjian had even personally decorated the shared phone booths in Jingzhou with GOG heroes. They had become mini paradises for customers to swipe their cards.
We have such a deep feud, and you still want to take more money from me?
Go to hell!
Pei Qian felt the urge to hang up at once. "No way."
Ma Yang was stunned. "Brother Qian, you haven't even heard the name of the project. Don't be so eager to turn it down. Let me tell you—this project is very interesting. "Zhang Wang has even brought a prototype over. I've been playing with it for more than half an hour! I can't stop! I think I could go on for three days and nights!"
Pei Qian was deeply confused.
A prototype? Ma Yang had been playing with it for more than half an hour?
What the h*ll was that?
"Alright, tell me the name of the project." Pei Qian was finally loosening up. Ma Yang said, "A Fully-Automated Bickering Machine."
Pei Qian: "What?"
"A Fully-Automated Bickering Machine," repeated Ma Yang. "What is that?"
Ma Yang sniggered. "See, Brother Qian? I told you that you would be interested. Come, quickly. I can't describe how fun this is using language alone!"
Pei Qian jumped out of his bed at once. "Alright, wait for me. I'll be right there!
Half an hour later, Pei Qian arrived at Dream Realization Ventures. He Desheng and the others were already there. When he saw Boss Pei arrive, Zhang Wang immediately stood up and shook hands with him, greeting him warmly.
"Boss Pei! Thank you for coming to look at my new project despite being so busy!" Pei Qian remembered the first time that he met Zhang Wang. It was January, and the temperature had been in the negatives at the time.
Zhang Wang had been wearing a thin, black sweater and jeans. One could see his muscles bulging, and his long hair had been tied up in a ponytail behind his head, causing him to look every bit the artist.
Yet, today, Zhang Wang looked completely different.
His long, flowy hair was still the same, but he was no longer wearing the same clothes. Instead, he was dressed in a branded T-shirt and jeans. Now, his clothes looked tens of times more expensive than when Pei Qian had first met him.
Of course, his transcendent and refined aura remained the same.
On further thought, this made sense. Zhang Wang had already achieved financial freedom with his shared phone booths alone...
Everyone naturally had a different understanding of financial freedom. Zhang Wang was the type who did not bother much about enjoyment, and so he had lower standards than most people.
Still, no matter what, the money he had earned from the shared phone booths were enough for him not to worry about or work for his living expenses anymore.
Pei Qian did not want to talk to him at all. He patronizingly shook his hand and asked, "Where is it?"
Ma Yang raised his hand and said, "Brother Qian, it's this thing on the conference table!" Pei Qian sat down by the conference table and saw a black, square box on it. There was nothing on the box but a neat row of stainless steel small rods. It looked just like the see-saws that one often saw in kindergarten.
Ma Yang shifted the box so that its front faced Pei Qian.
From where Pei Qian was sitting, the lowered seats of all the see-saws were closer to him. The part where the little rods met the boxwhich was the side of the box facing him-was indented and made especially smooth, probably for ease of moving the little rods.
From the top view, one could see that the little see-saw rods only occupied one half of the top of the box. There was a subtle line in the middle of the top of the box, which seemed to split it into half.
Pei Qian was slightly confused. What was that?
Ma Yang said, "Brother Qian, lift up that rod, quickly!"
Pei Qian reached out his finger towards the bottom of one lowered see-saw rod, his finger just touching the smooth, indented part of the box. The metal rod felt smooth, ice-cold, and round—they were nice to the touch.
Pei Qian moved his finger upwards and heard a 'tap'. The stainless steel rod moved like see-saws and the other side became lowered.
Pei Qian was just going to ask what was next, but the cover of the box opened automatically. A small, Y-shaped, black, metal rod rose up from inside the box; lifting the lowered portions of the other steel rod.
There was another soft tap. The steel rod was now back in its original position, which it had been in before Pei Qian did anything. After that, the small, Y-shaped, black, metal rod retracted back into the box, which then closed on its own.
Everything was back to its original state.
Pei Qian: "?"
He lifted another rod, but the exact same thing happened. The box opened, a Y-shaped, black, metal rod rose up from the corresponding position and pushed the other end of the rod back up.
Pei Qian kept trying various metal rods, but the Y-shaped, black, metal rods inside the box would rise up in an orderly manner to push all the other rods back into their original positions. In the end, they would go back into the box, and everything would be restored to its original position.
Zhang Wang proudly said, "Boss Pei, this is the Fully-Automated Bickering Machine that I invented!
"This machine can perfectly simulate the experience of arguing with many experienced contrarians at the same time!
"You can start 'bickering' at any time, and the contrarians in the box would immediately stand up to bicker with you without having to rest!
"This would be good for solving the problem of contrarians giving up midway through a heated online debate with you!
"No matter how long you want to bicker for, this machine would always be there for you. It will never grow tired!
"There's more, Boss Pei. Look at the front of the box. There's an automatic counter with a pure mechanical structure there. It will calculate the number of times that you lift rods consecutively and display it using the simplest numbers. The moment you stop, the number will disappear."
Ma Yang looked extremely excited. "What do you think, Brother Qian? Isn't it particularly interesting? You could play it for three days and three nights, couldn't you? I already got the counter to over three hundred just now!"
Pei Qian looked at the confident Zhang Wang and the hopeful Ma Yang. Then, he looked at He Desheng whose head seemed to be hurting. Obviously, He Desheng did not think that anything good would come out of this project at all.
After some consideration, Pei Qian asked, "What's the cost of this Fully-Automated Bickering Machine, and how much would it be sold for?"
Zhang Wang answered, "It costs less than two hundred yuan, and I'm planning to sell it for 260 yuan. I just need two million yuan to manufacture ten thousand machines."
Pei Qian shook his head. "That wouldn't do. Raise the cost to four hundred yuan and sell it for 488 yuan.
"I'll give you eight million yuan. Start immediately!"
Chapter 517 Struggle's System Design Problem
Zhang Wang was stunned. "Boss Pei, there's no reason to increase the cost to four hundred yuan. What's more, it'll be quite difficult to increase the cost anymore..." Pei Qian frowned. "Difficult to increase? How can that be?
"Make the box bigger. Look for an artist to design the box. Plate the edges in gold. Try to source for higher quality materials...
"Weren't you very willing to spend money when we were working on the shared phone booths before? Why are you getting more and more backward?"
Zhang Wang felt ashamed by Boss Pei's comment. "Alright, Boss Pei. I'll do as you say." He Desheng's expression was becoming more exciting.
At first, he had thought that Boss Pei would not feel confident in this project. However, not only was Boss Pei investing four times the proposed amount, but he was also going to tell the product for 488 yuan instead of 260!
No matter which angle he looked at it from, He Desheng did not think that the product was worth that much money!
He Desheng thought that people would only play with this item when they felt bored. If they sold it for forty to fifty yuan, perhaps a few people would buy it for fun.
Yet, if they sold it for 488 yuan...
Who would be willing to buy it?
This thing was unique, but it was neither beautiful nor tasteful. Apart from someone as strange as Boss Ma, nobody else would be so free as to fight with this thing for hours, right?
There were a couple of bored and wealthy people in the world, but they would still not be able to sell over twenty thousand of those!
What if they could not sell all the stocks and everything was left in the warehouse? Wouldn't they incur huge losses?
He Desheng had wanted to speak up at first, but on further thought-since Boss Pei had already said the word, there must have been a way. Thus, he decided not to interfere but to watch and learn instead.
Pei Qian patted Zhang Wang on the shoulder, his face filled with appreciation that he could not express in words.
It was so awesome!
It looked like the shared phone booths had just been a misunderstanding. This inventor, Zhang Wang, was very trustworthy!
If he invented ten more things that wouldn't sell just like that, Boss Pei would easily be able to lose eighty million yuan. What's more, he would be able to make good use of his storage space. It was so fitting!
May 13th, Friday...
At Tengda Games...
Hu Xianbin tilted his head back and downed his coffee at one go. Then, he buried his head back in his work.
Tengda's games department had now been split into two teams. Hu Xianbin was leading one team to develop Struggle while Min Jingchao was leading another to maintain GOG's operations and ensure that it could fight neck to neck with IOI.
Both of their styles were becoming increasingly distinct. Min Jingchao's team passionately discussed various heroes every single day, and the atmosphere was always lively. However, Hu Xianbin's team always looked bored and listless.
The main reason was that developing a game like Struggle was already extremely difficult to begin with. On top of that, they were constantly experiencing setbacks throughout the entire process. Now, their morale was significantly hurt, and the atmosphere could not liven up.
Hu Xianbin was still working on the script for the game-nothing was finalized yet. Yet, all the game's characters and concept art were already complete. He had to admit that Big Boss Ruan was very efficient.
Hu Xianbin saved his document and then opened the folder that Ruan Guangjian had sent him minutes ago. He scanned the document briefly and became increasingly confused.
The game's characters included the poor protagonist, the rich protagonist, the poor parents, the rich parents, the poor protagonist's superior, the rich protagonist's superior, and the like. There were a lot of them.
They had selected the actors before working on the concept art. Thus, according to the original plan, there should only have been minimal beautifying and alteration done to the actors' outer appearance.
Yet, the batch of concept art that Hu Xianbin was looking at now looked overdone. All the images had been exaggerated and expressed in extreme manners. Some characters even looked very weird.
Take the poor protagonist and his family, for example. All of them were obese. The most ridiculous of them was the mother of the house, who looked to be about three hundred kilograms.
Obviously, the motion capture actors were not obese. That meant they probably needed to resort to special methods to simulate this level of obesity while capturing the motions.
On top of that, the rich protagonist looked overly handsome. He looked just like a first-tier celebrity from the West, and he was practically glowing.
On the other hand, not only was the poor protagonist mediocre-looking, but his expression screamed 'toady' with a hint of resentment.
Both of those expressions had been forcibly mixed into the poor protagonist's face, and each one was too clear. As a result, anyone looking at the poor protagonist would feel a certain discomfort.
In other words, Ruan Guangjian had practically written the characters' deepest characteristics plainly on their faces.
After browsing through the concept art, Hu Xianbin instinctively rejected them for being inappropriate. He was confused. Why would Big Boss Ruan Guangjian make such an elementary mistake?
However, Ruan Guangjian answered that it was Boss Pei who had requested this.
Thus, Hu Xianbin began to wonder if there was a deeper meaning to it.
"The flaw is that it would make the game feel less realistic.
"The merits... weird-looking characters would make their traits look more obvious, and thus form a deeper impression on gamers? "An opera-like image could also have a symbolic effect that would bring out the game's themes better.
"Is there anything else...? I can't think of anything else."
Hu Xianbin tried his best to decipher Boss Pei's intentions. Although he could pick some things out, they did not seem particularly convincing.
There were a lot of things to do for Struggle, and he did not have much time to read too much into Boss Pei's actions. As a result, Hu Xianbin had no choice but to leave things as they were for now. In any case, once the game was up for sale, everything would be made clear.
He checked all the concept art and prepared to send them to an outsourcing company that would create the models. Now, he could also arrange for the motion capture actors to start working and capturing motions.
After organizing what he would have to do after this, Hu Xianbin focused all of his energy on the game's script once again.
While he was writing the script, Hu Xianbin had run into a very grim problem that had been troubling him for two long days.
It was quite mysterious—he had met a system design problem with this game. Logically, this game should not have had any system design problems. Yet, there it was.
The rich version was going smoothly, but the poor version was not.
Per Boss Pei's requests, the poor version would only have one outcome: the cycle of poverty was to carry on forever.
At first, Hu Xianbin had found nothing wrong with this because it was perfectly logical. However, the problem was that the game had to account for the wealth that both the rich and poor protagonists would accumulate.
He had to come up with a rough figure for how much the poor protagonist had, how much he needed to sustain his daily life, and how much he could earn from work. Otherwise, gamers would criticize the game for sure.
If the game's script always led to the same conclusion—the poor protagonist was never to have enough money, and he was to be perpetually caught in the poverty cycle; then Hu Xianbin had to think of a way to make sure that the poor protagonist would always end up with insufficient cash.
However, no matter how Hu Xianbin did his calculations, the poor protagonist always ended up with more money than he had imagined. It did not make sense for him to end up so miserable all the time.
Players would have to make a lot of choices even if they were forced to play the poor version. Some would earn more income than others, but even someone who consistently earned a higher income than others throughout the game was supposed to end up caught in the poverty cycle in the end.
Yet, based on the system design, if one made all the right choices as a poor person; they should end up much richer than their parents. They should end up leading more blissful lives. Hu Xianbin could not change the outcomes. Boss Pei had locked them in already. Thus, he was faced with a conflict: If he carried on down this route, the game would lose its sense of logic.
A game with its storyline as its emphasis would be done for if it did not make sense. Its reputation and sales would take a huge hit. Hu Xianbin felt like he was dealing with a formidable enemy. He had to find a way to resolve this problem to relax. After considering it for a long time, Hu Xianbin still made no headway.
Hu Xianbin opened the various character concept art again and began browsing aimlessly. He wanted to get some inspiration from them.
The rich protagonist was impeccably dressed and looked bright and flashy.
With a single glance, anyone would be able to tell that he was a member of higher-management who did not have to worry about life. The unique, golden logo on the cuff of the suit was particularly eye-catching. Obviously, it was a luxury brand.
Two golden capital 'L's were joined together, forming symmetry. The logo had also been artistically enhanced so that it looked classier.
Hu Xianbin did not pay much attention to it. Instead, he continued flipping through the sketches until he reached one of the poor protagonists after being employed.
After being employed, the poor protagonist would start carrying a black briefcase. On closer inspection, Hu Xianbin could faintly see the same logo-the two golden capital 'L's. Hu Xianbin was on to something. He flipped back a few more sketches and looked at the shoes that the poor protagonist would in university.
The shoes had the same logo.
Hu Xianbin continued flipping through the remaining sketches and discovered that at least sixty to seventy percent of the costumes carried the same logo.
All the sketches of the rich protagonist had the logo. However, among those of the poor protagonist, only his costumes for times when he was in a better financial position had it. That made sense. After all, this was a luxury brand. The poor protagonist should not be able to afford it while drawing a low income.
Hu Xianbin could roughly guess what Big Boss Ruan Guangjian had been thinking when he was working on the project. All the motion capture actors had worn their everyday clothes when they took those pictures. The costumes in the concept hard had been designed from scratch by Big Boss Ruan, based on each character's wealth.
Of course, to make the wealthy appear wealthier, Ruan Guangjian had to make use of luxury brands. Thus, he created a hypothetical luxury brand based on existing luxury brands in the market and used it to decorate some characters.
As for why there was only one brand... obviously, it was because there would be no point in creating another one.
Gamers could only remember so much while they played games. If Ruan Guangjian had created two brands, gamers might not have been able to remember them all. In fact, they could easily become confused.
As a result, for simplicity and practicality, only one brand was needed in the game. Products with the logo made up of two golden 'L's were luxury goods, and everything else without a logo was considered cheap rubbish.
That was a normal and natural design. Ruan Guangjian probably had not given it much thought when he was working on the concept art.
However, after looking through the sketches, Hu Xianbin became inspired. His goal had been to look for a reason for the poor protagonist to spend more money.
Hu Xianbin had previously planned for the poor protagonist to only buy daily necessities and ordinarily-priced items. As long as one made the right choice most of the time, they would probably be able to save up and improve their own lives.
Yet, Boss Pei had insisted that the poor protagonist be caught in the poverty cycle. Thus, Hu Xianbin had to make sure that the poor protagonist could spend all of his hard-earned money.
Now, Hu Xianbin had found a good avenue: the luxury bags, shoes, clothes, accessories, cosmetics, and the like.
The poor protagonist's income would not be able to sustain those purchases for sure!
Hu Xianbin heaved a long sigh. Finally, he had filled in a gap in the game's storyline. The gamers shouldn't have anything to criticize now, right?
Hu Xianbin added all the expenses for the luxury goods and found that the estimated income that the poor protagonist would earn would be insufficient. Not only would he be broke, but he might even find himself in loads of debt.
"Good, it's a perfect resolution!" Hu Xianbin clapped excitedly.
Although he had settled this rather rashly, the game made sense now. He didn't think too much about it. After all, this was not part of the game's core storyline. It was only meant to fill in the details of the rich and the poor's lives.
In fact, gamers might not even notice it.
Chapter 518 The New Coach is too Adorable, but She's Quite Strong as well
May 14th, Saturday...
Pei Qian and Li Yaling got out of the car outside DGE Esports Club. After she alighted, Li Yaling scanned her surroundings expectantly. From the looks of it, Boss Pei had rented a villa at Ming Yun Villas for the body-building athletes to train at.
It seemed strange but not ridiculous.
Pei Qian did not say anything. Instead, he led Li Yaling into the villa.
It was past 9 AM on a Saturday morning. The entire living area was empty. Only Zhang Yuan stood by the whiteboard, writing the training schedule that he had planned earlier.
09:00 Wake Up
09:00-10:00 Shower, have breakfast, arrive at the training room
10:00-12:00 Analysis, meeting, training
12:00-12:30 Lunch
12:30-13:30 Rest
13:30-14:00 Warm-Up
14:00-17:30 Mock Competition
17:30-19:00 Dinner, rest
23:00-24:00 Analysis, meeting
24:00-01:00 Shower, keep cell phones, sleep
According to the daily schedule, the athletes had probably just finished washing up and were now eating breakfast.
This villa was not far from Fish-Catching Internet Cafe's Ming Yun Villas branch. They could choose to order Fish-Catching Take-Out or have their breakfast in the internet cafe itself.
When Yaling saw the schedule, she could not help but frown. It was so unprofessional! The feeling was intensified when she studied Zhang Yuan, who had been writing the timetable on the board. He did not look like he trained at all. Yaling thought that this was ridiculous.
It's no wonder that Boss Pei wanted me to take over. Did they just randomly grab the current instructor off the streets? He was clearly an amateur! Wouldn't he delay their progress?
The timetable was even more problematic. First of all, there was a huge problem with the sleep schedule. To keep the body in top shape, one should wake up at about 6 AM and sleep before 10 PM. Staying up so late would affect training progress!
On top of that, the timetable did not include meal details. At the very least, it should state how many times athletes should eat per day, what they should eat, and how much they should eat.
Last of all, too much time had been allocated for training. Professional body-builders varied. Some trained three to four times a week and only did a few simple exercises each time. Others had higher pain tolerance and worked themselves to exhaustion. Those athletes could train anywhere from eight to ten hours per week.
However, at the end of the day, how long an athlete should train depended on his or her body type. A one-size-fits-all method where everyone had to sleep past midnight was completely unscientific!
There would even be mock competitions. Li Yaling could not figure out what would be the point of having mock competitions for body-builders. Were they going to compete in striking poses?
She had many other opinions on the schedule. In her heart, she promised herself to change everything once she took over.
On seeing Boss Pei, Zhang Yuan quickly put his marker down. "Boss Pei, why are you here so early today?"
Pei Qian nodded and grinned as he said, "Yes, I've brought the coach here!"
Zhang Yuan clapped happily. "That's great, Boss Pei! I was getting anxious, and so I found a training schedule online that the contestants could follow. I can relax now that the coach is here. The coach can set the new timetable!"
Pei Qian introduced the two of them. "This is the in-charge-cum-team-leader, Zhang Yuan. This is the professional coach, Li Yaling."
Both of them shook hands. After that Zhang Yuan looked at his own hand, confused.
This girl's grip is pretty strong! Li Yaling was dressed in long pants and a sweater today. Since she was quite small in stature, all of her well-built muscles were hidden underneath her clothes. On top of that, her face looked sweet and beautiful. One would not be able to guess her true strength from her appearance. Li Yaling had been feeling quite apprehensive at first. She had been afraid that she would teach badly and embarrass Boss Pei. However, after seeing the current situation, all of her worries dissipated. No matter what, she would definitely do a better job than Captain Zhang.
The only thing that she could not figure out was why there were so many computers in the living room.
Footsteps were heard outside the door. The contestants were back from their breakfast.
Pei Qian glanced at his watch: they were just in time. He quickly gestured for the contestants to gather around him.
"Coach Yaling, come on. I'll introduce you to the ten contestants you'll be training."
Li Yaling was stunned. She looked at the young, skinny internet addicts and then looked at the serious Boss Pei. It was then that she realized something was off.
The ten of them were even worse than Zhang Yuan!
Although she could tell that Zhang Yuan had never trained in his life, at least he had muscles. On the other hand, the ten contestants either looked as skinny as monkeys or overly plump. Some had hunched backs, and some had twisted bones. Even their postures were problematic.
Obviously, those ten people were not body-builders.
Then, Li Yaling thought about the computers in the living room. All of a sudden, she understood something. At the same time, the ten young, internet addicts formed a row in the living room and sized their new coach up. Many of them instinctively lowered their heads, not daring to make eye contact with her.
So... so adorable!
Strictly speaking, Yaling's face was quite bewitching. She was sweet and beautiful, especially in the baggy sweater and jeans that she had on today. They covered her muscles and accentuated her figure perfectly.
Of course, none of the internet addicts had seen anyone like her. At once, all of them became more autistic. All of them had been expecting to see an oily, middle-aged man or a more experienced internet addict like themselves. They would never have thought that their coach would be a cute girl.
This was so exciting!
As for Zhang Yuan, he naturally felt worried.
Everyone knew that female candidates did not have the upper hand in the world of esports. He did not even know which section this female coach belonged to, whether she could serve her team or not or whether she understood the game well enough to become a coach or not.
At that point, Pei Qian knew that it was time to come clean with everyone. He cleared his throat and prepared for his performance.
However, at that moment, someone knocked on the door. "Hello, your bottled water is
here."
There was a water dispenser in the living room, but the bottle was already empty.
One of the young internet addicts stepped forward bravely and rushed over. "Let me!" The young man who had delivered the water had intended to help with refilling the water dispenser. However, after seeing how ready the internet addict was to move the bottled water, he did not object.
arms.
The internet addict huffed and puffed as he carried the bottled water with both of his arms. Then, he struggled to move towards the water dispenser.
Midway through, he began to regret his decision. The bottled water was much heavier than he had imagined!
He had only wanted to show how manly he was in front of the beautiful, sweet, and adorable coach. He had not thought that he would pay such a high price. He was only halfway through, but he was close to collapsing.
The other contestants showed no intention of helping him. Instead, they suppressed their smiles and waited to see the man make a fool of himself.
You want to show off in front of the coach? You've scr*wed up, haven't you? That's just as well. You've made a mess of
c chances just got higher. The internet addict moving the bottled water saw that no one was stepping forward to help him. Thus, he had no choice but to put it down on the floor. He wanted to take a break before completing the rest of the journey.
His face became flushed, and he panted in exhaustion. At that moment, Coach Yaling walked up to him and effortlessly lifted the bottled water with a single hand.
"Let me."
The internet addict had huffed and puffed and used up all of his energy to make it halfway. Yet, Coach Yaling easily completed the rest of the journey, towed the bottled water with her left hand, and refilled the water dispenser.
She looked so relaxed that one could mistakenly think the full bottle of water was just as light as the empty one.
A weird silence filled the room.
A few of the young, internet addicts pinched their own arms and then looked at Coach Yaling who had easily refilled the water dispenser without panting. Immediately, they fell silent.
The atmosphere was extremely awkward.
Coach Yaling sighed. "I don't know what is going on, but I think there must have been some misunderstanding. This seems to be an esports training club, but I'm a fitness trainer."
As she spoke, she removed her sweater and revealed her well-built biceps.
The internet addict who had tried his best to move the bottle of water continued to pant, with the change in his expression looking very exciting
This one coach could defeat all ten of us without even panting.
Zhang Yuan looked at Boss Pei, confused. In his heart, he wondered what exactly was happening Boss Pei, you said that the club would not be able to poach reliable trainers and that you would find someone more suitable. I believed you, but why have you picked a fitness coach for me?!
It doesn't make sense! Even if the team had to come face-to-face with their opponents while competing, they could only talk to them and not fight with them.
Just as everyone was looking confused, Pei Qian cleared his throat and walked to the center of the living room. "I know everyone is feeling slightly confused, but please listen to my explanation. I think that all of the esports clubs in the country have been too irregular. There's a huge problem with the way they train.
"That's why I'm trying out a new method of training!"
Pei Qian looked very serious and sounded very righteous. In fact, he was almost convincing himself.
"At the moment, all the esports clubs in the country have been neglecting their contestants' health. Most esports contestants are internet addicts with unhealthy lifestyles.
"They spend long hours in front of their computers. Their backs, necks, and wrists could easily develop injuries. This is especially so for those who spend even more time training-they could develop work injuries. Many professional esports players suffer from injuries during their competition years, which results in their careers being affected.
"Many esports clubs exhaust their contestants. They make their contestants train as hard as they can in their younger years without taking care of their nutrition or physical health. How many young and talented contestants end up developing health problems and quitting competitions?
"That's pure violence!
"On top of that, taking care of your own physical health can improve your focus and endurance. One might only need to move their fingers for esports, but their brains have to be operating at high-speed, and they have to remain focused as well. Thus, the physical exhaustion it causes is comparable to other competitive sports!
"Often, competitions result in protracted battles and tie-breakers. Those are tests of contestants' willpower and physical reserves. Whoever can maintain sufficient energy and high focus in the later stages of the competition will end up winning!
"Talent is innate, and technique is trained. However, apart from both of those, many clubs overlook the hidden condition-one's physical fitness!
"In modern competitions, athletes do not merely compete in terms of talent. They also compete in terms of science and logistics. Making up for one of our biggest shortcomings would be far better than trying to do more than other clubs!
"That's why I invited Coach Yaling to become your coach. She is to give your weak bodies a complete makeover. You have to build your team's combat fitness on a fundamental level, understand?"
Everyone exchanged confused looks.
It seemed to make sense, but...
Zhang Yuan cleared his throat. "Ahem, Boss Pei, I think there's no problem at all with inviting Coach Yaling to help our team members train their physical fitness. However, someone has to guide the team's esports training as well..."
Pei Qian smiled. "Of course, I have thought of that as well.
"The two teams will each elect a captain who would be responsible for giving directions and summarizing and replaying after each game. "Leave the professional things to the professionals. All of you reached the top of the charts based on your own talent. As long as you seriously delve deep into the game, you would have a better understanding of it than most of the coaches in the industry."
Chapter 519 The New Training Schedule
Zhang Yuan exchanged looks with the internet addicts.
Would that do?
For some reason, they felt like they were being hoodwinked. However, Boss Pei seemed resolute. At that moment, they could not find any good retort.
Pei Qian looked very satisfied. "Good. If you have no objections, we'll do that. Get along well with one another. If you run into any problems... Zhang Yuan, you and Coach Yaling can talk it out. Farewell!"
Now that everything had been settled, Pei Qian prepared to leave.
Zhang Yuan quickly stopped him. "Boss Pei, hold on!
"Hehe, I think this training method isn't impossible. We can try it out for a while and see its results. However, before that, should we confirm the training schedule?
"Coach Yaling and I would have our own views for sure. If we reach a deadlock, we would still need you to make the final call, Boss Pei."
Coach Yaling expressed her agreement.
She could also tell that she had fallen for Boss Pei's trick this time. However, she had no intention to reject this job. After all, accepting an arrangement like that did not seem that bad.
The internet addicts looked like they were severely lacking in training. Since Boss Pei wanted them to build muscles, it still fell within Li Yaling's job scope.
In any case, whether she was working in the gym or here, she would still be teaching students. Her working conditions were even better now. Why would she turn this job down?
Still, it all depended on whether she could distribute the work with Captain Zhang well and clearly enough or not.
Otherwise, they could point the team in opposite directions. Zhang Yuan could prioritize training hand speed while Li Yaling could prioritize building muscles. Who should the team listen to then?
Thus, Zhang Yuan and Li Yaling achieved a common understanding at the start: they could try out this training method, but Boss Pei had to help them set clear boundaries for their roles and responsibilities and lay out the daily training schedule. Pei Qian had wanted to lie his way out of that; it would be best if both of them clashed. However, since both had laid out their requests so clearly, it became inappropriate for Pei Qian to leave just like that. Thus, he reluctantly nodded. "Alright, let's find a place to come up with the daily training schedule."
Zhang Yuan waved his hand at the contestants. "Play your own solo games to train."
The contestants took their seats one by one, put on their headphones, entered GOG, and started to play. None of them knew what kind of training plan the three bosses would come up with. However, from the bottom of their hearts, they worried about their futures.
If the club had not been banking on Tengda's reputation, they would have seriously wondered if they had been cheated.
Zhang Yuan pushed the whiteboard with the daily schedule on it into where the dining area once was. That was the club's conference room. Coach Yaling found a random seat and sat down.
Now, the training schedule looked more normal than it had before. It looked like a standard esports player's training schedule. There was nothing much to change.
Pei Qian and Zhang Yuan sat down as well. "Boss Pei, let's work on the daily timetable first. Look at this one. Is there anything that needs to be changed?"
Pei Qian looked at the timetable on the board and then looked at Coach Yaling. "Coach, do you have any thoughts?" Coach Yaling shook her head. "This is a standard esports player's timetable. There's nothing much to say. I just have one request: give me two hours to train them each day. I'll bring everyone to the gym."
When Pei Qian heard this, he immediately shook his head.
"Nothing much to say? I think there's a lot to say!
"First of all, sleeping early and waking up early is good for the body. The contestants wake up at 9 AM and sleep at 1 AM. Although that's eight hours of sleep, that sleep schedule is not healthy for their bodies!"
Pei Qian whipped out his phone and searched 'the dangers of staying up'.
"Scientific research has shown that the human body will start secreting melatonin at 9 PM, bowel movements will slow down at 10.30 PM, and man should enter deep sleep by 2 AM.
"Staying up late would mess up the biological clock and result in a whole host of dangers.
"Such dangers include declining short-term memory, declining ability to learn, endocrine system disorders, declining immunity, increased risk of heart diseases, and the like. "Generally, people would become fatter, uglier, stupider, and more forgetful. They would also fall sick more easily. For esports contestants, becoming fatter and uglier would not be a big deal.
"However, if they become stupid, how can they understand the game? If they become forgetful, how can they remember cooldown times for abilities? I don't even have to talk about them falling sick. If one team member falls sick, the others can forget about playing in mock competitions.
"If the ten of them take turns to fall sick, one-third of all the mock competitions each month would go to waste!
"That's a very serious problem! We have to correct their sleep schedules! I think that they should wake up at 6.30 AM and sleep by 10 PM every day."
Zhang Yuan was puzzled. "Boss Pei, this timetable was designed to ensure the most effective training. Practically no one plays in the 'professional' section of the game from 6 AM to 10 AM.
"Most players only become active at night or late at night. For the players to take part in more professional rounds, I had to shift their sleep timings back..." Pei Qian raised his hand. "Of course, I know this, but this is a simple choice to make. Do you want to choose the contestants' health or more useless professional rounds?".
"If they sleep at 10 PM every day, they would still be able to spend at least two hours in professional rounds. On the whole, there would be little change to their training time, and they would not be that affected.
"Comparatively, maintaining a healthy body, having plenty of energy, and maintaining an excellent memory are more important."
After some consideration, Zhang Yuan said, "Well... Boss Pei, they'll finish breakfast at 7 AM. Until 10 AM, there would be no one playing professional rounds, and they would not be able to train by themselves either. What should the team do then?"
Pei Qian sniggered. "That's up to them!
"They can research each hero's skills, familiarize themselves with their pre- and post-attack moves, or train the movements and basic skills for various heroes. Aren't those the most important things to learn?
"They could also play for fun or join random 5v5 tournaments. Those are good ways to train as well.
"That's right. Before that, they should work out for an hour.
"Let me write the timetable."
Pei Qian stood up and erased everything on the whiteboard. Then, he rewrote the timetable.
6:30 Wake up, shower, forty-minute morning jog 7:20 – 8:00 Breakfast, arrive at the training room
8:00 – 10:00 Independent practice of basic skills
10:00 – 12:00 Two mock competitions and post-competition meetings
12:00 – 12:30 Lunch
12:30 – 13:30 Rest
13:30 – 14:00 Warm up in the game
14:00 – 17:30 Mock B05 competition and post-competition meeting
17:30 – 18:00 Dinner
18:00 – 20:00 Fitness training
20:00 – 22:00 Solo training
22:00 Shower, sleep
After writing the timetable, Pei Qian handed the marker to Yaling. "Coach, write down when they should have additional meals."
Coach Yaling: "Additional meals?"
Pei Qian nodded. "Of course! Aren't additional meals necessary if you're training? Eating less and more frequently is good for the body. Write down when they should have additional meals and make sure that they're eating enough. They would not be allowed to order take-out outside the stipulated times."
Coach Yaling pondered about this for a moment. Then, she added a cup of black coffee in the morning; egg white and cereal at 10 AM; some beef, sweet potatoes, vegetables, and a cup of black coffee at 3 PM; and a post-training meal at about 9 PM.
They would have smaller but more frequent meals without increasing their total caloric intake. That would prevent them from over-eating, prolong their satiety, reduce stress on their stomachs, and increase their metabolism.
Pei Qian nodded. "Very good. They'll eat more and train more. Hopefully, when I come back the next time, all of them would look as well-built as fitness instructors!"
Zhang Yuan's head began to hurt as he looked at the timetable. They would be healthy for sure, but would their training be effective?
What's more, those internet addicts were already used to their own lifestyles. Would they be able to sleep at 10 PM if they were forced to?
Zhang Yuan raised that question.
Pei Qian sniggered. "They wouldn't be able to sleep?"
He turned to face Coach Yaling. "Coach Yaling should know how to deal with their insomnia."
Coach Yaling was momentarily stunned, but she soon nodded. Boss Pei's meaningful look said one thing to her: 'intensify your training!' It would be easy to deal with their insomnia. They would just have to train so intensely that they would not be able to get out of bed.
Again, Zhang Yuan said, "I have another question, Boss Pei. Can we guarantee the effectiveness of their training?".
If they had a coach, they could calculate the results of the mock competitions and analyze each team member's objective problems.
However, Coach Yaling did not even understand GOG. How could she replay, then?
Pei Qian was already prepared for this. "That's easy. Both teams have to elect a captain, right? After each mock competition, the captain will do the replay. The member who performed the worst will have extra fitness training at night!"
Zhang Yuan: "But what if the captain shirks responsibility?"
Pei Qian pondered for a moment. "That's true. The captain and the team member will have extra training together, then! The losing team will have extra training, too! No matter what, everything can be solved by adding fitness training
"If they don't win a competition, they'll train more. Yaling, I'll leave this to you. If they don't train to the point of puking, I'll hold you responsible!"
In any case, the more time they spent training their fitness, the less time they would spend training in the game. It would be best if they were unable to lift their arms after each fitness training session. Ideally, they would not even be able to reach the mouse or the keyboard!
Such a ridiculous training method would turn all the contestants away, right? Even if they could not run away because of the one-year contract-once news of this spread, all the other contestants who were thinking about joining DGE would run away in fear.
What would the club be without contestants?
Zhang Yuan and Coach Yaling fell silent. For some reason, they felt like Boss Pei was rejoicing in the members' misery while making those harsh requests...
Pei Qian stood up. "Alright, problem solved. Just follow this plan. When I come next time, I want to see a bunch of contestants who would win any offline competition!" After settling the training-related matters, Pei Qian walked out freely. Zhang Yuan and Coach Yaling remained, feeling extremely confused. After some thought, Zhang Yuan said, "Well, should we... follow this?"
Everyone knew that Tengda's employees would stick strictly to Boss Pei's instructions once he had left clear directions. They were only allowed to use their own imagination if Boss Pei had not left clear directions.
Now, Boss Pei had written the entire timetable out. It seemed set in stone.
Coach Yaling nodded. "I have no objections."
Zhang Yuan sighed. "But the contestants probably will."
Coach Yaling smiled. "It's alright. Whether they have objections or not is not important. Captain Zhang, there's something that I have to make clear from the beginning.
"These people have a very poor foundation. For the first few days after they start training, they might not be able to move the mouse or walk properly. But you don't have to worry. This will go away in a week."
As Zhang Yuan looked at Coach Yaling's sweet smile, a chill ran down his spine.
