After a long day yesterday Ashton accompanied Kira to her place. He notified me when they arrived to Kira's home it got trashed. Kira says maybe a robber. But she has no expensive items for them to steal so they must have given up. Alex and I moved all my belongings to my office so she doesn't suspect anything. Later on I'll place my things in another room so I don't end up confusing her in any way. I know I want to sleep next to my mate but she doesn't know about this life. A lot of secrets but at the same time I want my room to be covered in my mates scent. After waiting so long I ended up falling asleep while my mate had come back late at night and both mate and her friend were so tired that I doubt her friend left to her own little house.
I walked out of my office as I was lucky enough I made a primary office by my room so it was a walk distance. I knocked on the door and I hear the lowest come in ever. They are dead tired. I opened the door to see them both in uncomfortable positions basically asleep. Kira tries sitting up but part of her body is out of the bed. I chuckled. I went to my mates side and I moved her body. She is so light for some reason.
"Is it time to wake up?" she asked so tired
They must have stayed all night trying to accommodate themselves. So I covered her body as I didn't want her waking up like this. We weren't able to reach the gardens yesterday because they needed to use the bathroom as they had drank so much soda on their way to the pack. Her eyes gently open as she stared at me for an answer. She looks beautiful. Her hair isn't even tangled even though she was in such an uncomfortable position. I swallowed a lump as I just smiled warmly.
"No it's too early yet... Wake up when your ready" I whispered gently
She hums lightly and it made me smile even more. She moves a bit getting into a comfortable position. I headed towards her friend and her head and arm are basically dangling on the corner of the bed. I sighed out and so I decided to move her as well. She's a heavy sleeper from what I can see. I carried her gently and moved the covers covering her body. She moved onto her stomach. I wanted to laugh so hard but I just swallowed it in covering my mouth with one hand. I covered her body and just headed to the AC. I turned fan speed on medium speed and aimed the cold air to the roof just for in case. The pack cook must be in the kitchen right now getting everything ready. If I remember correctly that's the third floor. Sometimes even I forget which floor is which when tired.
So I walked out of the room closing it as a tired Ashton stands in front of me. I tried not to laugh as he forgot to brush his bed hair. His mate must have helped him but it is still all frizzy. I clicked my fingers together and he snaps awake. He didn't yell or anything so he just stares at me. I rolled my eyes at him and I just basically dragged him to the third floor. Food is of the essence. I press the button to the elevator and it quickly opened. Sarah is here.
"Oh Alpha your awake... I came to get you for your breakfast" Sarah says with a gentle smile
"Thank you for the reminder..." I tell her with a tired smile
I push Ashton inside and Sarah presses the number three. So it is the number three; good. I am starving. We all forgot to eat yesterday afternoon. I got too distracted and so did my mate and her friend. I sighed out and just looked at the elevator doors open. To the pack watching the elevator doors. I stared at them all. I grabbed Ashton by the ear.
"You told everyone!" I whispered yelled
He laughs awkwardly "So it's true?"
"Yes; I found my mate" I answered gently as I release Ashton's ear
"So when are we meeting her?"
"Did she accept you?"
"Is she really human?"
"Does she now about our kind?"
"Did you mark her?"
I raise my hands and say "Hey calm down; Yes she's human no she doesn't now about us and no I haven't marked her and yes you guys will meet her once she wakes for breakfast"
"She's still asleep?" Sarah asked curious this time
"Yes she is; We were moving her things into my room and her friend is staying there also... If you wish try waiting a few minutes and then go wake her up to eat" I tell her gently
Sarah smiles with that evil kind of smile I know and hate; at times. Ashton holds me by the arm as he tried not to fall asleep while standing. They mind linked something. Sarah jumps into the elevator and just presses the button. I am completely frozen as she waves at me away. I thought Ashton was trying to keep steady but he is just holding me back. I groaned out annoyed as I looked at Ashton. Who was smiling at me right now. I break from his hold and grabbed him by the ear. All he did was laugh his ass off. He's an idiot. I should have known he would be doing this to annoy me. I groaned out again but it was too early for this. I dragged Ashton to the kitchen and made him work with the chef. She is ruthless when she has a worker with her. Ashton tried running away but a knife got stuck by the door. He turned around as he stared at the chef with fear. I laughed and left the kitchen. Everyone started leaving and bidding their good byes as they took their meals to go. It is a work day.
I sat down as the Chef brought me my breakfast. I am excited as my stomach grumbled strongly. French Toasts with strawberry and kiwi fruit on top powdered sugar while being covered in maple syrup. For the protein Bacon; Sausages and Scrambled eggs. To drink a big cup of orange juice. For desert a cup of fruit mix. She came back with a small bowl with a little bit of oat meal with four pieces of square cut of half moon cheddar cheese. Lastly a small piece of carrot cake. I am a big wolf. Lots of food. I burn a lot of calories in the end. Today is training day but I'd need Ashton to get Kira and her friend out of the pack to go running with the pack for 30 minutes. He'll use it as an excuse of getting fancy clothing for the upcoming party the company is having in a few days. I hear screaming and I jumped up in seconds.
If I take the elevator it will take a while. So I ran through the stairs. Using my wolf's speed. I followed the scent of fear and I barged into my room. There all three woman were on the bed terrified. What's going on? I looked around the room and noticed the largest snake by the window. Rattling it's tail. It's a timber rattle snake. I sighed out. My heart is racing like crazy.
"Luke! Get it!" Sarah squeals at me
"Coming..." I say hurriedly
I expected another wolf attacking not a snake. I went to my closet and grabbed one shirt. I walked towards the snake and dropped it on its head. It tried attacking the shirt but I grabbed it by the end of it's tail and I maintained the shirt in it's peripheral vision. Ashton appears by the door already with a straw basket. It's really common. Sometimes a snake enters the house and once the AC starts it tries searching for somewhere warm. Seems like it reached my room this time. Or did someone bring it in by accident?
Some teenagers forget about venomous snakes. Maybe that was it. I placed the snake inside the straw basket and he placed the cap on.
"I'll let you all relax and I'll wait for you all downstairs... Sarah show them the way to the Kitchen area" I tell them calmly
"Are you going to kill it?" Kira asked worried
I looked at her saddened eyes so I responded calmly "No... Ashton will go deep into the forest and release it... Snakes help maintain rats away"
"Really?" she sounds hopeful
So an animal lover I feel really happy so I spoke "Yeah everything will be ok; Breakfast is ready for if you guys are hungry"
"We'll be down in a bit" Sarah says as she is looking around
I accepted walking towards the elevator with Ashton by my side. Ashton looks serious as he now's this is just a common occurrence. We are wolves we are use to seeing snakes from running. We just ignore them. If we don't mess with the snake it doesn't mess with us. So we give it some distance. After that it goes away back to the forest. Some pups are reaching the age to start practicing hunting. So their parents are teaching them the three animals to hunt but this season we're noticing hares and turkeys mostly. So we don't want them to over populate the area so we're allowing them to hunt one animal. Hares are hard so we're leaving the difficult ones to the teenagers. Deer season is in two months so they need to learn hard ones to then hunt in packs. Team work.
We still teach the old ways. Just for in case if we have to hide in the forest for the upcoming war. The females are secretly learning how to cook by fire for emergency situations. This war is first priority. Humans will end up being in danger. Because Vampires and Hunters will take their chance to involve them. They want to reveal the existence of every species. I heard the elevator doors open and the calmed heart beats of the three. Chef Genny refilled my juice. With two piece of ice. Ashton went to release the snake. I sighed out as I started drinking from the juice. They were so terrified. But humans I can expect. But Sarah? Well she is not usually in our runs or our hunts. She is practically verifying which part of the land she can plant Cotton Bushes. She says it would be a good idea to collect natural cotton balls. She wants to teach the young and herself how to sow so making stuffed animals to reaching clothing level sowing. So she is immerse into the learnings. But next week she will be running with us it's mandatory next week. We never know when the war will start so we must be ready. Mostly the pups. Next week's mandatory run will include running for a whole hour to increase speed; human hand to hand combat and finally wolf form combat.
We're even going to teach them to go through dark areas using their sense of smell and sixth sense. They must learn to sense danger and to smell the path so they do not get harmed. An adult will be present as usual. So they can learn slowly. Each pack of five pups will have a strong warrior wolf to protect them.
Training is a must and we have to do so.
This life is full of danger and adventures.
